I am going to get a grower feed for the noilers and broilers to reduce their cost of production since December is still far.
I discovered the turkeys have been pecking the stunted broiler I left with them,I had to remove it and place it with the noilers and broilers. It doesn't look like it is going to survive another day

The black poo persists, I am not willing to take any risk. I have placed them on floxinor antibiotics for 4 days. The noilers and broilers have started flying out of their cage to graze for feed. I bought them half bag of grower feed.
The stunted one was dead I went to check them in the morning.

I did an head count of the birds and discovered one noilers was missing and I had one extra turkey. The agents made a mistake by mixing them up.
I will get a feeder for the noilers and broilers tomorrow

pls how much did you buy the floxinor antibiotic, I heard that it is a strong antibiotic.

There have been challenges along the way, they ran out of feed for two days. Their weight has not been encouraging they range between 1-1.3 kg. This has been due to two reason
1) low quality feed
2) lighting.

The two issues have been resolved, I got them a standard turkey feed and a solar powered system. So, I have decided to move them to my uncle's place, I will try to always check on them.

I lost three of the broilers I left to graze for food. I moved them back into the Cage to treat them after i saw some red poo which means they are down with red poo.
The turkeys are fine except one that got stuck in between the coach of block I used as partition,it now has a paralyzed leg which doesn't look good.

They will be six weeks tomorrow.

You tried but still need to learn some stuffs. Let me share some of my guidelines to my small scale clients.

Your mortality, stress and expenses are way too much for only 32 birds. If you had follow some specific steps, you are not suppose to lose a single bird out of the 32.

Next time, for 50 birds or below, just get #1800 Amoxycol, # 600 vitamin, centre dixcos. Amocycol and vitamin for 5 days, center dixcos at day 6 and 7, and by day 8 and 10, give them lasota and Gomboro respectively( that should be 1400 combine). Give them 2nd lasota and gomboro at day 21 and 24. Repeat Amocycol and centre dixcos after this.

For 32 birds brooding, you don't need chacoal at all, just find machine carton, let them play and feed in it during the day and put them back in their hatchery carton in the evening for 5 days. At day 6, allow them to sleep in that matching carton and put small solar lamp there( you must cover it at night with small opening. After day 10, you can transfer them to their cage or new house. You can use the same matching carton for years for the same purpose.

Besides, in order to cut cost and still achieve the same result, you don't need special feed for turkey, just give them normal professional new hope feed or breedwell like the rest. Since you have just 12 turkey, the least available 50 doses of fowl pox vaccine might ne too strong for them, just get "pox cure" and administer it at 2nd week, 4th week, 8 weeks and 12 weeks respectively. You cant finish 1 sachet of #700 all through for them all.

Boss, I thank you for your input sir. Truly, most of the cost are avoidable. The facility I use is not mine, most of the cost have been on transport and logistics. The initial plan was to partner with my ex-colleague to raise broilers for December sale because of some constraint we couldn't go on, so I decided to raise foreign turkey for Christmas. I would say my decision was spontaneous and impulsive. Going forward sir, I would appreciate your comments and advice on how to raise them and cut cost without compromising on the necessary things.

I finally moved the turkeys and noilers to my uncle's place,the facility I was using before was temporary. Moving the turkeys was very stressful for me because of the bad road. Commercial Vehicles have completely avoided the route I was to follow,so I had to take a bike to the major junction. I would have love to use a bike for the long journey, unfortunately, the transport cage was too bulky to carry on bike. I had to wait for two hours before I was able to get a cab to convey me and the birds. I had to immediately give them multivitamin to help them cope with the stress. I pray they meet up for Christmas sales

Went to check the turkeys on Sunday, they clocked 6 weeks. When I checked their weight they range between 1.8 -2.2 I don't know how to react. Experienced foreign turkeys farmers, can you help me rate their growth rate.

So I took 5 of my local turkeys along. I moved the noilers out of the foreign turkeys pen, I moved them together with the adult local turkeys. Immediately one of the males started attacking the noilers.
I just got a call from my uncle about the turkeys being aggressive towards the noilers, I might need to move the noilers to my parents house.

My Lord! Foreign turkeys are voracious eaters. 10 turkeys of 6 weeks are about to finish 2 bags/50 kg of feed under 3 weeks. Dear Lord I am getting scared.

So I bought them piperazine dewormer to deworm them.

Just got a call from my uncle that the turkeys have run out of feed. I am concerned about how 10 turkey can finish 58 kg of feed in the space of 20 days (5-8 weeks). Tomorrow I will get them another 50kg bag of terratiga turkey grower feed. E no easy

Got them the grower feed today, I saw the turkeys today and I was impressed by their height. Got here very late in the night. I will check their weight tomorrow morning. Two of the noilers died without me being informed. I am left with 6 noilers.

When I got there in the night,I was disappointed at how dirty their drinker was, biosecurity was in existent.

Solar subscription will expire on November 1. Livestock is capital intensive!!!!
