Is It Bad To Be Arrested For Preaching The Gospel On The Streets?

Peter and John were arrested and not just that but also beaten for preaching the Gospel of Jesus on the streets, but instead of mourning and being ashamed, they were rejoicing and thanking God for being counted worthy to suffer shame for His name sake:

Acts 5:40-41 (KJV)

And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Paul and Silas were arrested, beaten and chained in prison, for sharing the Gospel of Jesus on the streets but instead of feeling sorry for themselves or ashamed, they were praying, singing and praising God with handcuffs and chains and the Holy Ghost came down and shook the foundation of the prison, braking asunder all the chains that held them bound:

Acts 16:23-26 (KJV)

And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

I have also been arrested and beaten myself for preaching the Gospel of Christ on the streets, but whenever I recollect the experience I don't feel regret or shame. Instead I'm filled with joy and pride, because i feel it was a high honor and privilege to have been able to also suffer shame for Christ's name and Gospel sake and to partake in the same inexplicable experience and joy as the apostles. Hence my sharing my experience here and i'm looking forward to suffering much more and even worse for Christ and His Gospel's sake in the future if God permits, because it would be a great honor indeed because I'm not worthy.

It's only ignorance that would make someone think that it's a thing of shame to be arrested and beaten for the sake of preaching the Gospel of Christ as Jesus commanded His disciples to do. Mark 16:15

That's how the Gospel of Christ spread all over the world from the upper room of the temple and now commands the largest following on this planet.

That's how Jesus became the most influential and greatest man that ever lived.

Hence it's certainly not a bad or shameful thing to all be arrested and beaten for the sake of Christ or preaching His Gospel, but something to be very joyful and proud about.

God bless

Jesus Himself forewarned us that we would face such trials, persecutions and even death for obeying His instruction to go and preach the Gospel to the World.

Luke 11:49 (KJV)

Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute:

Luke 21:12 (KJV)

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

But He also said that when that happens, that we should be glad and rejoice because great is our reward in heaven.

Matthew 5:11-12 (KJV)

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

That's why Jesus said the peace He gave to us was not as that of this world, because such wasn't determined by worldly parameters or feelings but those which were not of this world.

Therefore do not expect the world to be able to comprehend such feelings because they transcend the scope and understanding of this world.

So when you see us rejoicing and celebrating for being arrested and beaten for preaching the Gospel on the streets, you should understand where that came from.

We are rejoicing because our hope, joy, peace etc. are not tied to the things of this world but that of the Kingdom of God!

God bless.

Jesus also said that whosoever shall be ashamed of Him and His Words, shall reap the same from Him when He returns.

Mark 8:38 (KJV)

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

He also said that whoever tries to save life shall lose it but whoever loses his life for His sake and His Gospel's sake shall save it.

Mark 8:35 (KJV)

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

So if you've tried to save your life or yourself from being arrested or beaten by not preaching His Gospel to the world as Christ commanded us to do, you should also know that Jesus would also be ashamed of you when He returns.

And you know what that means.

God bless.

Romans 1:16 (KJV)

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth..."

It is not.

The Lord Jesus, Our master, Friend and Lord went through it, and told us we will experience same.

So we count it joy, when we pass through all these for the Lord Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ no send anyone go dey break the law at all. undecided

What Jesus Christ experienced is different from what many claim these days. He made it clear that it is in obeying His commandments that you end up doing as He did. You cannot flout His commandment and then say you did it as Jesus Christ did this since Jesus Christ made it clear that those who belong to Him are instead those who do what He says - John 15 vs 14 and John 14 vs 15 - 20 lipsrsealed

That means Jesus and all His apostles were wrong then according to you because every single of them were guilty of that.

If someone is preaching about a religion in the streets (making noise in the neighbourhood) as long as it's not about Jesus of Nazareth such a person is practicing what his religion teaches like masqueraders and other religionists often do in the streets with noice, but whoever mentions the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth while making noise in the streets is committing a sin! undecided
You're right... It is sin against the JWs to preach the Gospel of Christ on the streets because even Jesus and all His disciples broke that law of your organization.

Matthew 9:35 (KJV)

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

Matthew 10:5-8 (KJV)

These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Luke 9:6 (KJV)

And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

disturbing public peace by preaching loudly about a dead Jew which Jews themselves don't believe in is allowed in useless and backward countries like Nigeria, Somalia etc. But in developed countries where things work and they don't have to pray to a dead Jew for electrical power, journey mercies, sleeping and waking up etc then you'd be punished for loudly screaming useless words

True Christian only visit their neighbours not making noise in the streets, that's not the way Jesus taught his disciples! Matthew 12:19

Before Jesus Israelites are used to prophets shouting in their neighbourhood {Matthew 3:1-3} this is appropriate because their God is their rightful King so like town-criers sent to announce or warn the citizens about what their ruler says the Israelites prophets makes noise in their community. But when Jesus began his ministry he will not make noise in the community rather he speak one on one with individuals {Matthew 4:19; 21} and invited them to join him in visiting others in their homes! Matthew 10:11-13

Why change the arrangement?

Well it's because the God of Israel is like a stranger to other nations and soon the Jewish disciples of Jesus have to go to other nations preaching and teaching them {Matthew 28:19-20} it will be inappropriate making noise in the community where the inhabitants don't know the God of Israel. So they must speak with individuals willing to chat with them! Malachi 3:16

The Christians in the first century met someone named Apollos preaching about Jesus of Nazareth but he was using John's style of preaching (shouting in the neighbourhood) so a Christian couple called him and taught him how to do things appropriately! Act 18:24-26

It's a sin misrepresenting Jesus as noisemakers in the neighbourhood, we need to know that Christianity is a movement commissioned by the world's most wonderful counselor of all time {Isaiah 9:6} so everywhere it is practiced there's no law (humanely) that could be made against what Jesus set with God's Holy Spirit:

On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

They are not CHRISTIANS rather they're misinformed Churchgoers! smiley

Like communication, public preaching should seek the consent of the hearer. That may sound impossible but with a little bit of strategic thinking can be achieved. If you force your words down my ears, chances are high I might become pissed off.

Even Jesus never commissioned the job the way they're doing today!

It's approaching each person with a greeting and introducing yourself before preaching! Matthew 10:11-13

Jesus never disturbed passersby with noise in the streets! Matthew 12:19

You are causing nuisance in the public.
We have hundreds of religion, should everyone of them take a spot on the road and start shouting their various BELIEFS?

Christianity didn’t spread by causing nuisance, it was spread by brute force ask the CRUSADERS cheesy
