There are different path to studying nursing in USA.

****Are you a graduate?
If Yes - Apply and start doing your pre-requisites from nigeria. After completing your pre-requisites apply for accelerated RN/BSN( 18months) programs in USA. After the completion of your program, look for a hospital filing for GreenCard apply and start working.

If No - If you just graduated high school. Apply to community colleges(they are cheap and affordable) in USA for RN programs. After completion, look for hospitals on GreenCard based application and apply.
Please I will like more explanation for undergraduate in nursing
Best of Luck!

I am supposed to resume 17th for orientation and class 22nd August, I have to apply for deferment because of EA denial, the school is already giving another 1-20 for Jan. 2023

That sucks. On an F1 you are admitted for Duration of Status - I would never recommend leaving until you have a firm date.

If you are denied that will not (or should not )be the reason.
I asked because I read a transcript where someone was denied outrightly because she gave a response that the admission officer has granted her permission to arrive 1week late when the VO stated that the program has started already. However, thanks for the clarification.

I think you 100% can be denied for this. Overall, your start date on your I20 is what matters. Even if they give you the visa, you can be denied at the port of entry if you arrive after the start date on your I20. The school is able to give you permission to arrive 1 week late, and in most circumstances this should be fine at the port of entry and they understand the sort of backlogs we have in Nigeria. Anything after 1 week and the chances at the port of entry get dicey. So if your visa appointment is already 1 week after your start date and it takes another 3-5 days to get your passport then the best option is to defer. The consular officers also know this, and likely won't grant you a visa if you will be arriving at the port of entry 2 weeks after the start date. I was in the embassy this morning and it was mostly F1 and they made it a point to tell all the people they gave visas not to arrive after their program start date or they will be sent back to Nigeria

Please, I need advice. My visa was approved for a school in the USA (one of the top schools for the program). My employer was to sponsor me and I used the company's statement of account during my visa process with a sponsorship letter the whole tuition. Now, the company has withdrawn the sponsorship letter because of a change in management. The company just gave me 5k usd. This means I will be responsible for the tuition and living expense.

I can't afford the deficit to attend that particular school. So, I have admissions from 2 other schools (lesser ranking than the other school) with lesser tuition. Someone advised me to transfer my sevis fee to one of the schools. I don't know if this is possible since I already have a visa for the first school.

Do you think there is another way to fund my studies at the first school considering the ranking? I am aware of loan options, but the loan institutions I know, Mpower and prodigy, did not approve my loan application.

What do you advise please

Hi guys, I requested EA on Aug 5 and am still awaiting feedback from the embassy. However, my orientation was conducted on the 11th and I got to know I could defer to Spring 2023. When requesting a new i-20, will I have to pay another SEVIS fee? Will a new Visa fee be required to reschedule an appointment? What happens to the EA request already submitted? I'd appreciate feedback from you guys. thanks

Wow!! My program started date is 22nd. My EA just got approved. But while trying to pick a date, account was frozen. However, people said that the earliest EA is 17th of August. So I hope to pick 17th of August once my account is unfrozen. Worse case scenario, 18th.

Putting into consideration my program start date on the 22nd and likely date of interview which maybe on the 18th, what are my chances? Is this a red flag?

Anyone with an idea could also give an input.

Thanks

This is a tough situation to be in and I am sorry you are going through it. You are clearly honest and forthright.

You *could* travel to the US on the current visa and then change schools, however this has two potential huge pitfalls. First at the POE if you are honest and tell them you will be transferring then they could well deny you entry. Additionally when you return, if you need to renew for the new school the Consular Officer might think you were deceptive this time and deny a renewal.

If you can secure new funding rapidly you might be able to get an appointment and make it in time, but the anecdotal information we see here is that is very hard.

I would recommend deferring at one of the other schools, secure your financing, and then get another appointment. We talk here a good deal about overcoming prior refusals. The new officer should look that you were approved once, when you knew something changed you did not use the visa, now that you have secured new financing one would hope that officer would then approve your new visa. Not assured of course, but that would be the most prudent route.

Thank you for your advice. I think I would have to defer if I cannot get new funding within this period.

Think strategically. Frequently we read on this forum people sorting through the tactics of getting their visa. This is all done at the last minute with people struggling over what are really minor details. Those minor details are rarely the things a decision turns on.

Remember what I said earlier about the Consular Officer making a lot of decisions and suffering from decision fatigue. Make their life easier by making it easy to say yes.

You probably are looking at a one-year planning horizon.

First, think about why you want to go to the US for school. What do you want to study? Why? When you can answer those two questions, then start looking for schools. The United States has hundreds of good schools. They all are accredited, they have conducive learning environments, those things do not set them apart. Affordability, the community, and recommendations from friends will help set you up for success in a selecting a place you will achieve your objectives.

Take admissions exams. Don’t look for schools based on whether they are required, even if ultimately they are not, serious students take them.

Apply to the schools of your choice, be able to explain to yourself why you want to go there. For example –

“I want to go to Northern Arizona University because their business school has a solid reputation is educating entrepreneurs, Flagstaff is a diverse city, and I would like to visit the Grand Canyon. Northern Arizona is like no place I have every been and I want a new experience.”

In that statement you have given a solid educational goal and told someone you have really considered the place you are hoping to spend the next 2-4 years.

After you have admissions figure out your funding. Obviously some of this will be going on in parallel, but you need a solid plan in place that you can easily explain to the Consular Officer.

Once you have all of that in place apply for your visa. Make sure the DS-160 is accurate, but do not get into extraneous detail. Remember we are trying to make this easy for the Consular officer to say yes.

If you have been working on this that long your interview will be easy. You will naturally explain why you are a bona fide student, how you are paying, and what your ties are that are going to compel you to return.

I think this is a much better situation but because your interview is before the start date and you have permission to resume late so it shouldn't stop them from giving you a visa in theory. At least if I was in your position I would still carry on and not defer. I don't know what the actual timeline is to receive your passport but its supposed to be 3-5 business days. If you think you can collect your passport and *arrive* in the US by the 26th at the latest then by the grace of God you should be fine, although you might get tough questions at the port of entry

I would suggest you apply to community colleges and resume there. Most of them are affordable. I do not see why you should waste this visa.

Bro. I applied to a school someone here pointed out to me and mailed them with my transcripts.

They replied that I met the prerequisites but I have to send my documents from my school and also the money involved is another thing.

I may stick with UK. cry

Great! Do the program in UK, write NCLEX and come to US.

I will advice you not to waste this visa. You chances of getting a new one is very low. Go to the school, and upon arrival transfer to a less expensive uni.

Thanks for the reply boss.

I actually asked my school for an extension which should be reflected on my I20. Rather than do that, they issued me an extension letter.

There is a black market for sure. This is 100% true.

I doubt that there's such. Because when I keep calling them about my EA, they keep telling me the decision is solely Made by th US embassy.

This stuff is really frustrating at this time. I can't even focus on what I'm doing. Weren't they not expecting this kind of surge during fall semester? It's tiring

Whether you get fully funded or not, it's never compulsory you go with your family. It's a matter of choice and its only easier to go with them when you're fully funded.
