PresidObi:if Onitsha alone has a population of 7million, how much population would the entire Anambra State have? I've been around Anambra State( Onitsha precisely) as far back as 1989, so, I know what I'm talking about. 4 Likes |

But Nigeria's fake data will even tell you that many cities are more built up and more populated than Onitsha. The most notorious fake statistics agency is that their NBS. Little wonder nothing works in Nigeria. SMH! 20 Likes 2 Shares |

DamnnNiggarr: Stop saying fallacies especially when you don't understand it. Demographia only calculates built up areas! Even Lagos was not the entire state, places like Ikorodu, Epe etc was not added! Likewise in Onitsha, only the city and at most Obosi and Oba were added. Other places like Nnewi, Awka, Ekwulobia etc can't be included because they're not joined in a built up continuous manner. Even when you look at the aerial views of Onitsha, you will observe the nature of its built up status. Also notice that Aba was included. Why Onitsha is far above Kano and more than double of Ibadan is because most of these cities are filled with shanties. 17 Likes |

Goodday90:No! You got it wrong. By 1989, that's 3years to the creation of this present day Anambra with capital located in Awka, I meant to say that I've been there long enough, and can comfortably give detailed account of Anambra State population growth without batting an eyelid. |
Re: 2022 Data On Largest Built-up Urban Areas ( Lagos & Onitsha Tops Again) by Arysexy(m): 8:27am On Sep 15, 2022 |
For those questioning Onitsha figure, this below was Onitsha population in 1918. Onitsha has continued to grow in population because of the existence of the largest market in West Africa. Onitsha has expanded and swallowed neighbouring towns like Obosi, Nkwelle ezunaka etc Onitsha may be small in land mass but contains more ppl than most cities due to the number of high rise building taking more residence per unit area. In 1918, Onitsha was more populated than Lagos. Fact! Why then would you doubt the figure of 7m for Onitsha? If proper census devoid of Massob or IPOB interference is conducted today, you will marvel at Anambra population. A state with 3 major cities of Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi 8 Likes 1 Share
