Before I proceed, please parents in the house, have you received bills from your childrens schools yet?
Please I want to know because someone is trying to play a smart one on me.

Now to the matter.

Due to the delay in booking for supply of my text books, I didn't know the price has increase ( though I knew it will, just didn't know by how much). I later got wind of the new price from a marketer was already planning to inform my schools this week when one of them called and asked how much its going for now. I told her and she thanked me and proceeded to prepare their bill.

So, I just seized the opportunity to send a circular to the others so they can update their bills accordingly but one of them is telling me she can't buy at the new rate. I tried to make her understand I can't sell at a loss that she should try and make some adjustments on the bill but she said she can't meet the parents again and start telling them; which I think is a lie as I don't believe schools have started sending bills.
After going back and forth, she said maybe they won't use my book this time just because of 250 difference.

So, I'm now thinking whether to sell to her at the old rate or forget about it.
Again, have schools started giving bills? Please, what should I do. This woman likes money too much.

Many schools have sent bills and some parents have paid and are already paying school fees.

Ok. So, what do you suggest I do?. Should I sell to her at old price or forget about her school?

Thanks.

Did you do an environmental scan to ensure your cost isn't on a high side?

You know, supplying for schools is gold mine, especially when you'll sell at a large quantity. The school also wants to make profit patronizing you. Many sellers will give discounts to be major suppliers for schools, you know.

By the way, if you have businesses with the school for supply, why then call the parents to inform them of the new price? I feel it's the school's responsibility to do so since they are your direct clients.

However, if you feel you are selling what others are selling, then meet more schools.

You guys should come to a compromise, it's business - win some, lose some. Most schools are done sending bills to parent sef.

We sell at different rates and for now I'm only supplying the schools I take.

My children school gave their bills the day they vacated.

Below is the bill and take note that I removed the name of the school for personal/security reasons.

I will advice u to go and meet the person in charge of the books and if she is the owner of the school, try and let her see the need for this increment and if she does not budge, then take it as part of your loss and may be u can recover same from other sales.

Note: keeping your customer is key, never lose them
no matter what.

She doesn't even want to bend at all. She just wants to buy at the old rate. This particular woman likes money too much.

Schools have started giving bills.

The major issue is a lot of schools sell the books around double the price to parents, the woman might still be able to buy from you at the new price increase of 250 and still make good profit but possibly she has calculated how much she would get and it's not up to her target and she can't tell parents a new price ( I may be wrong though).

The producers and the distributors make the lowest profit on each book but since it's in volume the overall profit might be a bit decent. it's the school's that make the most profit, and they will tell you you can't buy outside.

My mum sold books to schools back then, I know their way, my friend also distributes to schools presently and I know how much those same books are sold to me as a parent.

Lots of school owners are greedy, They make the most money off books not the producers or the distributors, Not saying they shouldnt make profit but lots of them are ripping parents off that's why they dare not give lists of books these days the most annoying part is they would go for the ones that it's not to be sold in book shops only by the distributors, all are gimmicks to prevent parents from buying the books themselves.

We sha went to school and we know how our parents bought textbooks.

You can sell to her at old price, if you would still get a decent profit, if not forget her school this year, it's not like they do consider parents too, it's all about how much she will make.

Ok but not all of them have sent their bills. I'm very sure of that.

God bless you! You're not wrong in all you've said. In fact, you just described this woman perfectly.

Do you know, as at 5 years ago I was giving her for 900, this woman was selling at 1500 yet she'll complain like she's not making anything until one of the teachers who has a son in the school opened up to me that she sells to them at 1500 which I don't have a problem with but if I try to increase, she'll tender big big complains here and there. Hian!

If I sell at old rate, I might be making only 250 per copy from her end.
What do you think? Is 250 ok? And this one that they have banned okada so,,? Conveying will now be war. Abi na Uber I go come dey use transport books again. Heheeeee... E don happen.

It all depends on you. You can't run at a business and run at a loss.

If you can bear the loss to keep the relationship, it depends on you.

Just ensure you don't run at a huge loss, since she is a long time customer and also she can claim the fault isn't entirely hers

Sell to her just to retain her, but complain bitterly to her about how you are running massively at a gigantic loss, infact exaggerate your loss to her

Exactly what she told me that its not her fault.
Don't mind her. The woman is just vexing me.

I haven't replied her last message where she said she might not be buying. Will pretend I didn't see it until we meet this week (by God's grace) to see if she'll have a change of mind.

It depends, if you are selling a reasonable quantity and you will get your cash on time you can do it to keep her as a customer but whatever you do Do Not sell the books to her at a loss, you must have profit, even if it's small.

Now that your running cost has increased with the Okada ban, calculate your self well oo

Why it's even paining me is because of the way she pays the money bit by bit claiming its as parents respond in payment of school fees she'll pay. meanwhile, others pay me in bulk at the end of the month while paying my salary.

The last one she used the whole of the session to pay up. Not like she's not making the money.
