Hello All, Pls when trying to pick someone from the arrival terminal of the MMIA, is the best bet parking at the multi-storey level car park and the traveller going to meet the driver at the car park ? or there's a way to pick the traveller somewhere closer to the exit/entrance of the arrival terminal ? I'm not an uber driver, Just asking cos a friend almost got harassed by some touts with a towing vehicle upon dropping off someone at the departure area, and I know the case at the arrival section might be worse.
You can only pick up at the car park, outside is only for drop off. There's a hefty fine for picking up outside the car park and it doesn't matter whether you're commercial or private

Lolz...@ "almost got harassed". How do u know they wanted to harass your friend. grin
Typical asking for a friend.

Pick up at the airport is from the multi story car park. Whether the person is arriving or just seeing off a traveller.
Drop off is only at the drop off zone. U can't even drop off at the Arrival side at both International and MM1

Pick up.
Drive to Car park.... Park your car properly. Use your legs, stroll to arrival. Assist your guest with luggages to the car park. Pay car park fees and be on your way.

Drop off.
Ensure all farewell greetings are to be done before getting there. Departure is not a place where you start dishing and receiving last minute instructions.. Hugs, pecks and all that... unless you are with escort police / army.
If not, park, open trunk and evacuate all their luggages as quickly as possible ... and be on your way.

This is not true.

$150k yearly is a lot of money and only about 6% of the population makes six(6) digits.

Try to have a mentality shift, my brother. You’d appreciate this advice much later.

One thing I've learnt from Cheerfulgiven the other day was "time is money". Almost pick any trip as long as there's no traffic. Focus on time and not KM covered. The more trips you do on time, the more money you earn.
When you do a critical breakdown of your expenses you’d realize this time=money logic is flawed. A trip that is normally 4000 naira (due to the distance(km) which you’ve chosen to ignore)but because you want to save time you accept it for 2500, by the time you calculate the amount of fuel, vehicle wear/tear, you’d realize you’re running at a loss. Of course your dashboard account balance will look very impressive, but behind those beautiful figures are loses or at most very little profit.

All you need do is keep your car for now and dedicate at least 1 month in reading this thread so you learn from other’s mistakes. If not na LASTMA/police go first welcome you.

But if you happen to be based in Abuja, below is what we share to new drivers.

16 WAYS TO SURVIVE AS A BOLT/UBER DRIVER IN ABUJA
1, YOU ARE NOT MANDATED TO GO ON EVERY REQUEST THAT HITS YOUR PHONE.

2, AVOID ALL BUS STOPS, HIGHWAYS AND MOTOR PARK.

3, AVOID MARKET ESP WUSE MARKET (DO NOT PICK OR DROP A RIDER OUTSIDE THE MARKET.

4. PLACES TO AVOID AS AT TODAY.
APO BRIDGE
AREA 3 JUNCTION
AREA 1 JUNCTION
BERGER ROUNDABOUT
GALADIMA ROUNDABOUT
AYA
NYANYAN BRIDGE
LUGBE BRIDGE
CAR WASH LUGBE
WUSE MARKET
GARKI MARKET
UTAKO MARKET
ZUBA BRIDGE
DEIDEI BUS STOP
MARABA MARKET AREA

5.(NEVER EVER STOP FOR ANYONE IF THEY FLAG YOU DOWN, TO SAY AIRPORT, EVEN IF THEY OFFER 100K, EVEN IF
THEY ARE DYING)

6.LEARN TO FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCT

7.IF YOU MUST DO NIGHT HUSTLE KEEP YOUR JACK KNIFE AND CABURETOR CLEANER HANDY.

8.DON'T TOLERATE TAKING MORE THAN A GUY PAST 10PM TO ANY OUTSKIRT

9.NEVER YOU GET SO COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR RIDER TO SIT FOR A BOTTLE OF DRINK OR FOOD

10.BEFORE YOU EMBARK ON INTERSTATE OFFLINE WITH ANYONE TRY AND RUN A BACKGROUND CHECK ON THEM AND SEND YOUR LIVE LOCATION TO A TRUSTED FRIEND EVERY 7HOURS

11.DON'T GIVE ADVICE TO A CLIENT IF THEY DIDN'T SAMPLE YOUR OPINION

12.DON'T TAKE SIDES NOR TOLERATE HITTED ARGUMENTS WITH PARTNERS IN YOUR CAR. IF ARGUMENT IS GETTING HITTED QUIETLY FIND A SAFE PLACE AND DROP THEM OFF

13.TRY TO BE IN CONTROL AT ALL TIMES AND MAKE YOUR DECISION CONSIDERING FIRST YOUR INTEREST AND SAFETY

14. ALL YOUR DOORS AND WINDOWS MUST BE LOCKED AT ALL TIMES. OPEN ONLY WHERE THE RIDER IS ALIGHTING FROM AND CENTRAL LOCK ALMOST IMMEDIATELY

15. AVOID OFFLINE TRIPS AT NIGHT

16. VERY IMPORTANTLY U ARE WORKING TO EARN A GOOD LIFE NOT TO JUST DRIVE, UR PRIORITY SHOULD BE PICK A RIDER AND DROP AT DESTINATION AND GET PAID CASH OR CARD, IF U MUST ACCEPT TRANSFER WHICH ISNT A RECOMMENDED PAYMENT MODEL, U MUST ENSURE U GET CREDIT ALERT OR AT LEAST RIDER MUST SHOW U A DEBIT ALERT BEARING UR NAME. MIND U I HAVE SENT IT OR TRANSFER SUCCESSFUL ISNT ENOUGH COS REVERSAL IS POSSIBLE.

17. AVOID DRIVING INTO PRIVATE RESIDENCE WITH HIGH FENCE, ONLY DRIVE INTO ESTATES, HOTELS , OFFICE COMPLEX. ANY RIDER THAT IS TOO BIG TO WALK TO D GATE SHOULD BE CANCELLED ESPECIALLY AT NIGHTS. UR LIFE SHOULD BE UR TOP PRIORITY. UR DISCRETION SHOULD BE IN USE AT ALL TIME.

18. LEARN TO BEGIN YOUR DAY WITH YOUR CREATOR BEFORE KICKING YOUR CAR AND ENDING IT WITH HIM AS YOU COME INSIDE YOUR COMPOUND AFTER THE DAY'S HUSTLE

MAY GOD HELP US ALL.

How do you explain the fact that all full-time drivers do 5000 miles a month, which requires they spend the same on servicing, but somehow, you'll prefer they earn less while doing it?

Pearl will gross 40,000 today. Bolt will collect 10k from him

I'll gross 40,000 today, indriver will collect 3800.

In the end, I'll make more. I have more money for maintenance than he does. You have to critically analyze.

On average saving time = more money for indriver. Uber drivers drive longer pickups and make less.

Boss, the time=money logic is only flawed when the price doesn’t equate or worth the distance covered(reason why I quoted him) as he’s ignoring the distance meaning he’d accept all trips at any price. Pearl would gross 40,000 on bolt with lesser expenses(fuel) because bolt already fixed their prices based on kilometer. While Indriver riders(who don’t care about the distance) would offer 1500 for a trip worth 5000 naira. Here your expenses will be competing with your income.

Otherwise if the price is right, the time=money mantra is the best because - instead of waiting for that 7,000 naira trip I’d gladly fulfill the 1500 request & quickly move on to the next trip, saving time.
