Ellexy:This deadwood should have been sold long ago. Injury prone player who has only played 39 games in the last 3 seasons. There's zero value for the club in keeping him around. Jones and Tuan should follow suit. 4 Likes |

Illimitable: Maybe you just start following united. He has been recognized twice for his "Useless contributions". When people dey move on to better things wey dey keep deadwoods. In as much as I like Shaw, I want Malacia to take his spot. We need to move to the new generation. And we have only Shaw and Malacia left. |

TrebleChamp: Garnacho might be better rated. Playing or loaning a player is not always about rating but about giving a player games in order not to wreck his development. Some players depending on where they are in their development curve might need regular game time rather occasional minutes. Case in point Laird is being considered for loan while AWB might be staying as back up. The manager believes Laird will benefit more from playing games rather than rotting on the bench behind Dalot. He might also think Garnacho will benefit more from regular games time elsewhere than rotting on the bench behind Rashford or Sancho. Nobody that has seen both players will rate Elanga over Garnacho. Argentina called Garnacho to their senior camp at 17 before he had played a single senior club minute. However he MIGHT be at a critical point in his development where playing against grown men weekly is better than sitting on the bench waiting for Rashy and maybe even Sancho to get injured. Not like I agree with the manager sha but I can see what his process is. If I were in charge I would give Laird and Dalot 50/50 game time cos with some many games this season PLUS World Cup in between there should be enough games for both of them. I honestly believe that by the end of the season Laird would have won that competition. Garnacho just turned 18 so I would give him a full Under-23 season while he plays all Europa and League Cup games and makes EPL match day squad about half of the time. You have to remember one last thing. What is best for the player long term might not be what is best for the club right now. It might be better for us this season to keep Garnacho in case of first team injury but better long term for him (and ultimately for us as well) to go on loan and get regular minutes. 6 Likes 1 Share |

odizeey: As a result of his British passport. Any left back that has 15 career PL assists in 9 years is a useless player. Trent makes 15 PL assists in a season when he feels like it. Shaw cannot defend, he cannot attack. Just a beefy burger body and he gets to win player of the year? Make it make sense, please. 7 Likes |

Seems he's gonna be part of first Team this Season. I hope Iqbal is giving a chance too.

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 9:30am On Aug 07, 2022 |
Oasis007: I hope he gets regular minutes. The Europa League and League Cup and even 5-10 league starts should be okay. If he seizes the opportunity who knows what could happen. Right from the first week of training the reports were that ETH really liked Iqbal. It will be interesting to see what he decides cos he was our best central midfielder in pre-season but real competition might be different PLUS there are a number of senior players jostling for minutes in his preferred position. |
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Oasis007(m): 9:36am On Aug 07, 2022 |
afrodoc2: I think we need to start trusting our young players. Rashford got his chance as a Teen same as Greenwood and McTom. I'll rather play Iqbal in Midfield than McTom though. I enjoyed him at the Preseason and honestly hope he can even give more in the League. As for Garnacho, I'll keep him and loan/sell Elanga if I'm the Manager. 3 Likes |

Illimitable:Unfortunately Baily isn't British, I no really see why this epistle is necessary. He is surplus to requirements and isn't British, he is injury prone, erratic, impulsive, and unpredictable. I prefer our other CBs (bar Jones who is even worse than Bailey in these things but unfortunately British) tbh. |

Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by afrodoc2: 9:45am On Aug 07, 2022 |
Oasis007: This might be the way to go. Iqbal has real potential. His long term injury and small size obviously initially worked against him in the academy but it is about 3 years since the injury now and his size is no longer an issue. Even then his academy performance are way better than anything McTom ever served us there. Elanga has an uphill task to climb. Garnacho plays his position and is better. Academy products usually have about 2 years to stake their claim to a position before the next generation comes knocking on the door but Garnacho is not even allowing him his usual 2 years. 3 Likes |

TrebleChamp: It is important that the transition is handled well cos it is a critical time. Another important decision is what to do with Iqbal, Savage, Garner, Hannibal. Apart from Savage who might benefit from 1 more year in the reserves in order to develop a bit more physically i don't think there is any benefit to giving them a few minutes here and there. It is either they are loaned out to get regular minutes or they are given the chance to play regularly for the senior team. Benching them and waiting for McFred, Eriksen, VDB, Bruno to get injured will lead to stagnation. 2 Likes |
