High handedness by Nigerians in power is disturbing . Why torture him ? Why bring in armed police officers into court when he is cross examining a witness? Why ask a reporter to get out ? Those are classic intimidation tactics . Shame on that CJ . He rightly asked it to be put in record that he protested the presence of armed police while the court was in session . Yet held in contempt . Funny enough if kassala burst now , these same power hungry people will be the first to start shaking like leaves . Case in point Rochas

This is the 200times i will be educating someone about this today.

I feel like screaming.

That is her court. A sitting judge is the owner of the court. The Lord of the court. Reason why they refer to them as "My Lord" ...
You are a clown. grin
M’Lord is a formal title of British origin.

She doesn’t OWN the court, that is a wrong terminology to use. The honorable judge presides over the court, it is not her father’s property.

The lawyer cited that he feels intimidated and formally appealed to the judge to send the armed men out which is a justifiable plea... The Judge should just oblige for the sake of equity,

The judge feels threatened by a PT journalist that's not even with a camera and got his phone seized but not intimidated by the AK47 wielding officers.. Isn't it ironic??

i am not a lawyer, i cant know that.

But common sense tells me that i can do exactly how i want in my house, as far as am not hurting anyone.

Which implies you cant tell a judge what to do in her court .

Is the judge above the law?
Is the court not subject to Nigerian law and constitution?

The law has guidelines do's and don't

Yes it has. And it is to be enforced according to the judge on sit. She owns the court. She is the Lord of the court in that instance according to law.

Attention seeking lawyer.

You disobeyed and talk rudely to a sitting Judge in her Court . Such effontery!

Is the firearm been use on anybody?? Why cant he continue with his client defense instead of creating unnecessary attention diversion of the court.

Or have we ever experience a firearm been fired in the court before?? I dont think so........

Such a fool!

So we have to wait till experience it.

Oga read what I replied to. I’m a legal practitioner, I know how a judge is addressed in session. What I’m telling the other guy is the origin of the title. M’Lord is of British origin, a judge is called so not because he owns a court but as a show of respect.

So the drama was unnneccessary, he wants cheap attention at the expense of the judge.

Very unnecessary.

And you all will always scream "sane country" "sane country" ... Is this how they behave over there to achieved a working judicial system.

Thank you. I really don't understand how anyone in their right minds would attempt to defend the judge.
Firstly, the case being heard is not a criminal case, it's a simple libel, there was absolutely no need to invite fully armed policemen into the court as there was no threat to life.
Secondly, can someone please give me a valid reason why the judge did not want the proceedings to be recorded? Once again, this is a libel case, not really something that needs to stay hidden except you're planning on making some absurd judgements.
Thirdly judge ekaette said inibehe pointed at her and banged on the table, thereby displaying unruly and rude behaviour.....I'm sure the court has a camera, let her release the footage so we see for ourselves because to any sensible person, she has no base whatsoever.

Good day sir, sorry to ask. Were you there wen it happened?? Lets not just believe in hearsay.

You know Nigerians quite well and stupid Ego and wrong way of approach. The way that guy talked and spoke to the judge, right in her court at the front of people. It's wrong.

I'm confused, were you present in the court?? How do you know the way inibehe spoke to the judge?

Yes sir. It is "her court" in a judicial settings..

A sitting judge 'owns the court' . i repeat, 'owns the court'. That is why they are reffer to as 'My Lord'
... Just as a landlord is the owner of the house.

She might decides to even have a full loads of armed guard present in 'her court' if she wishes or feel its necessary.

Okay calm down. That is how you people come and spew unfounded things as fact. Firstly, a landlord cannot throw out a tenant who is up to date on his payments, it is not done anywhere. Even if the tenant is being unreasonable, as long as he has paid, he has the right to continue living in the house.

Secondly, that is NOT why they're referred to as "my lord", read up first before positing these things to avoid future failings like this.

In such as case as this, she cannot just decide to have armed policemen in the court room, it is not news to even a child that the police is pretty much funded by government, so In such a case where the government is the applicant , the presence of these armed policemen can constitute grounds for intimidation of the witnesses.

Anyway, the judge has just succeeded in giving the case more publicity, let's see how this unfolds.

You cant use a scenario of a landlord and tenant to justify this. They are two different thing.

A defense or a prosecuting lawyer is like a visitor not a tenant to the Landlord(Judge).

I can decide to chase you as a visitor out of my house if i find you lacking in moral or feeling above necessary protocol. My house my rule.
'Her court' - her rule

You were the one that brought the landlord analogy in the first place, I merely continued along that line.

You can decide to chase me but you cannot chase me and lock me up at the same time.

Jesus christ. Do you people do Government or social studies in secondary school these days.

Christ.

The court is in the possession of the judge, it is 'hers' ... It is more hers , than even her personal house. She is the Lord of the court. For goodness sake. embarassed

and he she appointed by her possessions, when she retires she will carry it home
