It’s not two UCL trophies in 26 years. The first 5 years of SAF’s regime, there was no english club participating in Europe. Liverpool got all English clubs banned for 5 years.

Secondly, only league champions qualified for CL until the mid 90s unlike now when you just have to make top 4 to qualify. The circumstances were very very different then.

Of course, he’s gone but the effect of his poor management is still there and they are taking a lot of time to erase. Maguire, Shaw and AWB are still at the club and it doesn’t seem they would leave anytime soon.

Ole spent £130m on Maguire and AWB. Just think about that for a second. Close your eyes and think about how many world class defenders United could have gotten with that amount of money.
