I don't know why people do conversions from Pounds to Naira when it comes to cost of living in the UK or Tuition. You won't go far if you keep this mentality when/if you get there.

Absolute Gibberish here with no justification for your earlier "one of the biggest emerging country"

Go and pack shit abroad, lazy poor youth. The stupid fish drowns in the abundance of water. It is one of the fastest emerging market. A poor man only sees failures, I have nothing in common with people with no insight and vision. I don't debate with people of low IQ. Not everything is for everyone, keep being negative, pessimistic, it's your loss. Nigeria is indeed one of the biggest emerging economies now, whether you believe it or not, you are inconsequential.

Good advice but certainly not a one advice that fits all.

One might just be tempted to finally admit that indeed school is scam after adding up all the amount you quoted up there.

After all, is set and done, the only thing most people will take out from this one-way style of education is how to graduate, find a 9-5 job, earn a salary, and get a mortgage to buy a house while also paying off study loans.

The whole thing get as e be joor

This thread is an eye opener. Was planning and saving up for a May resumption to the UK for a Business Analysis course.

I think I’d work towards a German school or Canada PR. Cos I planned paying just about half of my Uk school fees then go and hustle the rest there.

I know the process for German schools but pls what’s the process for Canadian PR??

Ain’t doing bad here in Nigeria btw. I’m 26 with the years experience and currently working towards a certification. Pls what’s my chances of easily getting a Canadian PR and what’s the timeline??

Deep.

Hahahahahahaha. I remember embarking on further japa runs after myself and a few friends graduated in the UK. Some extremely Patriotic naija colleagues that had families way up in government where bent on going back home to Nigeria. They believed getting job won't be hard for them back home.

Well, 12 or 13 years after, they now send messages every now and then asking about how they can japa. I tell them I don't know anything about migration again. Last time I ever touched an immigration from or whatever visa application form was way back in 2012 or so when I filled visa application form for my family members to visit me abroad.

That’s how a friend living in South Africa decided to relocate back because some of his friends and relatives kept telling him to come back and start a business or two cos some of his age mates have opened two shops or more. That was how he sold everything he has then, bought chemicals and shipped to his friends that told him to. Three months after they have not sold the chemicals. Now Oga is back to naija, sold his car in naija and naija swallowed everything.

Oga has gone back to his father’s house in the village giving birth yearly. Now he’s looking for a way to run back but even money for flight ticket he no see. Abegiii

Pls I'm saying this to everyone reading, if you have that kind of money kindly move to Canada instead. I'm in Canada at the moment and I'm wondering why people run to the UK.

If you come here as a student you won't go back cos you'll most likely get a job. People get citizenship here in 3-5 years.

Don't dash UK your money pls. UK made their Visa easy for a reason. I beg make una think well

You have a great chance for Can PR

Try as much as possible to max the IELTS exam.

Get an MSc if you don't have one since age is on your side.

I'm in the process awaiting for PPR

I don't regret doing mine in the UK. I don't think I would have gotten an Australian, American or Canadian visa when I applied for my UK visa in 2008. The UK masters gave me extra points which helped me move to a different country after grad. My pof for another immigration program was also saved from working with a PSW visa.

That's another angle. UK give out visas easier than other countries. I would rather have completed my masters in Canada and continued working there while securing my citizenship at the same time.

My sister and I did our masters in 2009. She just got citizenship last year while I got mine after less than 4 yrs in Canada. All the effort she spent in renewing her work visas, having to work within the lines of her visa etc. Her husband is still being denied although he has stayed longer than her.

Its unsurprising how the average Nigerian result to abuse and insult when they cant defend themselves. You need to get educated. Having a paper certificate doesn't amount to being educated.

I dont understand how people always mistake asking for facts as against living in the subjective world. Typical mindset of people in Nigeria government that have always lived in their world and never try to be objective.

You have alot of self building to do. I hope you would one day attain this so you can achieve your outstanding visionful life

I said this earlier as well when I said I regretted doing a Master's in UK. Total waste of time and money. School in a country that would give you the opportunity to emigrate.

People that it works for are medical people, Big 4 accountants, IT people.

So sorry about what you had to go through, i had a girl who live in my neighbourhood who had to do 2 masters just so she could stay at the end of the day she had to come back to Nigeria.

Back in 2016, i had read somewhere on Punch where Nigerians who completed their masters in the UK said they regretted splurging N10m on such endeavors.

I think we should also try to push trades as an alternative to Msc, it is not only cheaper you the skills learned can be transferable.

I do agree that masters in itself is an over qualification in alot of places around the world. All that is needed to start a career in developed countries is majorly a BSc degree. Some people have even built fantastic careers with just a trades/journey person certification or 2 years diploma.

Truth be told, the point of most people going abroad for Masters is to japa first. In Nigeria, would an MSc qualification give an advantage over BSc holders when applying for jobs? that is a big maybe. A good number of my colleagues back in school that never left Nigeria for the abroad to study after our BSc have become directors at places like PWC, KPMG, GE and other multinationals. One of my colleagues even went solo and started his own IT company - It is now one of the biggest in Nigeria today. That is the path they have chosen in life. Some of us have chosen the japa path and equally doing okay as well.

Brother, it's just the way we see these jobs in Nigeria. Its seen as a low level job. Here in Australia. It's a money spinner.

Some care workers here out earn some bankers and engineers. My ghanian friend here is building an apartment complex in Ghana where he is going back to.

A man has to do what he has to.

Thanks so much for the insight.

My critical thinking in this matter is as follow…

You must be smart and must have plans before coming to the UK.

You must seek for knowledge to know what to do at the right time.

You can sell your land for a better future in the Uk, trust me, you will get a bigger land once you re settled in the UK with d right plans!

You must be smart and be ready to seek for more knowledge!

Let no one discourage you in travelling abroad when our leaders have all failed us!

Have plans! I repeat Have plans!

The truth is that not everyone in the recent time is excited about japa! Infact those who are recently going are part of those that thought Nigeria would be better.

Some people don’t mind to do the care job over there. But the challenge is that they only have 20 hours a week to work.

But if they have unlimited hours to work, they can do 40 hours of work in a week and earn £600 a week @ £15 an hour. ThAts £2,400 a month.

If £1,400 go to bills £1,000 (800k) can be saved in a month.

How many people earn 800k doing menial jobs in Nigeria?

Some can do this for 10 years and have goo set up back home and be back to settle down.

You should also skill up before going, while processing your visa, pick courses in tech and tune it up, it will help you out there.

I wish you all the best…home or abroad

While I’d recommend all 3 because there is a true chance of success with proper planning and preparation, I agree that there are many other countries that are more than suitable. What’s necessary is discernment though. Some of the countries I see people enquiring about are not great choices for Nigerians or anyone else to migrate to but rather than doing their own in depth research, they happily accept and process the second and third hand advice as long as it all sounds positive and easy.

I’ve been thinking of Belgium or Germany for my masters. I’m a Medical Laboratory Scientist and I want to study biomedicine for my Msc.
I’ve seen your posts, hence I’m asking. What do you think......
Also, are there any other good countries for this apart from the UK, Canada and US??

Bro put me through on the steps to this US Ph.D scholarship.

Please don't see this my responses as rude, I type this with the utmost respect because I understand that Nigerians are easily provoked when you tell them the truth.

If you ask this question on a thread like this, it simply means that you are not a PhD scholarship material.

There are a lot of Nigerians on Youtube and Twitter who are creating steady contents on how to secure PhD funding. the truth is you must be capable of independent research to do a PhD. Asking questions like this doesn't show you've done your research.

Firstly, try to do your research to get a general overview of what is required, and if you have a more direct and personal question, you can now come back and ask, and we will be happy to support you.

once again, I apologise if you think my response is rude and that I should've ignored the post. I wrote this response out of love and respect, hoping that you or any other person reading this will see reason from it.
