Hello, A friend got ppr today, her seat for fall got cancelled and she applied for a January program(no decision yet) Now she wants to apply for her husband and kids so that they can go together in January (meanwhile, her SOP stated that she’ll be going alone) but because there’s still time she’s considering applying for the whole family. Please what does she need to do to package the application? Thanks in anticipation |

Has anyone experienced travel to Canada with a valid British passport but an expired Nigerian passport? I could not renew my passport in time for my trip due to NIN issues. It is either I travel or cancel the whole thing. |

weaseloo: Let me use my common sense(I stand to be corrected)....From your statement, we can deduce you are both British and Nigerian, why not use your British passport and travel, I doubt if there is a law that forbids you from not using your British passport, if the Nigerian passport is expired...I suggest you continue with your travel plans 4 Likes |

weaseloo: Which passport was your visa issued with? I reckon if you are a PR already, you already have your PR card, so no issues here. However, if you aren’t a PR and your visa is not issued on the British passport—— Na to Dey your Dey. I don’t know if Canada has any special arrangements for UK passport holders, you probably need to find that out. |

Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by weaseloo: 3:40pm On Sep 15, 2022 |
maziude: Doesn’t the travel certificate apply to someone who is entering Nigeria? With respect to entering Nigeria, I understand that that is not a problem - we can enter with an expired passport. |

Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by maziude: 5:15pm On Sep 15, 2022 |
weaseloo: Yes you can but you need a valid travel document otherwise some airline will not board you. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by aestake: 6:37pm On Sep 15, 2022 |
weaseloo:If you get a willing airliner, yep. Then sort out your NIN and Nigerian passport in Naija. Someone can mail the renewed passport to you when it's ready. |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by weaseloo: 8:29pm On Sep 15, 2022 |
maziude: No, I don't have Canadian PR. But GBR passport holders do not require a visa to enter Canada and the US. I am returning to Naija though, this is just to visit family. |

There are some schools that offer pretty much emergency admission. Especially colleges. I would suggest she looks into that. She should also use whatever local/provincial services exist that will help/prepare her to choose a good subject, set her up with PR pathways, etc. Dame24: |

Also, please note that study permits are issued at the port of entry. Your admission letter should be enough to pass through (please ask around about this). However, if the office somehow finds out that the admission was cancelled, they won't issue the study permit and will likely cancel the visa as well, while asking you to use your return ticket to return.
