Achicha chai!!! This your own. Looks very juicy.

This is one of my village delicacies. It's usually eaten during famine, what we call okochi. Chai! I love this meal eh?

I ate it last in the 90s when we traveled to the villa and grandma packed a lot for us to bring back to Lagos. Since then I've been looking for it in Lagos.

Please, can you drop the recipe for this juicy Achicha. Looks so inviting. Biko.

Aunty okochi means drought/harmattan

The dried cocoyam which is the major ingredient is harvested and dried during the harmattan season due to the high intensity of the sun and extreme low humidity.
It is usually eaten during the rainy season as little or nothing remains during the dry season which is another time for the preparation of the dried cocoyam, except grandma is just saving some for you guys till that time.

Mehn, I am already craving for it especially the type with enough palm oil, oil bean fruit (ukpaka/ugba), plenty pepper and onion. grin grin grin

Where do you see yours for #4500 my boss?....you are been cheated badly. I ate this in wuse market around February, a plate was #500 with kpomo. I'm an Igbo guy so I saw one man eating it and asked him where he got it, he directed me to the corner where the woman hawking it was at.
