Protecting the pipelines to moribund refinaries . Hopeless at it peak

Not just refineries sir.

Me think the contract encompasses those enroute to the loading terminal. Especially the Bonny terminal that is presently losing 95% crude.

To stop stealing hand over your property to a thief to look after it and he can't steal it again. That's what the Govt did..

One of the best decision NNPC ever made in a long while.
You can’t be losing 95% crude to pilfering and not engage those who know the terrain to stop this magnitude of pilfering.
Unfortunately, the people that got 48bn will still collaborate with the armed forces and the oil thieves to get more money from the system.
The problem in the country is the lack of strong institutions not men. The punitive system is not water tight. The reward system is biased

Come and see how civil defense officers are buying cars anyhow in the Niger delta, the Nigerian security operatives are the main oil thiefs, they always collect money and look the other way, these bunckery sites are not hidden at all, they are all over the place

Pay the Nigeria army and navy same amount as tompolo and there will be no theft ever again

This is a smart talk but they will discard it like a piece of shit.

Why enrich a bandit and still have the nerves to justify it? Omoh! Buhari’s Government is doing everything that they accused Jonathan’s Government of. Unfortunately, they are overdoing it.

It's not 95%. They just enriched Tompolo for nothing.
70% of trunklines in land and swamp terrains are not operational due to several tap points on them. Most of the Operators are currently barging and are not ready to return to those leaking pipelines anytime. Only offshore pipelines are safe now.

If you know what is going on in Niger Delta you will appreciate federal government on this. All the youth over there are into bunkering but immediately they heard that tompolo is in charge now they all withdraw from the business unlike when they normally settle Navy and police they can’t try that now. Thank you Buhari

Its because they want to pave way for dangote to gain access to Niger delta crude for his refinery.

This government greed and hurry made them cancel an existing contract with Tompolo.
Jonathan on his wisdom had similar contract with Tompolo, instead thus government came cancelled and declared him wanted.
Wasted 7yrs and lost alot on crude smuggling, now they have come to their senses.

It's obvious nobody knows the creek like the Niger deltans

No, Johnathan started this crap, you don't buy peace, you fight for it, 4 Billion naira monthly to the Navy would secure Nigerian costal line (cut off illegal weapon smuggling on high sea), pipeline, and you'll see the Nigerian Navy do their duties diligently and send anyone causing trouble in that region to meet their maker.

Institutionalise true and fiscal federation. Not award contract to protect against crude oil theft - an exercise in futility. The taxes the states that own the crude oil will pay to a true federal government may be higher than what the federal government gains today from crude oil.

We are on the same page sir. Things went worse immediately this present Federal Govt canceled Tompolo’s contract as awarded by GEJ.

Guess you have finally seen the wisdom behind GEJ’s decision and have gone back to Tompolo.

It will also create employment along the line. Atleast I know of few persons that have been asked to report back to the Niger delta from their base in Abuja and Lagos.

This will become our reality someday in the future. But let’s make do with what we have today.

Oga, when buhari came in and canceled all the pipeline protection contracts, and chased Tompolo into the Bush, zombies here were happy, claiming new sherif in town. Contract that stopped the ND agitation and allowed the countries crude production to increase under yar adua to 2m barrels per day!
Now aboki dumbhead comes and cancels it all, it finally took him 7 years of our production reducing to just a little over 1m barrels per day, reduced revenue and wanton theft of all our crude to the extent that a super tanker could park for weeks to load 3m barrels of crude successfully to realize his folly and return to the agreements made by his predecessors.
What has suffered? Nigeria's economy and its people.

Tompolo Refinery on the making. No be only Dangote Refinery in the creeks.
Return true and fiscal federalism to Nigeria. The Tea Party under unitary government system disguised as federal government system, is fast closing. Crude oil theft results from anger over how people, in the name of one Nigeria, come from more than 1000kms away to own and manage the crude oil and gas deposits in the Niger Delta. And the Niger Delta and rest of Nigeria never got better from unitary government system.

If ASUU hears this they will never call off the strike, more evidence showing that the FG government has this money but they are unwilling to disburse for peace to reign.
I raise my case.

This is unfair. If Niger Delta separatists are given contracts then we should give ISWAP contracts as well.

Then why did APC use it to campaign against Jonathan??

Infact they said GEJ used the contract in disguise to compensate his kinsmen and amass funds for election.
