Lol. You're wrong in this aspect.

There are lots of expats leaving their families and coming to work here and even establish businesses in Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania etc because it favours them very well.

I worked in a law firm that deals with lots of expatriates and I was opportuned to see how their Residence permit, Business permit etc are processed and these are Americans, Brits and Dutch people.

For foreign investors in Nigeria, they enjoy lots of benefits including
1.Tax reliefs.
2. Pioneer status (eg. A company involved in manufacturing pioneer products is exempted from payment of taxes for 3years and may be extended for additional 2years if needed).
3. Tax reliefs on foreign loans.
4. Repatriation of all 100% capital imported without seizure is guaranteed to foreign investors.

Why do you think the Lebanese, Chinese, Pakistans, Americans and a host of others like investing in Nigeria?
You should think twice again. wink
Like what relief exactly? Emirates got their $$ trapped in Naija.
In 2019, A US based Naija bought a house at N100m@$285k at N350/$1 in Lagos Island. Today, that house is worth N170M @$1/N690=$246k, so he has lost $40k in value even though it appreciated 70% in Naira value… but lost 20% in dollar value .

Poor Nigerians jaapa? Pls tell me you are joking sir.

Do you know how much it will cost you to jaapa? If you don't know, I can tell you it's not for a poor man.

I try to understand your point though.

Well, I put the word poor in quote, because its meaning is peculiar.

And yes, the real poor too dey japa o. Many Tailors, Mechanics, Tricycle riders, etc don dey japa too. Though it is mostly to places like Dubai, Kuwait, Poland, etc.

The same way poor pay dey save money to build houses is how they save to japa. And that's how you'll see people coming here to ask which foreign place #2m or so can take them.

I can still come back to Nigeria to take finance manager or CFO jobs paying over 2m a month. So tell me was i not wise to relocate If Nigeria burns or goes to war lets say i move back. There are Americans, dutch ,indians, chinese etc all over the world who don't go to their home countries regularly. I once stayed in the guest house of a client in port harcourt and met a mexican man there. He has not been to Mexico in 7 years and has even been kidnapped once in Nigeria. But he no go back because he is earning good as an expat here. So whats the big deal if Nigerians do same What is the point of seeing your families or wife when una dey suffer or facing uncertain future ehn A man who can’t provide for his family wont have a family for long. Less than 5% of Nigerians are outside Nigeria too
percentage?

I gave up on this country when people starts giving testimonials in church on how they've just gotten permanent residence abroad, they actually made a big ceremony about this. That says alot about the terrific situation the masses are facing. So it won't be surprising when people shun their emotions and choose the path that support their dream life.
as a church boy, I really hate that. The shouts, and endless applause, abi when them go come raise prayer point for 'canada or American visa. Africa has refused to wake up.. but the potential is there.

That is the sad reality of our day. Many families even end up falling apart after migration. The fear, anxiety, confusion, anger, emotional trauma are better imagined than experienced.

A parent abandoned their 2 years old son and came back after 13 years. The conversation between them was embarrassing and heart breaking.
Will the family separations stop? No. Is it worthwhile? Many only realize after the damage has been done.

Our greatest needs are for things that money cannot buy—namely, love, emotional security, and family unity.

So true. A lot don't realize this till they move there.

[The funny thing is that they don't become rich there. They are just average. Not many of them can own a house. They can't even afford to pay to bring their family all together for holidays in Nigeria. Very rich people here don't go there to live there. They go and come back home. You can't be rich in another man's land. You can't be richer than the natives. It's an algorithm that was designed to be so.[/i][/b]

1. Those rich people have second citizenships. The likes of Elumelu, Saraki, Dangote, Otedola etc., all have passports of developed countries.

2. The belief that by staying in Nigeria will make you rich or richer than those who emigrated has been disputed. It's entirely false. In fact, Nigerians in Nigeria are going to be poorer than their counterparts overseas. https://www.nairaland.com/6390993/dont-relocate-billionaire-nigeria-fantasy

3. There are many Nigerians who are wealthy by the virtue of migrating abroad. Most of the businesses in Nigeria were founded by those who emigrated years ago. Also, there are millionaire non-natives in developed countries. To you, someone like the CEO of Google or Novartis shouldn't have emigrated. The reason Nigeria has more billionaires is simply due to having more Nigerians than elsewhere. Elementary probability.

Kindly explain to me what made someone irrelevant just because that person exercises their God-given right in their pursuit of happiness wherever they can find it. I left Nigeria when I was 19. Today, after having obtained my Undergraduate degree and master from the University of Michigan in Engineering and Information Technology. I work from my own fully paid-for house here in South Florida designing and writing web-based B2B applications for fortune 50 companies. Apple and Orange comparison. FDI to Naija so far this year is less than $300m while Nigerians abroad send close $2bn every month.. not factoring in goods and services.
Lebanese and Chinese dont come Naija without capital.. they bring $$.. while Nigerians travel to China, EU without $$ and then send $$$ to Naija. Naija is a net gainer of capital $$ here

My friend what is there to talk about? Hmm?. You just want to be heard that's all. Is it today Nigerians traveling abroad for greener pastures? I ask o. Since even before i was born-over fifty years now- it has been happening. Movement is by choice or as the case may be a part of life fashioned by God himself. Don't paint in our mind that it only happens in Africa or Nigeria alone. Moving around the globe for survival is age-long, even animals do. Are other Nationals not in Africa?

I mean families are being separated daily due to economic migration from Nigeria to overseas because the country isn't working.

They're many lonely wives separated from their husbands who work abroad

Brothers are separated from their brothers and sisters because they've gone to seek for greener pastures

Some parents haven't seen their children for years because they've gone for greener pastures

You don't see Americans, British or Dutch people separating from their families just to work in Africa.

Why is everything the opposite for Africans.

Funny a thing the black Africans count it as an achievement to migrate to a white man's country and abandoning his own root to rot away.

Was the black man created on a sunny day?

Help me solve this puzzle

Nigerians are roaming around the world and unto the ends of the earth like cursed people - and folks back home celebrate it that - he don jappa -- real thing is he has gone on economic exile from our own land of birth - seeking safety from gross insecurity and bad leadership

this is slave trade all over again - this time there are no ships anchored on the sea side- it is now mental slavery as the people are giving up and using their own money to flee their land of birth for strange climes were they are never welcomed or if they are, they struggle so hard to fit in - it is catastrophic !!!
