mfm04622: All the successive governments you talked about are filled with military men and government workers. Peter Obi is a businessman, traders can never lose money, even if it's government money. |

We need ajaokuta steel running, unless it is beyond repair. Mining steel will create a lot of jobs and value chain down the line, and help against the free fall of the naira, due to too much importation. 1 Like |

PresidObi: What would Obi do differently. Plenty traders dey lose money. Also, this is NOT about trading! The earlier we all realize there is no magic wand anywhere. To build a Nigerian we want need HARD work over a LONG time! So, what do you think Obi would have done differently? 3 Likes |

Reminds me of how the PDP abandoned the Warri Itakpe railway that was supposed to ferry iron ore to the steel plant. It's like building an airport without building the runway for planes to land and take off. 3 Likes |

A decorated donkey is still a donkey. A white elephant project is still a white elephant. The government should simply have cut its losses and run but chose to return to its vomit and claim back this white elephant. It will sink in money again to accomplish nothing. I am certain if steel production was really profitable, the concession holders would have plowed money into it rather than to strip its assets as the government claims. Ever since China started over producing steel and causing a massive glut, it would have been unwise to invest in steel manufacturing. It's even much cheaper to import than to produce locally. 2 Likes |

This is not Buhari's own created problem this is one of such many reasons we had to end PDP regime at Aso Rock. However, this is why we need to do brain scan for anyone running for political office in the country. Majority don't know the implications of agreement they are signing on behalf of FG. One Adamu with the lowest of low IQ and graduate of Let My People Pass northern school must have been the one responsible for bringing this liability on the country especially after the foreigner must've bribed the mad man with barely 2% of what FG must now pay. 1 Like |

engrjosefz: The ajaokuta still steel plant should be blown up and mined with explosives to discourage further investments. The "only getting it right" is to completely dispose of the plant asap. If a fraction of the money sunk into Ajaokuta was used to set up an industrial park and subsidize investors, it would have been a far better way to go 2 Likes 1 Share |
