November1857: That's the right thing. Nigerians will be forming James Bond with Police and other sisters agency but not with Army or Armed Robbers. Also, it is when Armed Robbers begin to disturb them, that's when they would always realize that Police are necessary for any neighborhood. MODIFIED: Well, I never said it's lawful for policemen to slap civilians, and I don't think that's what the OP said. For clarification, what I mean is that Nigerians should stop looking at uniform personnel as their enemies. Not all of them are crooks, and not in every situations, do they go about looking for who to exploit. Besides, Nigerians, especially, the struggling ones tend to see people above them as their enemies. They have disdain for all the Uniform personnel, Bankers, Politicians, Big Businessmen, "Nepa" staff, or just any other legitimate successful people that are not suffering like them. This is wrong! 54 Likes 8 Shares |

No sense in this talk In a Country where poorly trained and criminally-minded and even fake police officers abound, the right to self-defense cannot be taken away. They should be more concerned about the increasing number of 'officers' flouting orders and instructions from the IG by the minute, checking phones, extorting commuters and setting up illegal checkpoints. He's here telling citizens to be sitting ducks in the hands of criminal elements in the force. Which sane policeman goes about slapping people? It's even the police who should exhibit high level of training and restraint in the face of provocation. 146 Likes 11 Shares |

It should go either ways. Police officers should have no right to assault someone with slaps. As a grown adult, it takes a special kind of endurance not to reciprocate any slap given to you 45 Likes 2 Shares |

True, you should not respond because if people start fight police every time then they may shoot them instead. A very sane society must have respect for their police otherwise what you get would be anarchy. Now if the policeman is psychotic and is not intending to stop the slaps then it is reasonable to do what you can to protect yourself and even then fighting back should be the last resort. Getting away from the police office should be your first option. 1 Like 1 Share |

Filing a complaint to the same police? So that you will pay for opening a case file? And pay for the “investigations” which they would do about the matter.. And after all these extortions from you, nothing would still be done? .. FEAR POLICE... .. If you cannot get the officer's name and number in order to sue both him and the NPF to court,,, or if you don't have people who recorded you guys on video camera while he was abusing you physically, so that you can publish the video on social media and hope for it to go viral, just forget it.. .. Admittedly, having anything to do physically with a policemen on uniform is totally wrong. So, as much as possible, always stay a safe distance from uniform police officers. 15 Likes 2 Shares

Owopariola001:We shall remain a shithole because I assure you that such police man will not be punished in any serious way, he will be "rebuked" and released to do more. There should be a special independent mechanism to try police offenders who molest civilians, else slapping will be the trigger for the next end sars 12 Likes |

When a policeman slaps an innocent civilian can that be classified as assualt? Will the officer be prosecuted? If not then Mr. PRO has not right to say this in a country of criminally minded & poorly trained police officers with a very low degree of restraint in the face of provocation. 13 Likes |
