Strike continues, FG yet to take concrete action – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Abuja branch, has told Nigerians that the ongoing strike will continue because the Federal Government is yet to call the union for discussion.

The ASUU’s branch chairman, Dr Kassim Umaru, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen at the end of its Congress, held at the University’s Mini Campus in Gwagwalada on Tuesday.

Umaru also challenged the Federal Government to reference any of the things done to bring to an end the ongoing strike.

According to him, Congress deliberated on issues around the strike and vehemently pronounced and rejected the offer presented by the Federal Government, adding that the National Executive Council (NEC) would meet at the end of the four weeks ultimatum to take its decision.

Umaru said, “As far as we’re concerned, the federal government hasn’t done anything to our various demands.

“The federal government should tell the Nigerian public what they’ve done. The two committees that were set up, the Nimi Briggs committee, the Jubrin committee, were set up and these committees had their recommendations.”

He added, “Our salaries are always negotiated. It’s not something you feel you can pay us. It’s something that you have to sit down to talk and agree that you can pay us.

“As far as we are concerned, our job is different from any other civil servants; it’s the job you are going back to do. You’re not paying for an hour. You’re paying for the job we have done, so it’s their responsibility to pay us and if they said they’re not paying us, it is a joke taken too far.

“As it’s, they have not called our union and Nigerians should know that we’ve not been called, no invitation to our union and all that we know is that the strike.

I'll urge every student out there to go look for work or learn a skill or a trade.

And of course get your PVC ready so Nigerians can massively vote for peter Obi. Only Obi can rescue this country from these criminals

Let them continue, the soldiers and police complaining for lack of weapon should also create an associate, and go on strike too.

Secondary and primary school teacher that are complaining about 15k per month salary should also strengthen their associations by merging, they should all go on strike too.

NMA and JOHESU should also merge so they can push for what they want, instead of migrating abroad, to people that doesn't even like them, the association should go on strike till fg double their salary, and provide enough equipment and PPEs.

Electricity workers should stop all this nonesense one day strike they always go for, go for indefinite strike, so their government would know what's going on.

Everyone should leave their place of work, come out and protest like we did during endsars, with seriousness, the revolution should spread to other African countries, let the foolishness of those we call leader stop, by the time we come out and start killing them one after the other.

The idiots hid millions of COVID-19 palliative, and lock millions of hungry people in their house.

They've used election to block people ears, we've forgotten that this same people have ruled us before and did absolutely nothing. Everyone is busy supporting same politicians that have been ruling us for over 20 years, 1 million match, trekking from states to states for the same politicians that ruled as governors before and did nothing. No one is talking about the 80 billion fraud, we are back to 2014 and 2018 situation, all we are concerned about now is voting the same leaders that have been ruling us, and couldn't achieve anything. Is this what we want to be doing every 4 years.

The UK Chancellor recently announced that UK is investing an extra £3.8bn investment in education and skills.

Unfortunately in Africa, we don't have this luxury. Always the opposite!

I only feel more for the students affected

The students are the ones on the receiving end.

It is not easy to be a student in Nigeria.

Imagine, using 6 years to study a four -year course or 7 years for a five-year course. It's disheartening

Political campaigns are to start in about a month, it will be interesting to see APC campaigning while ASUU is on strike except of course they have plans to rig the upcoming presidential election.

Boko Haram = Western Education is Abomination.
Buhari & his APC cronies place zero value on education.
Those who do not, have their kids studying abroad.

With APC, it's is...
Nigeria! Top to Bottom!
&Bottom to Bottomless Pit!
