The reason I have doubts about them is their age. A combination of a younger Eriksson and Casemiro in midfield will perform better. They will also maintain high levels of performance for longer.

I think it will be Casemiro, Fred, and Bruno with McTominay as the alternative to Fred and Eriksen as the alternative to Bruno. Casemiro will be the mainstay as there is nobody who has his skillset in the team.
I guess in ultra-attacking situations e.g chasing a goal, we might go Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno while ultra-defensive situations we can go Casemiro, McFred in a more standard 4-3-3.

Because the fault in the goal was obvious. This was not a random league match for a team that was basically the league champions.

Mount should never have been free for that goal. A DM should have covered Mount in that position or should certainly be blocking the passing lane. Look at that ball slice through the midfield for how many meters? Harvertz is not KDB or Fabregas. It was just too simple. Gundogan was caught out up front chasing Harvertz on the counter. Sure it can happen even with a ball winner/CDM, but that's certainly a textbook situation of what happens when you play teams that know what they're doing now without a DM.

As for the Gundogan thing, I don't know about that but if you say it happened then it did. All I know is, he was used there for a short while. And Pep didn't waste time to search for a ball winner/ CDM in the market. He wouldn't do it for a long while.

Pep won't try it on a long term basis. Not to talk of a team transitioning from a counter attacking style.
