GloriousGbola: he was the chairman . There are usually 2 types of Chairmen, Some who are career veterans in the Finance industry or the one who represents the bigest shareholder based on the investment you have Cosmos Maduka might not have studied finance but if he has majority shares in a Bank, He will either be chairman or appoint one of his educated sons 1 Like |

Theflint1: Obis family are old money rich people. Did Obi actually work at Fidelity or just born into money and was made the representative of the Obi clan at one of their biggest investment If I remember correctly, There was a time Kola Abiola was also chairman of Habib Bank or was it Bank PHB to protect the MKO Abiola interest 3 Likes |

raumdeuter: yes. i was referencing some of the other stuff in the bio in wikipedia Obi was a businessman before he ventured into politics.[35][36] According to himself, Obi started his life as a trader, being born into trading family before venturing into the corporate world. He held leadership positions in some private establishments. Some of the companies he served includes: Next International Nigeria Ltd, Chairman and Director of Guardian Express Mortgage Bank Ltd, Guardian Express Bank Plc, Future View Securities Ltd, Paymaster Nigeria Ltd, Chams Nigeria Ltd, Data Corp Ltd and Card Centre Ltd. He was the youngest chairman of Fidelity Bank Plc.[26][37][38] how did he enter the corporate world - and how did he rise to those leadership positions? or was it a 'small loan of a million naira' 1 Like |

Maybe we'd need someone from Anambra to confirm the extent of Peter Obi's family's old money because there are levels to this old money thing. raumdeuter: |

Theflint1: Someone once mentioned it maybe on this or the Chelsea thread that Obi comes from a popular family of successful traders. The question is did Obi rise through the ranks in the financial industry? Or just became a chairman after graduation 2 Likes |

Like I said, there's levels to this old money thing. Dantata's old money is not Bob Izua's old money . I think the more important question is where was the Obi's family's business reputation before Peter Obi became an active participant, and by how much did it improve when he came into the fold? raumdeuter: 1 Like |

Theflint1: There are levels to old money. There are some old money places you wont know, It was Dele Momodu that started unveiling some billionaires in Nigeria through Ovation magazine. No one in my area ever heard of Indimi until Ovation went to cover his house around the late 90s It depends on what your family business is. Dangote is the richest man in Africa but does not own a Bank neither does Dantata. People who don't have the money of Dangote own banks, Subomi Balogun does not have Dantata money but owns a bank 2 Likes |

True, that's why I said knowing where the family businesses money was before Peter Obi came on board is what's most important. raumdeuter: |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Theflint1(m): 4:32pm On Aug 08, 2022 |
We're not in the era of Ovation anymore, information has been democratized thanks to the internet. Kids born in the 2000s know the Dantata family and it's not because of Ovation. raumdeuter: |

By making billions decades after graduating with a 3rd class degree . I'm sure Tinubu in his days as treasurer would have gotten a handsome end-of-year bonus from his employers if he successfully had for example Peter Obi and his family invest his billions in Mobil afrodoc2: |

donjazet: Well, Ambode's problems were political and self inflicted. A Godfather installed Him and the Godfather removed him even when people were feeling the impact of his projects. Ironically some of the people who turned against him were those in areas where he built infrastructures. Ambode built good roads, bridges linking communities in places like alimosho LGA but the party big wigs in those areas turned against him.... Why? Because the normal chop-I-chop arrangement on ground in those areas Ambode came to disrupt it. A case in point is the PSP/VISIONSCAPE issue. LAWMA is in charge of waste management In Lagos and they have a kind-of private-public initiative in which private companies ( usually companies owned by party stalwarts in LGA's across the state) have waste disposal trucks, employ workers who go about collecting refuse on behalf of the LAWMA and these companies popularly referred to as PSP take their own share of the fees paid by Lagosians for waste disposal while government takes its own share as well.......So Ambode brought a totally new company called VISIONSCAPE to take over the job of these guys ( which ultimately means he's taking food off the table of the local politicians who own these companies) It didn't take for long for them to sabotage the whole thing and dump refuse almost everywhere in the state just to show that the VISIONSCAPE idea will never work. When it was time to crucify Ambode, these guys supplied enough nails to nail him to the strongest cross. In terms of performance Ambode did well such that even the Godfather's wife along with other two senators representing Lagos in the Senate actually endorsed him for second term based on his performance and infrastructural projects scattered all over the state. I mean as at March 2018 they were so sure the guy deserves a second term before "bàbà sọpé" NO ( See attached pictures of the senators where they endorsed him) https://guardian.ng/politics/lagos-senators-council-chairmen-endorse-ambode-for-second-term There's also this story of how Ambode after a phone call with Tinubu didn't end the call unknowingly and was complaining to people in the room about the man's constant demands and calling him "greedy" which obviously didn't go down well with his principal. Maybe if Ambode had made less enemies he would still be a governor today and most of his political transgressions may have been forgiven , but we'll it is what it is. He made so much enemies and today Ade pointer is the governor busy patching road up and down Lagos and always flaunting it on Facebook as "Rehabilitation of roads" 2 Likes 1 Share

larride:The electoral law at the time mandated Yahaya Bello to replace Audu because he came second in the primary, the number of vote Audu had over Idris Wada was less than the outstanding vote. This is the reason why the election was declared inconclusive, and Audu could not be declared Governor-Elect. He died before the process was concluded, and the law stated that only candidate that participated in the primary, can replace a candidate in the event of death in an ongoing election process. Some powerful Politician including Tinubu, Rotimi Akeredolu and Abubakar Malami e.t.c wanted to subvert the law by making Faleke the candidate but Vice President Prof Osinbajo insisted that the electoral law must be followed to avoid disqualification of APC. |

One of Tinubu's intellectuals was on Arise TV today and the program had to be ended abruptly because he didn't know the meaning of "buoyed" and picked offence when the presenter used it This tool was a former minister too...Tinubu has made men! https://twitter.com/Makavelli275/status/1556682936627478529?t=Yl1xBLtcSuzy5QbOGG9Vpw&s=08 |

Theflint1: The arrogance of the man is annoying honestly. He's a former minister of Communications, he doesn't understand what the "buoyed" means and all he could've done was to ask her rephrase her question to get a better understanding of what he thought she was asking ; he went off talking out of point and making accusations where there was need for none. So Tinubu will win the election and somebody as dumb and heady as this man will be in either a ministry or a key agency and we will expect anything to change? He just wants to fight even when he does not know whether there's a reason to fight......smh. Na why people like Garba Shehu and Femi adeshina want to attack u the messenger without listening to Ur message sef. |

Since this one has served as minister before and if Tinubu wins he will get one juicy position we'd start hearing that Tinubu has made men...idiots that can't function under any system where tomfoolery, patronage and thuggery are not the most valuable credentials. 1 Like |

BlueRayDick: Lol. As if Ambode didn't totally neglect Lagos state public work the agency in charge of road maintenance in the state and most of the existing roads were in deteriorating at a fast pace. It's not as if Ambode neglected most of the projects he inherited from Fashola which Sanwo-Olu is now completing to the benefit of the masses. You've never been known to be objective when it comes to Tinubu and Lagos APC though so its expected. Imagine propping up Ambode and calling Sanwo-Olu Ade pointer. 6 Likes 3 Shares |
