Victor Adebukunola Banjo Who Fought For BIAFRA by JUMO95: 7:12am On Aug 27, 2022
Lieutenant Colonel Banjo was the first Nigerian Director of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps of the Nigerian Army.

When Biafra was proclaimed on 30 May 1967, President Odumegwu Ojukwu promoted BANJO to colonel.
When the Nigerian Army invaded Biafra on 6 July 1967, Ojukwu sent Banjo and Major Albert Okonkwo to invade Nigeria.

Banjo was able to capture Benin City in less than a day and was able to get within 300 kilometers of then-capital Lagos.
After Banjo was repulsed at the Battle of Ore, he and other officers (Emmanuel Ifeajuna, Phillip Alale, and Sam Agbam) were accused of plotting a coup against Ojukwu.

After a hurried trial, that some authors characterized as biased, they were found guilty of treason and sentenced to death.
They were executed by firing squad on 22 September 1967 in BIAFRA

Dude got to Ore without any resistance and started playing tribal politics. That was the biggest mistake made by Ojukwu; trusting a Yoruba man with leading the attack to free Lagos. It totally changed the cause of that war. It was supposed to be a striking attack to land Biafran soldiers in the heart of Lagos and send shivers down the spine of northern Army officers that hitherto occupied Yoruba land, but Banjo and his group had other ideas. Contrary to what you read from pro establishment minions, no one stopped Banjo at Ore. He stopped by himself and started making contacts with his Yoruba folks and they all conspired to torpedo the Biafran onslaught. Look at how great that worked for the "beautiful" country called Nigeria today...

So he should have helped Ojukwu to turn Yorubaland to a theatre of war? You think Ojukwu who treated the people of Niger Delta like shiit would have done otherwise in Yorubaland. Abeg, Banjo sacrificed himself for a good cause.
That's why his children are respected till today in Yorubaland. I've met some of them personally. Look at how the igbos later treated Ojukwu who risked his life for them.

I cant blame Ojukwu for allowing Victor Banjo to lead the Biafran onslaught on Lagos, he probably thought that Yorubas would rally around Victor Banjo to chase the Northern Army out of Lagos and Ibadan and proclaim their freedom

The mistake Ojukwu made was thinking that the Yoruba nation were ready to stop being slaves of the Hausa/Fulani oligarchy

Adebanjo was first a yoruba son before becoming a soldier. When he got to the territory of his people, he had to think twice.
That is the characteristic nature of a true omoluwabi.

Who told you that Nigeria would have become Dubai or Canada if you got your Biafra?

Why are the eastern state still poor and uninhabitable for most easterners till date despite the fact that they have bn govern by their kinsmen.

You're very smart.
Over the last few weeks, the corrupt minds that have kept this country in the mud have been trying to rehash all sorts of Nigeria vs Biafra war stories to build up enough animosity against Obis candidacy. Having failed to tie him to IPOB, folks have now chosen to milk the Biafran war tities yet again...
They are obviously playing the tribal card as usual

How has the east been governing themselves when Abuja has been making rulers and policies over everyone else since 1970 and where did I tell you that Nigeria would have been Dubai!? Nigeria would have been something more than Dubai! Why do you think that is impossible? Inferiority complex?

They all know me,they have tried severally to pitch ss against se.
Every day ijaw these, ijaw that against Igbo.
I bursted such liars,as the only tribe closer to igbos is ijaws.
Infact most people think and mistake ijaws for igbos.
People like gej, timaya, patiance,Hilda dokubo are generally called igbos.
I advice Peter obi supporters should look at for such liars and immediately dismantle them.
Peace

FCT was not in Abuja in 1970. Abuja does not leaders for anyone.
Igbos have been leading the eastern states since the return of democracy and we have not seen any credible improvement in the east.

The argument is, do you think a Biafran east would have been better when you put into consideration the caliber of leaders in that region?
