This is not about wickedness. It is a cold hard economic decision. We are fast running out of USD

How did a whole giant in Africa (certainly not of Africa) get to the point of needing or having to make such drastic economic decisions after 2 tenures?!!

What did they do about preventing this since 2015?!!

Well, Nigerians deserve this and more! Let's keep voting in senile charlatans into such sensitive positions!

The CBN governor doled out all the dollars to cronies of the President

The President scared away potential investors with his careless utterances in his early days in power

The NNPC spends more than it earns

Basically, we have no dollars to give the airlines.

Be smart, follow who sabi road and give the reins of leadership to who sabi lead

IATA, no dey stress yourself. The leaders no fit hear anything that you are saying. Money that they have laundered, through rubbish subsidy, through inflated projects and government wastage, personal aggrandizement. So no money to pay. If they can lecturers and watch their education rot, then your case is nothing to be bothered about.

With all these owe owe, cost of governance still never reduce cos if it reduced, one special adviser to a president won't be collecting salary after he had resign to contest public post, not even mention the amount he is collecting or be dashing Niger free cars in exchange for donkeys.

What is wrong with this present government? Is this still incompetence or plain wickedness?

What did Nigerians do to deserve this?

2023 is another opportunity to try and right the wrongs going on. Things are getting worse by the day.

Vote wisely. Vote in leaders who are reasonable, responsible and passionate.

It’s plain wickedness. They are indirectly shutting down the country, taking us back to the Stone Age. Scrapping every naira in Nigeria’s Federal purse and slowing turning the whole country to Fulani backyards so that when they hand over to the next administration (that’s if they plan to even hand over) there will be nothing left to rebuild this country. Buhari came to kill us all

The moment we all realize that, one way or the other, we have been part of this destruction, the sooner we can join hands to produce and consume everything nigeria.

If you understand the implications of this move you no go think of taking sides with the Nigerian government..when companies start dealing with the issue of remittance such as this other investors will be scared to invest...this country can not operate from the income from oil alone it's just not possible..it's just because of the election, nothing else
Heathrow44post=115845689:
Nigeria doesn't av Foreign exchange to give out to this airlines, USD is on rising and unstable not to talk of Euros and Pounds, repartition of this funds at this moment would hurt Nigerians economy that needs this forex gotten from oil sales for infrastructure development but in d other note the airline deserves their pay and d govt should negotiate an agreement on how d payment would be made in tranches overtime, if they still want to halt operations till full payment is made, they re free to do so

The selfishness of an average black man has no limit.

Just because you are too poor to travel out today does it mean that you will remain poor till you die?

There are too many people like you in this country and that's why Nigeria has remained at the bottom.

Most Asians and Caucasians try to make life better for their fellow man in any little way they can. That's why their countries are great.

Anyway, since you have condemned yourself never to be able to afford ticket-let me allow you to remain in that state

We will always remember OBJ for his smartness, detribalised leadership and patriotism. Baba recruited geniuses from all over the country irrespective of your tribe and the country was being led by smart people.
This Buhari ab initio only called up northern muslims to man almost all the important positions, now we are seeing the results everywhere. Decisions that can only make you shake your head in utter disbelief and wonder how common sense can completely elude the people in the highest positions of this country. Sad.

They already have enough naira in billions trapped in Nigeria.
How do they repatriate the money and use it to further their company?

Nigerian government and you is saying produce locally but this is a totally different issue, and it won’t be like this if Nigerian government had its on airlines

This is a really tough situation. Nigeria is blocking the repatriation of funds NOT because it wants to damage its reputation or deprive Emirates of its money, but we are really on strings now.

Every USD in the economy has to be scavenged and kept aside to finance importation - both of fuel and food.

Instead of insulting the government, Nigerians now need to be more patriotic in putting up a united front. For now, with the absence of Emirates and soon to be other international airlines, we should actively support our local airlines like Arik Air who are flying international routes and quickly launch Nigerian Air to complement them.

Emirates and by extension IATA should be patient and calm down. They will get their funds in due time, let's fix ourselves first.

If you know the amount of USD that the CBN Governor and his thievery colleagues at CBN are hoarding, you will be singing a different tone.

How can an ordinary mid level CBN staff own houses abroad? If you know the level of corruption happening there, you could become hypertensive.
