The mainly Muslim military dictators from Northern Nigeria who supervised Nigeria's Constitution refused to include Sharia criminal justice system in the Constitution, unarguably, because they knew the chaos inclusion of Sharia criminal justice system can cause in Nigeria of plural religious faiths.

Boko Haram says that it's fighting for a Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal laws.

Obviously you don't understand how the sharia law operates. Do you know the investigation that will occur before judgement will be passed on any of these cases? Do you think sharia law is like the normal western law anybody can pick up read and understand?

Now brief explanation.

The sharia law is firstly taught to the people by the mufti (islamic lecturer). He breaks it down for people to understand but then if anyone decides to violate it the law the mufti can only call them to order because it is not in his power to prosecute the offender.

Then there is the judge who passes verdict on the sharia law offenders. He knows the law and he passes the verdict (qadhi)

Now before anybody can be punished under the sharia law there must be a thorough investigation with lot of witnesses and concrete evidences. Not the jungle justice we see in the northern part of Nigeria!

If a man steals, he would be questioned as to why he did. If it based on hunger he would be spared and even be given more!

But if he his rich enough (nigerian politicians) and still steals, then the qadhi will pass the verdict of his hands to be amputated after thorough investigation and conrete evidences.
