Try opening the windows regularly even in winter. You don’t need a humidify at the moment. When the dampness dries up. Get a little can of anti-damp pant and go over the surface… Use this indoors 1 Share

Chreze: @ the bolded - where the damp is your only issue with the house and is possibly attributable to your not opening windows, I would use the anti-damp paint someone suggested and start airing out your house regularly (daily) and see how things progress. Getting housing these days in Glasgow or Edinburgh is hellish. 1 Like |

mizGene: Those 5 years rules for adult not children ... once both parents get settled status, you can apply and the child or children get settled status as well even if the child never had visa but child must be under 18 if never had visa I know one of two people that had kids in UK and to save cost never put their child on a visa until after ILR 2 Likes |

Ralphlauren: Equally bad in Manchester, unfortunately. Yesterday's paper (https://www.theguardian.com/education/2022/sep/10/devastated-uk-students-forced-to-live-in-neighbouring-cities-in-university-accommodation-crisis) talked of Manchester University students being sent to Liverpool (its 45 mins away by train). The problem is that this short-term let thing is here to stay. I heard Sturgeon abi the Edinburgh Council's taking some useful measures in Edinburgh regarding restricting it, but more needs to be done. To be honest, the recent rent-freezing measure doesnt help in terms of easing the housing shortage. |

wallg123: Thanks wallg123 for this. I will try this. Thanks @TheGuyFromHR. A little twist, so they have been delivering mails to the apartment for the previous occupant. We try to return the mails and it comes back to our house. On Thursday they delivered Hermes clothes and I knew they were gonna come pick it up. Today they came for it and I asked them question about the house and they said no damp or mold issue, but that they installed the heater by the staircase recently because it gets cold when you just walk inside the house. I will try this options and hope it is solved. I have done some crazy vacuum today. On Wednesday when oga goes to nursery we will vacuum again and wash the carpet. And hopefully it gets cleared. Also sent a message the LL to come around during lunch break tomorrow so I can show him. He said 3pm. Will also show him and see how it goes. Thanks for the inputs. I really do appreciate. |

Ralphlauren: Hi bro, Is it possible to land a big 4 job in UK without any prior experience with big 4 in Nigeria? i am asking because i had a friend who got an invite for advisory services with KPMG but skeptical about his chances owing to the aforementioned reason. peacenaija: Never say never..... anything is possible When there is a job opening they would invite for interview based on Cv received , what if all other applicants are not from big 4, does it mean they would now leave that post open... then that their loss in head count so I believe it also based on what available .... If the desirable is not available the available becomes the desirable |

peacenaija:If he works with a smaller firm(big 10), he stands a chance. I know a guy from PKF Kenya that got a manager role in a big4, another from an indigenous firm in South Africa got an assistant manager role. Just have the relevant experience, package your CV well and be prepared to defend your CV during the interview stages. |
