Which FG? The OBJ's FG that signed the contract? Or successive govts that have not been able to resolve the issue?
Must you condemn everything the govt do? Even when they do the right thing?

What do you think Obi would have done different?

All the successive governments you talked about are filled with military men and government workers.

Peter Obi is a businessman, traders can never lose money, even if it's government money.

We need ajaokuta steel running, unless it is beyond repair. Mining steel will create a lot of jobs and value chain down the line, and help against the free fall of the naira, due to too much importation.

What would Obi do differently.

Plenty traders dey lose money. Also, this is NOT about trading!

The earlier we all realize there is no magic wand anywhere. To build a Nigerian we want need HARD work over a LONG time! So, what do you think Obi would have done differently?

Reminds me of how the PDP abandoned the Warri Itakpe railway that was supposed to ferry iron ore to the steel plant.

It's like building an airport without building the runway for planes to land and take off.

A decorated donkey is still a donkey. A white elephant project is still a white elephant.

The government should simply have cut its losses and run but chose to return to its vomit and claim back this white elephant. It will sink in money again to accomplish nothing.

I am certain if steel production was really profitable, the concession holders would have plowed money into it rather than to strip its assets as the government claims.

Ever since China started over producing steel and causing a massive glut, it would have been unwise to invest in steel manufacturing. It's even much cheaper to import than to produce locally.

This is not Buhari's own created problem this is one of such many reasons we had to end PDP regime at Aso Rock. However, this is why we need to do brain scan for anyone running for political office in the country. Majority don't know the implications of agreement they are signing on behalf of FG. One Adamu with the lowest of low IQ and graduate of Let My People Pass northern school must have been the one responsible for bringing this liability on the country especially after the foreigner must've bribed the mad man with barely 2% of what FG must now pay.

I grew up in this steel city, I knew when the Indians came looting the company's assets, but then, why would FG go into a blind concession agreement with them in the first place?

I believe FG had elites and good lawyers who are well schooled to understand and interpret bids for contracts. Many shady stuffs some selfish individuals do to enrich themselves.

If the dispute can be resolved, it's a plus for Nigeria, the steel company can be revitalized, those who have not been there before won't understand what the country is loosing due to our steel complex not functioning.

I Pray we get it right this time around.

The ajaokuta still steel plant should be blown up and mined with explosives to discourage further investments.

The "only getting it right" is to completely dispose of the plant asap.

If a fraction of the money sunk into Ajaokuta was used to set up an industrial park and subsidize investors, it would have been a far better way to go

No bogus agreements anywhere in my opinion. They just find excuses to share taxpayers monies amongst themselves and their cronies.

PDP govt sold nigerians assets dubiously through bogus agreements that incur financial losses to Nigeria. They did the same to Mambila power plant, killed NITEL completely among many other National assets.

They make promises you and I know that they will not keep. Besides the country is broke to the teeth. Where will they get the money to meet this agreement.

Handwork of Atiku Abubakar, I remember that shady deal of privatization in 2004, so many Ajaokuta steel workers lost their jobs including my mum, salary wasn’t paid for like two years after then
