Not true, there is no scarcity of teachers, rather scarcity of employment to teach.
Don't compare your illiterate state to other states.
Delusional, as always grin

. 1 The teachers are not well paid. Private school owners in Nigeria are wicked. They only use you and dump you. 2 Government school teachers work less and get more money while private school teachers work more and pay Peanuts as sakaries. 3 Money people want fast money. They believe there are other engagements that give them money apart from 8to 5 private school teaching. These include 419 , scamming and yahoo yahoo.4 Attitude to work has changed drastically especially when private schools owe workers fir three months and more. Some don't even pay during holidayYet they will say they run International Schools ,Special schools, and all other embellished names. Ironically many private school teacher are far better than those in the Government schools

One time we had a discourse on here about private schools not paying their teachers during the holidays, and these wicked slavers and ex - school owners came all out to justify it on the basis of low school fees.
O even during the lockdown, they (Jokerman and others) also told us on here, "Teachers should not expect to be paid when they're not at work* grin
On this very platform we told them about the danger of this highanded approach to staff welfare in the future, as teachers will one day see the light and leave for good..

I wonder who's laughing now.

They are not well paid

That's why

Imagine someone teaching five six seven subjects teaching from 8:00 to 5:00pm everyday being paid N15,000 at the end of the month!

That's why most guys don't do the job

And another issue is JAMB stigmatisation

During score ranking or cut off mark alloting, JAMB will peg let's say 150 for universities, let's say 140 for Polytechnic and monotechnics and let's say 120 for colleges of education.

The bright students will be tapped off to universities and Polytechnics

It is this remaining olo.dos that JAMB will now carry head long to colleges of education to be teaching our children.
Ministry of education needs to do something about this oh WALAHI, that is one of the problems we are facing in the education sector.
Buhari said he will be paying N75,000, to teachers , we pray he implements it

It is well

. Scarcity of teachers is biting hard now in Nigerian private schools. As implied in your comment, the proprietors have known the difference between Khaki and leather now

The main factor is poor salary, then followed by much students and many classes to attend.

Anyway when the Salary is meaningful a lot of people would've go for it

If you were on the receiving end of the genocide, you too will be filled with hate for the monarch for the role they played. I will unapologetically still not wish her to rest well as well as every other players in the genocide, the souls of millions wasted will keep haunting them in the world beyond

Poor pay coupled with little or no respect is the reason

Nobody respects a teacher in Nigeria n we all saw a thread that hit front page as regards how a meagre 30k salary was reduced to 15k just imagine,30k wey just b 1k per day ooo n na out of d 1k him go chop, transport himself, buy recharge cards,do sub n all other daily needs so it’s highly discouraging

Let me address this issue here

It’s obvious many igbos raised their children in very poor ways, they are always mocking people n hating people even in death

Check social media platforms n see how igbos are mocking queen elizabeth as if they will live forever

It’s highly annoying how a tribe will hate his countrymen n it didn’t even stop at that they even export hate abroad

Like seriously they really don’t know they really need to work on themselves

Look at d poster before me

It’s annoying that all their lives revolve around hate

COVID 19 was an eye opener. No salary was paid upon the fact that it was poor salary. Some teachers the found that they can actually do better than class room teaching. Most of them went into tech. And now that inflation has grown wide, the ones remaining leave without notices for better future.
That's my submission. I am into tech now. And speaking with experience.
can u teach me tech

If u ask naija students of nowadays who want to be a teacher,no response,it is because they are not valued in this region of the globe,a meagre paid teaching job in naija is not something to take on as a job in nigeria,we have teachers who are financially stabilized even within their first 5 years of teaching, when you are not valued doing sth, value yourself by stop doing sth you are not valued for.
However in countries such as Finland and South Korea where teachers are highly respected and cautiously chosen, teaching is seen as an admirable career. What can we do in Africa to make teaching inspiring and impactful?

It starts from the government, whois the government?we are the government but those at the helm of affairs are the one to make our contributions as a nation works,b4 a particular change in a sector of a nation takes effect they are other factors in other sectors that determines whether the change will take effect or not,if teachers are reoriented on the nature of the job in nation building, well paid with bonuses, health hazards insurance, using modern education materials, teachers behaviour on students[emotional truama some students experience],good and improved teacher-student relationships. employing based on merits, recognition of teachers through awards, seminars, teachers and students being able to compete with their peers globally, you can't train a student in a university to be a half baked graduate and gives what he doesn't has, also nigerian pub unis[sex for mark, sorting issues, delibrate failing]

Kipaji,a university lecturer telling u,A is for God,B is for him/her,C is for the brilliant student, this apply to 80% of ng pub unis,no matter how we try to improve this things with ourself[the masses] if the government don't play their part of the game well, nothing will be achieved. But if those at the government helm affairs play their part and we the masses support them, great things will be achieved.Imagine FG taking ASUU to court to stop strike, some saying ASUU are fighting for their pockets, while others say Fg is not meeting their demands, ave u ever heard where nigeria senators strike b4.a lot of things is wrong with this country named Nigeria by one lady at the age of 26 or so.only God can mend nigeria

Thanks for the reply. The issue is multidimensional indeed. I did not quite understand everything since I'm not Nigerian but I get the gist of the problem since we are all in central Africa.
I'm from Cameroon and the anglophone crisis/war that we have in the Northwest and Southwest region started with rightful revendications of anglophone teachers (and other people too).
