Good day everyone, Please what is the required size of apartment/room for family reunion in germany. I am studied, live and work in Germany. I want to bring over my spouse (no child yet). Is a studio which is also called self-contained of 35m2 enough? That's where I am living currently. But I do not know if it will be accepted. By quadrat meter, I guess this meets the requirement based on my research but it's just that it is 1 room. Some people told me to go and get a 2 rooms apartment (here in Germany, they refer 1 room and parlour as 2 rooms). They said it's the number of rooms that determines and not the quadrat meters. Any info about the room requirement. Please help. Thanks |

fenny92: My understanding is as long as you don’t have kids and you’re not living in a WG or student apartment, a 1 room is enough for family reunion. Because the minimum size you’ll find for such a room would be 24/25sqm. It would be a silly argument for a 2 rooms apartment to be requested when Germans live as couples in studio apartment all the time. At most, they would request for a confirmation from your landlord that 2 people can live/be registered in that apartment. Cheers 2 Likes |

Hi everyone, currently filling the verification of document form and was wondering how to fill the first section about all the names of the applicant. In cases where there has been a change of name for my wife, how do we fill in her former surname as well in this form? Any advise is appreciated.

Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 3:24pm On Aug 28, 2022 |
User her current surname and names as is written on her change of name sworn affidavit, newspaper and passport. You will see space to write her former surname when filling the visa form. Make sure she carries the newspaper publication, court affidavit and 2 copies each to the embassy as supporting documents. To avoid further delay. I'm packing everything packable, lol. jbonito: |

Aminattah: Your known identity is your passport. So whatever names you are filling should be exactly as it is on your passport. So if there is a change of name whatsoever, all you need is your sworn affidavits of change of name and newspaper publication.2 copies each . Best of luck. |

nuel80: You are right, but to correct you. My job contract is in English, and yes, it's a German company. I also previously worked for a German company when I was a student, the job contract is in German and English. I studied in Germany, and the Ausländer officer speaks English with me right from day one of my student permit, to blue card. I've been in Germany for almost 3.5 years, I can't speak German. It's not a do or die, if you work in IT... My company emails, meeting and documentation is 100 percent in English. But I have applied for an integration course, though; I intend to start in October. 1 Like |

pseudonomer:Sir/Madam, why did you opt in for an integration course when you think you can do without German language ? And are you also going to write your exams and take your classes in English ? Don’t be deceived or try to deceive anyone. If you plan to have your life in Germany, you MUST learn German. And by the way, I have only been in Germany for 14 months and my language level is okay. My aim is to apply for a permanent residency before I spend 3 years here in Germany, therefore I’m currently attending a politics class. Don’t screw your chances!! 2 Likes |

nuel80: Like I said, it's not a do or die if you work in an IT, I only applied because my foreign officer only gave me an official signed stuff, because according to him, it's better I do it because it will be subsidized for me, and lots of benefits to get citizenship faster. Basically, there's google translate and deepl which is better than Google translate. Also, as a blue card holder, you will get a permanent residence after 33 months with A1, I have A1 certificate but can't speak jack. As a German university graduate, you will get a permanent residence after 24 months with no reference to language. I have both. You should have a language skill in the country you live in, same as Czech or Netherlands where nearly everyone speaks English...but it's not a do or die matter. I have a friend who is a senior software engineer, works for FAANG, but can't speak German, he lives in Berlin and here for almost 6years. If you don’t have skills, German is a must… you can't do warehouse jobs without German except Amazon. I know nearly all German laws without speaking German, it’s easy these days. I only support the user who said learning German is not a do-or-die matter, I know some of my classmates in the university that focused on German instead of skills and internships, but they are not still employed. Learning German is necessary if you plan to live longer in Germany, but it's not like you'll die without German, and it's not like knowing German will get you a job that your skills do not qualify for. Learn German, but don't be scared... It's not a 1 or 0 situation 2 Likes |

Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by omabisco: 7:10pm On Sep 02, 2022 |
JahBwoy: Just to update on this, pre-approval is still not out, the relocation manager from my office said when they followed up, the labor office said there is delay because of Ukraine situation. Anyways I went ahead and applied for visa without it as I was running out of time ( I applied from another EU country which my visa there expires in few weeks to avoid Nigerias long wait for appointment) and got a response the next working day. |

Convert the required fees to naira using black market rates. The embassy will likely use official rates. The idea is to have more than enough naira on you. That way, whatever amount the embassy requests of you, you can pay immediately. Remember that exchange rates keep changing. Ahmed4002: |
