Day 4 I had to put the flip cover on their feeder to prevent feed wastage and the wood shavings from getting into their feed Day 5 I removed the carton I used as bedding,raised there water drinking to prevent them from pooing inside the drinker. I was not able to provide artificial lightning for them at night because there was no place to charge the torchlight. I reduced the hours used in providing heat Day 6 I stopped using antibiotics,I am careful not to overload their liver because of their tenderness. Everything seem good. 2 Likes 1 Share

Day 8,1 week 1 day. I gave them ordinary water to give them a break from the medication. The turkeys have started flying,I had to remove them from the brick hole I used to partition the pen. I may need to put another coach of block. |

Day 9,1 week 2 days I placed them on embacox,a coccidiostat to prevent coccidiosis. I will give them for 3 days give plain water for for 2 days and repeat medication for 2 days. I will need to get an hanging feeder for the birds because the wood shavings is always getting its way into the flip-top feeder I currently use. 1 Like

Day 10, 1 week 2 days I got them an hanging feeder and an alternative power source,a very cheap one which helped to solve power problem to an extent,I have stopped providing them external heat. I am running out of wood shavings,it is scarce and damn expensive,a 25kg bag is #500 Price of hanging feeder #2000 Torchlight and battery #500

Sunday 28/08/22 Today makes them 2 weeks,they have consumed 12.5kg of feed which is equivalent to an half bag. I will have to get them a full bag of feed on Monday. The broilers have outgrown them weightwise,the turkeys are now becoming a nuisance by always flying over the two coaches of block used as partition.

Tuesday 30/08/22 week 2 day 2 They completed the anticocci medication. I am contemplating separating the broilers because of their consumption rate. |

Wednesday 31/08/22 week 2 day 3 I served them a full four liter measure of feed,they finished it in two days,these guys ain't nice they are voracious eaters. Today, I will put little aloe Vera extract in their water for an hour or two then plain water for the rest of the day. Yesterday, I noticed a stunted broiler with swollen vent among the birds.

Why not buy a kerosene lantern, it will serve as light and heat source, you should be able to use 1 litre of kerosene for a week. |

Great work...are u sure 150k can finish rearing the birds till maturity.. foreign turkey are voracious eaters as well. |

150k will never be enough, each turkey will finish 1 bag of feed. unless you will sell the chicken first and raise money to continue. each 10birds need 3 bags of feed to gain 3-4kg weight |

uche393: You are right sir. Turkeys FCR is between 2.8-3:1 Target weight is 15kg,which means I will need roughly 45kg of feed to achieve that weight |

01/09/22 week 2 day 4 Time to separate the boys from the men I weighed the quantity of feed I gave them yesterday,it was a little bit above 2kg. I was surprised when I got to the brooding room to find their drinkers empty and the feeder almost empty. It is about time I separated them, my major concern is out to stop the turkeys from flying over the two coaches of block I want to use as partition, second is how to get an adult feeder for the noilers and broilers. The turkeys will be fed ad-libitum while the broilers and noilers will be on a ration diet, I may dispose the broilers since they have fulfilled the purpose I initially bought them for,I will keep the noilers for their eggs and meat -offspring too

04/09/2022 week 3 I moved the broilers and noilers to the other room reduce cost of feeding. I left the stunted broiler with the turkeys

06/09/2022 week 3 Day 2 I gave them miavit multivitamin,on the second day I noticed the turkeys were excreting black pasty poo. I suspected it might be too much of protein or they were reacting to the multivitamin, I was opportuned to visit a vet store the woman advice me to stop the multivitamin to observe if there would be changes
