we completely withdrew after the goal, which isn't a good thing. still shows there's confidence issues, coupled with the fact we couldn't hold the ball up the field.
the bright side is there's way less panic when we defend our own box. even when we don't win the first cross or clear poorly, players take up good cover positions swiftly.

It is not "confidence issues."

The team as currently constituted is set up as 6 defenders, 4 attackers, and a goalkeeper who lobs the ball when there's no natural #9. The midfield will be relinquished to any team with an astute game plan.

You can't hold the ball with such setup. Besides Eriksen and Martial, who else can hold the ball? Same Eriksen by the way who is being run into the ground as a defender. Martial is a medic.

The defense which has been a shining light in the last 2 games will fall apart when (not if) Varane gets his usual injury. Eriksen will gas out by middle of the season. ETH is saying he needs quality players. He should not have put all his eggs in the FdJ basket. That will be his fatal flaw.

I keep on hearing that his favorite position is the lw but man has been shocking. He needs space to thrive, nobody is going to give him that

I remember mentioning the space issue when I watched him play for England.

Still outshine rashford and elanga today. The pitch is also not helping situation.
sancho did not show for him to outshone.. at least elanga still had chances he missed.. rashford can be non existent, but he's always a gaol threat even when we play rubbish

Elanga is our future Rooney. He still needs time to develop. Rome wasn't build in a day. Just wait and see when he will be banging goals.

He has been hitting gym recently which show he is ready to develop

I have been saying it na. I wasn't deceived at all. That's why I'm angry at our useless dof. Even if ETH was deceived, which is understandable because he just got here, others already at the club should have said no way

We need to take some pressure off him by getting another winger that's tricky and fast. If we had lost to LFC, we would have completed more deals by now

if the manager understands the limitations in his team and sets up to compensate, I don't see a problem with it. there's need to lob the ball out from goal kicks and we all know why except we choose to bury our heads in the sand. we need better quality in specific positions like CM and attack yes, but in the mean Ten Hag need to churn out points somehow or his neck is on the block.

we are only 4 games into the season. I don't understand what you mean by a player being run down. Erikson's skillset will better serve us in the pivot as things stand. Erikson and Bruno interchange in games even if Bruno goes forward more, it's understandable. he's better in front of goal and covers more distance.

the board should do their part in player acquisition. it's quite simple.

Haaland doing my FPL proud...
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by kozmicity: 4:41pm On Aug 27, 2022
E be like say you no fit change captain in the FPL after the matches for that day has begun. Bruno and Sancho were my captains. Immediately after the game I switched it to Bernardo Silva and TAA, But the Points isn't refecting accordingly. Besides, on the points page, I'm still seeing Bruno and Sancho as my captains.

Someone please explain the workings to me

Haaland with 3 well-taken goals.

6 goals in 4 games.

Good luck with Martial and Elanga

I did not complain about ETH's practicality, did I?

I specifically responded to your inference that the team's withdrawal after the first goal was due to "confidence issues." That's patently untrue.

This game from start to finish is essentially a good day for this current Man U team. The difference between this game and last year is a competent back 4. This back 4 with last year's attacking performance, as bad as it was, could have very well made top 4.

I seriously doubt that ETH will be able to get this team to play possession football or control games unless he gets a ball-playing, quality CM. It's looking unlikely at the moment. So it really doesn't matter if its game 4 or game 27; when Varane gets injured, we'll get RagnickBall (whatever that was). Eriksen visibly looks off it after 60 minutes, he can't keep up his current role without adequate rotation. That by the way is not forthcoming.

Good on ETH to be practical with his game setup, especially after Brentford. But unless quality additions get in the midfield, this is very near the zenith of what this crop of players are capable of.

All told, while Murtough takes most of the blame for the poor recruitment, ETH WILL deservedly get lampooned for going all in with FdJ, not sussing out DDG's ball-playing weakness before the start of the season, and placing his faith in Martial. IIRC, this was why he was appointed early. Thankfully, I'm not expecting anything this season, but the fickle nature of club fandom means his head will get on the chopping block when the back 4 inevitably drops a disasterclass because of an absence or sth else.

alright I get your point.
peradventure no CM come in, what do you think of an Iqbal-Casemiro-Erikson set up on occasion, with respect to midfield control?

You can't make edits when the gameweek has started.

1 hour to the first kick off, you will have to wait till the next week for your changes to take effect.

Check youtube for visual explanation on how FPL works

Better for midfield control than the midfield that started today. But Man U would need to have a good run of games before ETH will try that.

Personally, I think Bruno should be sacrificed momentarily for better control. But the attacking situation is so dire, that such a proposition seems suicidal.

There have been few strikers like Haaland. His physical attributes are unique and he is a very intelligent player as well. The only saving grace is that his passing and dribbling techniques are not the best but he is already a cheat code as it is.
