Fun fact : erm.....

A man (ojs) is standing in an empty apartment with a suitcase. His name is Choi woojin. We see him resigning at his work place, withdrawing his money and closing down his savings account saying he won't be around for much longer. On his way he meets a guy who says he was his schoolmate and his name is Byunghun. Woojin recognizes him but pretends not to know him cos he's holding insurance papers and he thinks he wants to sell insurance plans to him.

Flashback to 13 days ago. We hear woojin's voiceover saying "I worked harder than anyone but I was never lucky, I'm 35 now and I'm still not a manager, I'm tired of being angry, besides the only answer I get is " sorry" we see him confessing his feelings to a colleague and she tells him sorry that she likes someone else. Meanwhile (ksg) works in the accounting department in his office and has a massive crush on him but he always hides from her cos she gives weirdo vibes. Her name is sarang. His voiceover continues "life is so cruel, I started feeling sick. It hurt so much that I felt it would be better to die and the next day finally! Life granted me a small wish". We see him at the hospital, doctor tells him he has pancreatic cancer, it's terminal, there's nothing they can do, he has 3 months to live. He doesn't go to work for a couple of days and sarang is the only one sending him messages asking how he is. His voiceover continues "I have decided to accept my death".

He lodges into a suite at a 5 star hotel and pays for 3 months. The hotel staff fawn all over him wondering what he does for a living to afford paying for 3 months. He says he's just a traveler and they wonder if he's a Korean who grew up abroad, he tells them he has lived all his life in Korea and he just decided to take a special trip to say farewell to his unfortunate past. Lol they conclude he's a writer.

In his room he takes a journal and tries to write a list of things he's saying farewell too, he thinks and thinks but can't come up with anything. He decides to write down some of his happiest moments, he also can't come up with anything (me:aigoo which Kain life be this?). He finally writes down the name of his first love from college "minhui".

They meet at a Cafe, she has been married for 6 years and has kids. They bond over their days in college, how she was the prettiest girl in their department and all his friends wanted her but he ended up getting her. He says "if only we didn't drift apart..." she says we didn't drift apart, I dumped you. To be precise you made me dump you. He looks surprised. She asks "you don't remember? You were so selfish back then"

They are walking towards her house, he asks "minhui, if you think of me in the future, what would be the first thing that'll come to mind?, the thing that'll be a memory" she asks "why do you ask?" he says actually I came to say goodbye. She asks "are you emigrating?" he says sort of... A car passes slowly and minhui looks shocked, he asks if that's her husband? She says I have to go, wherever you go, have a nice life. He says he still wants to talk to her, he can say hello to her husband if she wants. She shouts in frustration, I have to go, you're leaving, what exactly do you want to talk about? She calms down and says sorry and runs towards the house. The man in the car comes out and gives her a bouquet of flowers. Lol woojin still goes to meet them and introduces himself to the man, minhui is uncomfortable. Woojin says I think I should explain cause I haven't finished speaking to minhui, I'm actually her first love, you don't have to worry about anything, I'm leaving soon. Please take care of minhui, for some reason she looks worried. The man says no problem. Woojin says minhui actually I came to tell you that I'm.... He's trying to tell her he's dying soon but he can't say it so he keeps stuttering I'm... I'm going to... I'm.... A man comes from nowhere and punches woojin saying die! (me: uhn?) minhui starts begging the punching man, he says I knew you were acting suspicious so I lied that I was going on a business trip and followed you secretly, how dare you bring him home. Lol the bouquet guy is shocked and scared, punch guy notices him and says my friend what are you doing here? Bouquet guy stammers and says he was just passing by. Lol punch guy apologizes and says I'm sorry you had to witness this my friend but wait did you know my wife was cheating on me? Lol minhui and bouquet guy look scared. Punch guy asks is that why you ran away the other day? I saw you running from our house that day, did you see them together? Lol bouquet guy says yes aigoo. Punch wants to continue to beat woojin but his wife and her boyfriend try to hold him. Woojin is shocked and tries to explain that he is innocent and the friend is actually the boyfriend but husband doesn't want to listen and minhui and her boyfriend stylishly beg him not to expose them (me: haha what a mess). Husband collects the bouquet from his wife and throws it at woojin, tells him to take his flowers with him and if he sees him again, he'll die.

He's in a taxi going home, he looks sad and tired and throws the bouquet away. The taxi driver says hang in there, in time everything will be forgotten. Woojin's voiceover says in time I'll be forgotten.

At home he holds his stomach in pain. His voiceover continues "I lost 4kg in 3 days if this trend continues in 3 months I'll be exactly 0kg. I will really be extinct". He receives a message from sarang "are you really quitting?, I'd like to say goodbye, how about dinner". His voiceover continues "to say goodbye to the past, you have to make the present the past, you need to put an end to things" the end!

He's waiting outside and sarang comes looking very excited, she says you've finally given in to my display of affection, I wanted to see you so much. Why did you call me out? He says let's date. She's shocked and says what? He says let's date. She stands looking at him in shock. He's surprised she's not jumping in joy and asks "is this not a dramatic moment?.." she cuts him shut screaming "everyone this man just proposed to me... He holds her to stop her and tells her to stop embarrassing him. She says she's so happy.

They go to an amusement park and she's the only one excited and having fun, he's just there going with the flow. They go to a bar, she orders beers, he tells her he doesn't want them to drink there, that they should go to a nice wine bar like the one in the hotel he's staying lol she smiles sheepishly and says it's too early to go to a hotel as they have just been dating for a day. He says do you know what 1 day means to me? She says it must be important, you even quit your job, is it because of gayeon? Everyone in the office is talking about it, she rejected you, you passed out and quit (gayeon is the colleague he had a crush on). He says passed out? She says I heard you clung onto her, crying. He says did gayeon say that? It was nothing like that, I ended it cooly like a man. Sarang scoffs and says why would you quit your job over that. He says if you're done with your beer, let's go. She says not today, I'm not an easy girl. She leaves smiling sheepishly.

He goes to the office to confront gayeon about the lies she spread around just because she found someone new to date, she says she didn't tell anyone anything about them that sarang was pestering her a few days ago and all she told her was that they were no longer dating. She tells him she's disappointed in him, after she rejected him, he didn't even ask why or try to fight for her, he just left and he has the guts to be angry that she's dating someone else. She says she did have some feelings for him but their feelings for each other were never that deep and he quit without even saying a word and she's having problems with her boyfriend but here he is disturbing her. He says I had my reasons, she says what's the reason? He says can you just date me for 3 months? She scoffs and says why just 3 months, he says I can't do more than that, I don't know what problems you're having with your boyfriend but leave him and date me for 3 months, I'm... I'm going to.... I'm... She cuts in, he's dying, my boyfriend has just 2 months to live (me: Lmao why is this funny?) lol he's quiet. She says I used to date him before I met you, he's a poor artist and he suddenly broke up with me, I later realized he was in the hospital for brain cancer, he has 2 months to live. He wanted to break up for me. Do you understand? That's love. So do you still want me to date you for 3 months? Lol he says no.

He's at his hotel suite taking his meds. He remembers minhui telling him he was selfish when they were dating, he remembers gayeon telling him he accepted her rejection because things weren't that deep between them. He receives a call from the lobby and goes downstairs where sarang is waiting for him. She says wow oppa this hotel is so big, I think I saw a celebrity just now. He says what's wrong with you, you must be a stalker right? She smiles and says you asked me to have wine with you here. He says not that, why did you go to gayeon, why did you make up that story? She answers nonchalantly "oh so that you can forget her quickly. Did you go see her? Tsk Tsk you're so obsessed. He asks why do you care? She says cos we're dating now, I'm your girlfriend. He sighs and says right, we dated, unfortunately we just broke up, I'm sad, you can leave (lol) he starts to drag her out, she struggles saying there's no intermediate period, why, I'll be good to you, what's the reason, what troubles you, what's your dilemma? (Lmao she's hilarious), she starts crying "where you just playing around with me?

They are at a bar. He sets alarm on his phone and says the next 10 minutes is our intermediate stage, I have to go eat after this. She says can we talk after eating? He eyes her. She says OK, why are we breaking up? He says because I don't like you. She asks why? He says you're ugly. She says what's wrong with me? He asks don't you know? She looks at her reflection on her phone and says I'm OK. He says look again, lol she does. He says OK, what's with your glasses, were you born with them, and what's with your hairstyle, do you go to a barbershop, Your clothes look like a school uniform, do you only have 2 sets of clothes? You eat snacks in a corner during lunch, people call you alien and you're not even good at your job, all you do is smile and fold cranes with receipts at your desk. She smiles and says you know so much about me. He says what do you mean? She says anyway that's all external, is there anything internal? He says no, in fact I don't even want to know. Are you happy now? She says so you hate me to death then? He says yes. She says OK. She brings out a pack of crackers and says I brought this to have wine with, I know there's snacks in the hotel but you can have it. She leaves

LOL he feels bad and calls her back to have dinner with him. As they eat she says wow oppa you must be rich

She enjoys the meal and he says wow this proves you're not an alien. She says I'd rather be an alien that enjoys the present than a normal human that worries about the future. They laugh and he asks why do you like me anyway? She says I don't know, do I have to have a reason? I just like you that's all, it's better than not liking anyone. He scoffs and says nothing special then. But why did you act strange? She asks what do you mean? He says don't you get offended when I reject you? She says that's my way of living with passion, that's why I can always smile.

They finish dinner and he walks her out. She asks him why he's living at the hotel? He says he just wants to be alone. She says then why are you at a busy hotel in the middle of Seoul. He tells her to go, she says smile, you should live the present with passion, it's not hard. Take one step forward, she takes a step towards him, holds his face in her hands and folds it to a smile, she says like this. She smiles and runs away, he smiles, she turns back to wave at him, he wants to wave too but he touches his face instead and smiles again.

In the room, he's still trying to come up with his list. His voiceover "I have to say goodbye, I keep looking back but I can't think of anything meaningful, even if I live for another 10 years, will it be the same?" he looks at the crackers sarang gave him.

The next day he calls her and says we didn't end things properly yesterday, i don't want you clinging to me but like you said, if i want to break up I should also know internal things about you, don't take it the wrong way, I've been saying goodbye to people lately, I don't know how to explain it... She cuts in "you want to meet?" he says yes (me: mumu lol).

He's in a taxi to go see her and he's humming (me: wow someone is finally being human lol). From the taxi he notices his friend byunghun crying by the side of the road. He gets to where sarang is and asks why she brought him to her neighborhood, there's nothing to do there. She takes him to their city hall and shows him an itinerary of hobbies he can do. Swimming, yoga, watching movies, writing. He says I can't swim, yoga's boring, I've seen all these movies and I hate writing. She takes him to a laugh therapy session where the therapist encourages everyone to laugh with the whole of their bodies cos it's good exercise and can cure any sickness. They all laugh, therapist says he's even worked in cancer wards and the cancer patients got stronger, he jokingly says laughter can cure cancer except if you have 2 or 3 months to live then I can't help you. Lol everyone chuckles and woojin laughs a loud and frustrating laugh lol everyone looks at him in shock.

Woojin and sarang take a walk around the neighborhood, she says I've lived here for 20 years. They pass some men playing chess and she says see those men, they'll fight soon. He doesn't believe her so she says wait and watch and immediately the men start fighting over the game. They continue moving and she misses her step, he holds her to stop her from falling, smiles and says you can't even predict your next move... She looks at him and says when you smile you look like a boy, did you know that? He says whatever. They continue moving and a bike rushes past them, he quickly grabs her out of the road and they have a bit of that mumu drama moment where the boy protects the girl in his arms lol. He nervously says I wonder how you're still alive, watch where you're going. She takes him round her neighborhood. They get to a supermarket and she says this is her family's store. He says wow so this is where you come to recharge, can we have some beer, she smiles and says no we don't have beer, he smiles and says why, did you drink them all? She says we don't sell beer, my dad's an alcoholic. She takes him to their house and introduces him to her younger brother mideum, woojin is shocked to see that mideum is paralyzed and using a wheelchair.

They sit outside and she says you asked me why I always smile, it's cos of mideum, he waits for me all day. To him I'm the outside world so I have to smile. That's my story, what's yours. He says I have nothing to tell you, I'm just a normal, pitiful guy. My mother passed away early, my dad remarried, he lives in Australia, I spent my youth struggling to pass exams and now... Now... Let's go. They start walking, she says so we're breaking up right? He says yes. She says any last words for me? He says you're a lot better than I thought you were. She smiles. He says why didn't I know that earlier? She says cos you didn't try to listen. He tells her to go in cos mideum must be waiting for her. She asks him if he's still not over gayeon. He doesn't respond, she scoffs. He tells her to have a nice life and to eat healthy foods during lunch instead of Snacks.

He's having dinner at the hotel and remembers how much fun he had eating with sarang. He remembers their moments together and her telling him "you didn't try to listen", he remembers ignoring byunghun in the beginning and seeing him crying on the street. He searches his documents and finds a childhood picture of he and byunghun, he smiles and we hear his voiceover saying there was a time I used to be happy and not worry about anything, I had forgotten the friends I had back then and the person I was.

At work, a letter comes for woojin and sarang collects it.

We see woojin at a funeral with Byunghun. Byunghun's moms funeral. Byunghun says remember that day I saw you at Seoul, I think my mom wanted to say goodbye to you. I hadn't seen you since middle school, it's been 20 years. Woojin asks if byunghun works at Seoul, byunghun says no he only went there to look into insurance plans for his mom. He tells woojin that he's not working, that 10 years ago he was really suffering and going through a tough time and he tried to reach out to woojin but couldn't reach him. Woojin apologizes and says he was studying for his exams and wasn't keeping in touch with anyone. Byunghun says we were best friends at one time and I'm glad to see you again before I die. Woojin says yes before I die.

A guy comes into the funeral hall, he's another childhood friend. He's surprised to see woojin and takes him outside to talk, he says he only came because he's the president of their alumni, woojin wouldn't know cos he's not been in touch with anyone but Byunghun has no friends. Apparently he used to be rich and married with kids, he owned a restaurant and while trying to expand it he went bankrupt, unfortunately he started gambling and went into more debt, he started scamming and stealing from family and friends, he even went to prison and right now he has no one since his mom is dead. Woojin decides to stay with him for the full funeral rites.

On his way home he thinks "if I had answered his call 10 years ago would I be able to help him, would it have changed, our lives".

He gets to the hotel and is surprised to see sarang waiting for him. She's dressed nicely and even wearing her hair nicely, no glasses, beautiful makeup l, she says she just dropped by on her way home, she's giving nonsense reasons why she looks different when he hugs her and says sarang, I'm going to die soon. She hugs him back.

The next morning, we see them in his bed (me: omona) he wakes up first and stares at her sleeping, then his stomach starts hurting, he rushes to the restroom and starts vomiting. She wakes up, dresses and pretends she didn't hear him vomit when he comes out. She asks if he'd like breakfast but he says no, she says they should go out for porridge since they had drinks last night.

He's waiting for her outside while she goes to get the porridge. He remembers gayeon telling her that her boyfriend broke up with her cos he was sick and that's love. He starts to walk away, sarang comes and waves to him, he starts to run, she runs after him. They run for a while till she catches him, she says you run well for someone about to die. Why did you run? He says fine, I'll tell you the truth, I don't have much time left, I don't want to cry and be melodramatic, things aren't that deep between us so let's just say bye, don't get the wrong idea because of what happened last night. We're both adults, that could happen, it's not meaningful. Do I have to spell everything out for you. Well I've told you, don't you still understand?. She shouts I know. He says then why did you run after me? She shouts to give you the porridge! She gives it to him and walks away.

He's at home lying down and looking at the crackers she gave him. His voiceover continues "I must really be dying, sarang seems pretty, I miss her". His phone rings and it's Byunghun calling, woojin says I must tell him goodbye.

At the office, sarang is still with woojin's letter. She says what exactly does he mean by he doesn't have time.

Woojin goes to see Byunghun and Byunghun tells him about a business he's starting and asks woojin to invest in it. Woojin realizes that Byunghun is trying to scam him but he feels sorry for him and since he doesn't have long to live, he agrees to invest in Byunghun.

Meanwhile apparently the letter for woojin with sarang is a correction from the hospital. He was diagnosed wrongly, he's ill but it's stress induced gastritis and the doctor that diagnosed him is actually a psychiatric patient that has schizophrenia and goes about in a doctors coat pretending to be a doctor *sigh* lol. Meanwhile sarang thinks he knows and the he's dying he's saying is cos he's still heartbroken over gayeon.

She goes to his hotel but they tell her, he already checked out (after giving all of his money to Byunghun lol).

He's walking around her neighborhood and lodges into a motel. He tries to call her number but stops every time lol, he finally eats the cracker she gives him and calls her.

She comes angrily and asks why he called her, if he's sick he should go to the hospital. He says he keeps thinking about her, he wants to be with her. She tells him to go get a call girl, he says he would have but he has no money. She rolls her eyes and gives him the letter from the hospital, she tells him to read it if he likes. He asks her if she will stay with him. She says no and leaves. He starts crying and tears the letter from the hospital without reading it (aigoo).

He runs to sarang's house where she's watching fireworks with mideum and shouts ya sarang, you're so heartless, don't you have blood or tears, How can you turn your back on me when I'm dying? I like you, I miss you, I want to be with you. She says what are you talking about, you chose to die...he shouts I know if only I met you earlier, if only I spent more time with you, if only I didn't have pancreatic cancer! She says cancer? He says yes. She starts laughing, he asks if the news is too much and it has affected her brain. He says he doesn't care, he doesn't want to be rejected, he cares about her too much, so please stay with me. Not for 3 months but even if I die after 3 days, stay with me, be my outside world until the day I die. She keeps laughing, she hugs him and says until the day you die right?

The next day we see him shouting at the hospital that he wants to kill the psychiatric patient. He has been in so much pain plus he threw away all his life's savings lol.

He goes back to working harder than he's worked ever. He's now dating sarang. Minhui divorced her husband and broke up with his friend, she tells woojin her memory of him is that he looks like a boy when he smiles so he should smile often. Byunghun returns 99% of woojin's money back and promises to live a good life. Woojin learns to enjoy life and be content. The endeu

WHAT I LIKED
1. Lol the cast, the story and the deadpan humor
2. There were also lots of symbolism but I think the most important was sarang and mideum which is literally love and hope? Faith? I can't remember but it's basically the most important thing to have in life.

Awwn extraordinary attorney woo has ended. I loved it so much. I like the fact that they ended it in a way that it doesn't matter if we get season 2 or not, I am actually content. Lol they really worked hard to repair Kwon min woo's character and I have forgiven him (hehe). Most importantly they finally explained why she counts to 4 before she enters a room and I'm just glad it's nothing really traumatic. Good job takes over from next week, dear dramagods let it be as good as eaw

Currently enjoying this series. It's giving me a vibe of the scene in W -when that animated character goes to prison - that they didn't show us

More reason to look forward to season 2.

Hopefully I finish the first season before then.
