I doubt they do much about it. I was into reporting friends on my list who change their photos to white military officers, the first stage in Yahoo business, something I detest so much.

I thought Facebook was doing something because I once I do that I unfollow and unfriend the person. Some months back I curiously tried to check the reports of my reports.

It turns out Facebook did nothing about it. None, out of over 20, was acted on. All the baby scammers were allowed to continue using the accounts and even those who hacked accounts through trial-and-error were not left out.

They don't really care. Just take a lot at the recent useless update on Facebook and that should tell you what their goal is. It's about keeping as much people online and as it's about the money. Traffic, money and control is the game.

I’m not going to lie, I never finished watching that advert. For some weird reason I hate hearing the Nigerian accent on adverts on YouTube. They annoy me so much. Anytime they come on, I just wait the required 5s and skip them.

I have never gotten to the end of that advert. I began to get annoyed the first time that I saw, because of how the girl was being portrayed, but something else quickly took over from the annoyance. That was suspicion. There are many things that made me suspicious, including the fact that they were paying for a YouTube advert. There are uncountable ways in which they could get even more traction and spread their message for free, so why pay for a YouTube ad when you need money for treatment?

There are other things that made me suspicious and I remembered hearing about a similar situation sometime ago, which turned out to be a scam. Still, I don't jump to conclusions, so I decided to investigate further later. I never got round to it before I saw this article 2 days ago. Then I saw evidence (on other sites) that this advert was related to the other scams that I had seen earlier. That's the first time that I actually spent any time on the video (I usually just skip it).

There's one other thing that you should note. Apart from using free methods of spreading their message, genuine appeals for help usually provide a means by which donors can ask questions and seek further information. However, in all these scam child cancer adverts (there are more than just the African and European adverts) the comments section is always locked so that potential victims cannot see the complaints of previous victims.
