I recommend Hong Kong, because it is major global financial centre and one of the most developed cities in the world.

Me that detest job, the fact that I must work for someone in abroad to survive there is the major reason I reverse my interest from migrating to abroad. Even in my country here Nigeria where my nature adaptiveness is met I never there let alone a strange land.

1. All the professional jobs are given to Canadians first before other nationalities. Why do many people think if you go to Canada ,they will give you a good job immediately. 2. The seasons are not all cold, you have 3 months of summer ,2 month of fall which is that is not so cold. Core winter start in late November and to mid march. And spring start late March to late May which is not so cols. Bundle up, dress up. As cold dey there, hot dey for naija. Even the winter months, some days are warm due to global warming.
3. There is dignity in labour, what is wrong driving Uber? Those who are doing it, are they not human beings like you ? Are you better than them because of your degrees from Unilag or Ui, If you cannot do uber or other jobs because you are a professional, then you have no business going to Canada. Even Canadians do Uber, plus Uber has given many people opportunity to make money.
4. The system depends on taxes, you can seehow tax works- good road, constant electricity, affordable healthcare and even a form of social programs to take care of Canadians and their senior citizen. If you do not like paying tax, please come home to Nigeria.
5. Social life- be open and be friendly. Those who are friendly with you, be friendly with them. And if you are bored, play videogame, call your friends and hang out. Nigerians are everywhere so make friends.

1. There are people building wealth in cheaper provinces like Alberta or New Brunswick where houses go for 300k to 400k. In Ontario its like 900k to 1.5m for the average house and you suppose drop 5% deposit for mortgage. Married people or common law guys are able to build wealth too due to combined income. Solution is move to a cheaper province, get married or find a partner.
2 . Cost of living- where in the world is not costly. With all the amenities, free resources, and standard of living why should it be cheap

I know a consultant Hematologist (medical doctor) who couldn't cope with the cost of living in Canada, infact he couldn't practice his profession and he became frustrated. He left but his wife refused leaving, so they divorced. The man remarried after he came back to Nigeria and he's really doing so great and happy.

If they tell you the truth, you'll say they're trying to discourage you from traveling abroad.

He sent the money but I did not rest. Every minute my phone will ring. Baba was policing me about. To even waybill it to him in Canada via DHL was another 23K. That one was another war. Shipping from Nigeria to Canada takes like 3 days. Those 3 days ehn, I did not rest atall.

After I shipped the product to him and he received it, I blocked his line biko. He was already stressing me, policing me and giving me headache.

This is all true. But opportunities exist in Canada. Also you are not scared of this rampant insecurity. Finally if you have a Canadian PR, you are more likely to get a long term visa and move to the USA for more opportunities or even other countries.

As a Nigerian immigrant residing in Canada for 3 years now, here are some of the reasons why people are leaving Canada.

1. Building wealth is hard: Unlike other western countries, particularly the US, it’s really hard to become wealthy in Canada. Taxes are higher in Canada than UK, the US, and even Australia. Canada thrives at redistributing wealth and making sure everyone is at the same income level. It favors low-income earners because they get to enjoy govt benefits, this demotivates people from working hard to become better versions of themselves. For most immigrants, they work hard and succeed in their professions, when they get to high-income bracket where they have to pay almost 50% of their income in Taxes it gets frustrating so they decide to leave. The key is not to continue looking for jobs that pay higher and higher. Once you reach 85 -100k per annum income bracket, open a side business to push in your expenses.

2. High cost of living: After paying so much in taxes, you spend what is left of your income on bills to live a good life. Expensive houses, high insurance cost, high phone/internet bills, food, and a lot more. The average cost of renting a single room apartment in Toronto is $2,000 per month, the average salary of Canadians is $50,000 per year! Isn’t it insane that you’re spending over 30% of your income on rent? This is another reason why people leave. (So Toronto is the whole of Canada? Besides your single room cost is false; a quick search on Kijiji shows that a high-end one bedroom in Toronto is $1500, so a single room should be $850-$1000)

3. Boredom/Loneliness: Most immigrants have been seen to encounter their first depression once they move to abroad. Like other western countries, Canada could get very boring and lonely. There isn’t so much to do in Canada even in the big/busy cities. Even though Canadians are considered “Nice” People rarely interact with one another; it’s so hard making friends or building long-lasting connections. Immigrants are used to having people-friendly culture and family-oriented relationships with friends and neighbours, so they miss that lifestyle and leave. Not entirely true, Nigerians want to stick to Nigerians and there are not many Nigerians in Canada. It is not hard to make friends or build long -lasting relationships. Those Nigerians who are marrying Canadians, do they have two heads?

4. Cold: This thread would be incomplete if I don’t mention the harsh weather conditions in Canada. Summer barely lasts for 3 months and the rest of the year you’re cold. Is the weather unbearable? Absolutely not, but it’s very sad and depressing. Imagine having to go to work on a cold morning at 6am when it’s pitch black (cos sunrise during winter is like 7am) to a survival job that doesn’t care if you’re 10 minutes late. There’s something called winter depression and it’s unexplainable, you have to witness it yourself to fully grasp what it’s like. As most people age, they just can’t deal with the cold anymore and would rather move somewhere else that is much warmer. I agree its cold. To avoid winter depression buy SAD lights and take lots of vitamin D. Stop sitting at home covering yourself, go out and ski, buy a toboggan. At least I am sure that in Ottawa there are Nigerian parties and get togethers running from July (summer) all the way to December. Find one and attend.

5. Getting professional jobs: I think it’s insane that Canada encourages skilled workers to immigrate to Canada to start a new life only to not consider them professional enough to get into the professional workforce. Most people have to start all over from the scratch in their careers, it’s even worse for healthcare professionals (Doctors, Nurses, etc) they spend several years trying to get licensed to practice while managing with ridiculous jobs like support workers, Uber drivers, etc. It’s very sad to leave your home country as a Medical Doctor just to become someone else’s food delivery guy. What about for other professionals? They start off their careers with just anything to pay the bills cos they can’t land their first Canadian job without having Canadian experience!! How do I get Canadian experience if you don’t hire me? Are you saying I don’t have transferable skills after migrating here as a “Skilled-worker”? Some people just get fed up and move to other countries with higher-paying jobs. Not true except for Medical doctors, Getting professional jobs is purely a thing of the mind. If you think you can, you will. If you don't think so you wont and it will be very hard. You also forgot to mention that Canada has a severe labour shortage. I have been looking for a communications assistant for my organization for three months, I haven't found. I had to move some of the communication tasks as a remote position to someone here in Nigeria (pending when we succeed in hiring) and pay the person for it
