This is what I think and what my plan is. Make una no laugh me sha, part of it may be out of ignorance. Just my wild thought. cheesy

I am married, I can afford the cost of relocating which is study visa for my wife and me the dependant plus POF for 9 months.

My wife can do 20 hours of work per week and I work as long as possible as the dependant. I understand a realistic cost of living monthly is about 1200 pounds monthly.

Now I'm very hardworking. I usually have no problems doing things people consider too difficult to do. Worst case scenario, assuming I'm unable to get a white collar job and I do a 10 pound/hour job, I can work 12 hours per day. That's roughly 3400 pounds per month. My wife earns 800 pounds per month. Total 4200 pounds . We are able to save 3000 pounds as a family monthly.

In 4 years( 2 years masters for her and 2 years post study) we have a savings of 144,000 pounds.

After 4 years, I'll switch to masters and she'll be the dependent which will allow us another 4 years of stay. She may not be able to work as hard as I worked. So let's say a modest 40 hours per week for her and 20 for me. This will give us another 67000 pounds in another four years. Add together, we have 211,000 pounds.

Assuming naira maintains it's current rate against the pound at 840 naira, that's 180m.

That's more than enough to live a good life back in Nigeria if we have no means of staying back in the UK.

I have checked job vacancies in the UK as it relates to what I do here in Nigeria and I should be able to slot into the job market without issues . The job need not give me sponsorship I don't care.
However, I'm working with a worst case scenario that we never get a good job and just do basic low wage jobs in 8 years.

If we get jobs with sponsorship, fine. If not, we come back to Nigeria better than we left.

Again, just my wild thoughts grin. Reality may be different from all of these grin

Bro in all of this, know thyself and know thy wife. I don't know if I may sound like a pessimist but try and measure the love shared between urself and Ur wife. I've heard cases of women being financially independent abroad and then deciding they want to divorce their hubby. I read a case of a woman after the husband had sacrificed for the family ( for her to get trained as a registered nurse) only for her to get good job at NHS and then part ways with him. The man murdered her cos he just couldn't bear the betrayal and was sent to jail for it.

I'm saying this because of the part where u said u will switch to masters after she complete hers and she will be the one earning more while u go on with Ur studies. Some women once they start providing for the household their loyalty/love gets tested.

Be sure u are both on the same page before going through with this Ur strategy.

Why does Buhari, Emefiele and APC hate Nigerian youths this much?

Universities are closed and youths are at home. If you are lucky to have graduated and your working remotely for a foreign company, your salary with be paid in batches cos of CBN rule. You can only receive 500dollars in batches

$20 limit expenditure for a Naira Debit card. Who does that!!?. In the world of today, a CBN Gov sat down to say that Men and women can't spend more than $20 a Month??..

Never forget Emefiele is an APCmember as well....

All APC MEMBERS HOME AND ABROAD,SHOWED NO REMORSE IN NIGERIANS PAIN,PUSH THE FAILURES OF BUHARI TO THE PEOPLE AND STILL TRYING TO PUSH ANOTHER SICK INCAPACITATED ONE IN,IT SHALL NEVER BE WELL WITH YOU!!!!

Yes, you can try Zenith.

You know CBN allocates Fx to them. Sometimes they would have exhausted it and of course they won't tell you.

This is why I dey look that UK student visa Japa route with one corner eye. Most times when I sit in my quite time I do imagine what UK will look like in 2 to 3 years time when most people must have been through with their Masters and everyone will be job hunting.

Will the UK Labour market be ready to absorb many Nigerians who by then will be carrying a UK masters degree after spelling cars and other properties back here to facilitate the degree program?

What will be the fate of those who will be unfortunate to land jobs? ( Because definitely the competition will be rife between Nigerians, graduates of other African countries who went to the UK for the same purpose and UK citizens with British passports)

It's looking like the system was designed to make as much money for the UK economy and u are left to Ur own fate to sort things out.....Literally " GO HARD OR GO HOME"

As I dey I dey reason Scandinavian countries like Finland and co but I don't know much about their immigration paroles and moving with family and stuff. Then I don't know how receptive to a blackman in those places and how prosperous they are economically sha

There is a well travelled and half finnish guy who shares his experiences on nairaland travel section...

Finland POF is close to 7k euro and you must have been able to pay your school fees which is 6,000 euros on the average before you can be granted an RP,the good thing about Finland is that you can move with your family and kids as far as you can cater for them with proofs while you study whether for masters or bsc

Sure, I am also trying the Canada route. Infact it's my plan A. Fully funded PHD scholarship in US is plan B, UK is plan C if everything else fails. Timeline is between now and August next year.

I think I mentioned here before that currently Canada probably gives you best chance of integration into the workforce. I have a good number of friends and family make successful moves there recently.
My main problem with the country is the climate.

Most of Ur house of reps members and senators u voted in don’t go for house sittings like they ought to and they apportion humongous salaries and allowances to themselves in the face of current economic realities , have u called for their sack/recall/replacement yet ?

One of the reasons I wasn't in any too concerned about the presidential election but those lawmakers own, if we really want to get it right in this country, we must start with voting credible lawmakers not just focusing on the best presidential candidate....
