From my observation of Igbo society, they do not respect civil authority but rather can only be ruled via tyranny or by an external colonizing force.

Mind you, these are people with no history of kings and one deprived of any real central authority or leadership. This is why they can never respect one of their own civil authority unless he rules with absolute tyranny . They also are a people who prefer to be governed by others than by one of their own.

The yeast is akin to a prison yard where the wardens outsource authority to prison trustees .
