What stopped him from contesting and winning the presidency when he didn't have dementia and Parkinson.

Now that he's old, he can't even drive himself in a car. The only people that would vote Tinubu are SW, which is already divided.

The remnant votes Tinubu would get in the north after Atiku won't be enough for him to win the presidency.

No candidate has ever lost his region, and won the presidency.

Tinubu has lost the South even before the election.

In 1979, a woman of that age would have had late 40s and 50+ year old sons and daughters.

So it is safe to assume that BAT was around 45yrs old in 1979.

In 1979, there was no Islamic terrorism in Nigeria, there was no Fulani herdsmen invading villages and killing people in the name of Allah, there was no Boko Haram and ISWAP, there was no divisive government like the one led by Buhari that favours his ethnic and religious group over others using resources generated by mostly those he does not like. They keep making reference to 60s and 70s when majority of the over 70 million voters were not even born or care about

People will always come up with excuses to either oppose what they don't like or support what their biases.

The fact is still that religion wasn't much of an issue in that period. If it were to be an issue, Awolowo would make sure he got a Muslim Northerner no matter what it takes.
