You mean protests in Sierraleone? Funny thing is that the funny Sierraleone Government said the protesters are simply terrorists from outside the country grin.

As for Ghana, they would have to hold on tight for now until the coming of the 750 million dollars Afreximbank loan in the short term and IMF 3 billion dollars loan on the long term, to help shore up their foreign exchange through improved foreign reserves or dollars inflow. This would help reduce inflation in Ghana greatly.

Sierra Leone I mean. I'm afraid it may spread across west Africa. I think this votes for Ruto is also influenced by cost of living although Ruto is part of the government.

On Ghana, I don't know how borrowing more can help. Nigeria's debt profile keeps ballooning too. That's why this 2023 election is very important. I hope you were able to register for the PVC.

The truth is nobody knows who has won the Kenyan Presidential election three days after voting. Both parties are just giving themselves cold comfort here and there.
That is sad because by this time, Every media house and election watchers should have an idea of who has won or whether there need to be a rerun

I hope you're seeing the trend - it started at Raila 63%. One more hour - you'll be asking IEBC to stop the count.

What is going on with inflation in Ghana? We're grappling with the same issue in Nigeria and it's effects are scary. Food prices are higher than during covid. There have been protests in Senegal with a few people shot dead by government agents
Nothing really

Only 3 things are driving inflation in Ghana at the moment
Cedi depreciation comes first, which lead to fuel price increment and follow by transportation cost increase.

Food prices are quite okay

NOPE. Everyone Knows Ruto won. In the entire world. The form returns were 99% available 24hours after election.

In 2013/2017 we had digital transmission of results - our perenial loser - and his supporters - got into a serious shock - because three hours after end of voting - the figures settled - and never changed smiley as they should. They cried server rigging, computer generated, algorithm - why are % not changing smiley - yet polling station were keying in data.

Now with these ones - images are send - then everyone slowly calculate. They have the time to go through all stages of griefing - by tomorrow they will be very peaceful smiley smiley

You've seen their shock, anger, depression, bargaining... I say we keep this system...it a week of healing.

PVC is not the problem, who to vote is the problem. My candidate was Osinbajo. Now I am an Osinbajo refugee and still confused.
Nigeria's total debt is just 95 Billion dollars. Those of Egypt and South Africa ( with lesser population and slightly lesser economic sizes) are over 200 billion dollars (still rising). South Africa is even okay, because they have more of local debts, but that of Egypt is borderline insane. Our total foreign debt is now close to 40 billion dollars, which is about 40% of our total debt.

Ghana's problem at the moment is not money.
Ghana's problem at the moment is the Govt and it misplaced priorities and we have just two more years left so we can change the govt and everyone is just waiting for that.

The past 2 years challenges was a bad time to have a government that believes in Property Owning Democracy.
They've thrown too much state money into private businesses that are yet to be productive to shore up the economy hence exposing it to shocks

In kenya they cant. The polling station final declaration CANNOT be altered even if you can see a mathematical error. Doing that open room for mischief. It simply NOTED DOWN. That polling station has error of this nature - and used it as it. If a problem is serious - it's excluded from the tally

The const tallies and national tallies can be altered if an error is spotted because they are not the primary document.

That's a recipe for disaster...... Room

Elections are not supposed to be like that ... If what you're saying is true, then it means there are no room for recounts as well.

My biggest issue with this Ghanaian Government currently is:

Why continue with stuff like school feeding programs and all that stuff, when you need more revenue?

Why have over 100 ministers on your pay role, when Ghana is more of a centric Government?

Also, I wonder why they spent such billions on revival of the banks? (maybe you should help me understand that situation better).

At the end of the day, our African Governments are just almost all thesame.

Because school feeding is very important and the amount of money spent on it together with free shs is less than 3% of revenue.

Your second paragraph is correct, efforts from all works of life aiming at forcing that block head guy to reduce the size of his govt has not bear fruits.. Even including 3 times refusal of govt budget..

You a correct on your third paragraph as well.
This govt created it own problems and Collapsing local banks was the first of it...Our current prez is so vindictive and state capture is his sole aim and everyone knows it now.

The entire process of collapsing banks was politically multivated from the very beginning... The finance minister who is the prez cousin owns an investment bank..When they came to power, he decided it was wise to collapse his competitors who were doing far better than his bank. Now his bank is the only investment bank left in the country.
As we speak, they've lost two of the cases in court and are now negotiating judgement debt payment as well as the restoration of the banking license for two banks that were wrongfully collapsed.

There is room to retally the total but not alter primary document.
The ballot recounting can only happen under high court order.
The ballots are kept for three years
Presidential petition is heard and determined in 28 days.
Kenya became 1st country to annual a presidential election
So there is no problem - if polling station data has issue - and the contest is very tight - normally high court order a recount - and can declare new winner or order repeat election.

The purpose of recounts is to make sure that everything was tallied properly which means, if there was an error in the first count, a recount will correct it since all the polling station documents and votes cast are made available at the constituency level collation center.

And this is supposed to be done with the various party agents available to watch the process, who already know the results from every polling station in that constituency.

This way, courts only come in when parties can't agree on the results from a particular polling station or constituency.
Re: Kenyans Are Far Behind Nigerians In Every Aspect – Fani-Kayode by rvp2018: 2:51pm On Aug 13, 2022
The polling and voting happened in polling station. The documents are sealed. What can be done is re-tallying. But boxes cannot be unsealed except by court order - and it will be supervised by high court judge. This avoid abuses. Kenya is a low trust society. Ghana is better in that regard. Our tribalism is very serious.

Growing up, it wasn't so in my experience. But after 2015 it was something else. Politics have a major role to play in this.
Buhari and APC party as a whole have not really been the favourite of the youths in general. Sometimes for cogent reasons, but most times due to propaganda.

So far Azimio has 134 MPs against 120 for Yuda. The gap will only grow wider. Rvp was predicting a whitewash. grin

The only post where they have outsmarted Azimio is in senate. The rest; from governorship to MPs is all painted Blue. From these few pointers, how do you expect UDAKu to take the lead? grin

Updates:
I've been busy since yesterday, and now I have to update you on the current UDA conjured stats and rigging in key areas.

As Anticipated, UDA would by All means try to rig. They have been waiting for a hiatus to conjure their 52% formulated arithmetic; which they have been peddling on Twitter( notoriously by itumbi & Ndii.) 200 attempts of hacking IEBC server by YUDA has failed terribly.
I also hear that Gachagua has been paying clerks in the mountain; to enter results in favor of UDA - it has failed terribly under thorough scrutiny by IEBC officials & Azimio chief Agents.

We won this thing the first day. We're now eying and facilitating the tallying & verification process because UDA fanatics are capable of doing anything illegal anytime. Mega inauguration of baba the 5th awaits smiley

Look to china and possibly Russia for partnership... The west is a cankerworm of self destruction

Why in the world would Russia help Nigeria develop a pipeline to Europe when natural fuels are the most important trump cards they have over the EU? China is a little more understandable but it ultimately depends since they unofficially supports Russia’s side of the war.

I’m not a big fan of the west but at the end of the day there far more developed and stable than Russia which is a pumped up struggling 2nd world country that would hit total collapse before the major Western countries. Same for China though not as advanced as Russia but they have far more industrial output.

Nigeria should remain playing both sides of the field.

Ruto is one MAN AGAINST HUGE MACHINE and he has prevailed.

Ruto will win - now projection is 53% to 46% - but in parliament UDA will have almost super majority - more than 220 mps
