I feel i need to clear some misconceptions, so i'll talk frm personal experience.
@CASTOS- the people that invented Baby sucker/pacifier, dnt u tink dt if it was BAD dy would make it and wasnt it made for a reason. @VIVIEN PADDY, no offence.
In my case, i started givin my Son pacifier/baby sucker whn i noticed dt his navel has healed properly, it was not to replace Food as he will pop it out of his mouth when he is feelin hungry and he is 6months now
BABY FRIENDLY- that Nurse that wuld tell you to do BF is secretly givin her pikin/child a BOWLFUL of OGI/PAP in the bedroom and will come out with her breast stuck in the childs mouth and gleefully announce to everyone ' i am doin Baby friendly'....... Long hisssss
my mother gave birth to five(5) of us and among us is a Lecturer wit a Federal university, pharmacist,Lawyer, Business administrator and an Engineer, she didnt do Baby friendly for any of us, the important ting is IMMUNISATIONS for ur baby
my 2 Elder sis did no BF for thier children and they are healthy and strong, 1 is 5years and 2 is 3years
in my case, i didnt do Baby friendly for my child, i started giving him SMA Formula within 2weeks of Birth, he is 6months now and the stamina and strenght he has, he wants to crawl by force, hold things by force e.t.c
I am not saying Baby friendly is not good o, i just hate the way people go on and on about it, if u can do it fine but if u cant dont let ppl box u into a corner and suffer urself for nothn, MOST ppl tellin u to do Baby Friendly are bunch of HIPOCRATES
BOTTLE FEEDING- @ TJSKII- no offence but i beg to differ as there is nothin wrong with bottle feeding, i bought PHILLIPS AVENT STERILISER UNIT(costs btw 12 to 18k) and i personally wash my childs bottles, teats, caps, baby sucker/pacifier and sterilise them in that unit, i recently introduced him to Frisogold wheat and Rice and i am still using feeding bottle to save time cos my job is a bit demandin/ house chores.
I hate when people blab bout danger in bottle feedin, my advice dont use it if u cannot sacrifice time and effort to wash ur babys bottles, if u dont have sterilising unit simply wash the bottle very well and boil in water for 5minutes

Chaytai. I. Started weaning my kids at 4 months. Started with soft boiled apples peeled and mashed and rice cereal. If you can afford it wait till 6mos.

Lots of advice have been given here already. Try and read through.

There is no law that states that you must exclusively nurse your baby. The decision to do it should be made by you not anyone else. The only thing i would suggest is that you do a little bit of research on the two (or ask your Doctor).
Personally i did exclusive for my baby and i have no regrets and will do same for his siblings when they are born. If i am working, i will express the milk for my baby.
Lady, don't let anyone pressure you into something you don't want to do. If you want to introduce baby formula or dawa or pap to your baby, by all means do so but if you want to exclusively feed your baby on your milk alone, please ride on.

If you decide to continue with brea.st milk for your baby and you also work, the only option will be to express your brea.st milk into clean and sterilized feeding bottles and who ever will feed the baby must do so under hygienic conditions. For more informations on how to preserve brea.st milk, google is there for you.

By the way, exclusive brea.st feeding is new. Our mothers didn't do such for us neither did their own mothers and yet amongst them are the greatest and most intelligent mind.

@chytai, please do not give your baby adult milk. Am talking about cowbell, dano, peak and the rest. Use infant formulas such as Nan or SMA or any other to mix his pap/dawa/cereal/pudding. You can start adding peak or dano or any one of your choice to his pap when he is over 1year. ## some of the makers even write it on their milk containers##.

@Ifyemma, if you are in Nigeria, the common ones are Friso gold cereals (available in rice and wheat variants), Cerelac (corn and wheat), and Nutrend. Petsonally, I love Friso gold rice for its creamy consistency and taste cos I find the wheat variant too sugary and all my baby does is throw it up.
It's best to start introducing solids with simple cereals like rice and enriched pap b4 moving to wheat.

@Ifyemma, why don‘t you try and make your baby‘s food by yourself? Apart from the fact that it saves you lots of money, you know what your baby is eating and its quite fun. All you haver to do is blend to ensure it creamy and free of lumps. If you are interested in making your baby‘s food, there is a thread in food section on varieties of baby foods and how to make them. I think the topic is “cerelac versus nutrend“. Am typing with a phone so i cannot paste the link here.

I don't understand your question. How does getting a cold and being scared have a causal relationship?

I was told that, what makes babies get scared easily could trace to the amount of cold in their body and its called (giri) in yoruba

thank God I decided to read this thread. Get hygenically prepared moringa powder and administer to her. And let her put the powder into pap, if she takes pap, and/or any other prepared food. One tablespoon per meal for a miraculous result. If you can't lay hands on moringa, call Mr. Solomon on +2348065387819. My wife, after delivery, the bosom milk flowed well until at some point it appeared to be drying. As soon as she took the powder just once, come and volume! If he is on exclusive, then no need for water. If he has started taking bottled milk, please give him water so that he does not have constipation.

I want to do a gender scan and i noticed the ultrasound technician at my hospital doesnt really interact that much, thats why i dont want to do it there. please your recommendations are welcome.

@Ayobarmy,ur baby is lovely. Abeg take care of him well well o nd give him a peck 4 me. As 4 tongue cleaning u can dissolve a little alum in clean small bottle water or u buy glycerine pure. Just put a little on d wool nd use it 2 clean his tongue. Dere might b oda ones too but dis is wat I use.

just be patient, your hubby is the landlord, your lo is just leasing you i'm on exclusive too and i tell you, its better for brain development, it helps build your baby's immune system,to list a few of the advantages, try for at least six months, God bless our little ones

to clean white particles, i use glycyril and warm water on cotton bud, he's grown sooo big! no wonder we don's see you on there any more

Oh dear! My boy strains and stretches before gasing too oh. It breaks my heart to see him go through it oh.. I've tried gripe water, infacol, nospamin. They dnt seem to help much. He shld outgrow it by 3mnths sha.

@ Ayorbami, I think I know what you are talking about. Its normarl for some babies to get shocked out of their sleep it happens especcialy if baby sleeps on her back.
Ans it causes them to wake up too soon. Try swadling your baby with cotton cloth like the pic below. It keeps her from sudden jerks and makes her feel warm ,d restricted like in the womb. Not all babies like to be tied down while awake, best bet is to swadle just as she wants to sleep.
For water, baby of 3mos does not need too much water maybe like 30 to 60 mil per day depending on the season. To know if baby is dehydrated, glide your finger through the soft spot on her head. If the spot is hollow and sunken then baby is dehydrated. A well hydrated baby will have his soft spot high as the other hard bones of the skull around it.
Water cannot fatten a baby. Baby needs his food every 3hrs until around 3 mos. Don't allow a new born to sleep for long strerches without her food. Wake her up every 3hrs and feed even at night untill she is 3mos old at least.it helps her grow.

@ Ayobami I learnt those white particles in the baby's moth are trush. They are there because the baby' imune system is weak for now. They are normal in babies but not so in adults that's why its common with AIDS patients. Anyway, there are creams that could be prescribed by your doctor to be rubbed on baby4 tongue and around his mouth to help fight it.
A baby that is not having breast milk may not poo for two days but if it goes beyound 3 go see your pediatrician. For me I used a small eyedrop bottle (see pic below) fill with lukewarm boiled water and pump in baby's bum don't pump air in while doing it don't put more than 3 table spoons of water I think that bottle contains like 3 tablespoons of water max.Not everyone welcomes this idea but it worked for me and my babies.
Babies can get Eczema my son did when he was 2mos old. There are medications your doctor can give you.
For diaper rash, pls make sure baby's bum is dry before placing diaper. If possible clean, pat dry with towel or tiSsue or even airdry if weather allows and then rub ori(shea butter)pls buy shea butter that is clean if you want to use for babay like the packed one I use at home pic also below.
