I’m just curious to know this. Has anyone ever had a visit by this TV license people despite these their numerous threats? And what was it like, if any? |

Ayowolebami: 2 family friends mentioned same to me when they moved to Manchester. At 3, their kids were allowed full 30hours free. She sent them emails back and forth showing BRP and all, they insisted theirs is 30hrs. I will keep all email correspondence for evidence sake! |

LagosismyHome: Ok who isn't correct at this point? School says their fund isn't public funds, Manchester city council says they do not contribute to the school funds outside the universal 15hrs per week. UK govt website still redirects to city council to be able to make arrangements to access more than 15hrs and same city council says the subsidy is not from the government's pocket and if school says the extra 15hrs is free for all, then it is. Unless I'm expected to contact UK government website directly to ask questions and still be redirected to my city council. We have not been asked for NI or anything related to our immigration status or document so far and the school has said they do not set up any out of pocket payment structure for parents as the additional 15hrs is subsidized by the school. |

tushqueen: Exactly why I had to send mails to both the school and Manchester city council. Luckily I met an older lady at the admin's office the day I visited the school after my mail and she said it was the normal practice for most schools under Manchester city council. She told me she's worked in oldam and it was 15hrs only. Even my friend who's daughter is a citizen and earns way above those who can access that extra 15hrs benefit could not understand my worry and the 15hrs for nursery because most schools around them practice full time and it's free. No one has asked her either for out of pocket payment and she and her hubby earn way above the income of people who can access the benefit. |

Ayowolebami: I went to check Manchester Council website, The website even highlights you will apply to HRMC at some stage and yes it will link it to your NI .... possible the school is behind in paper work All the best , I trust it will all work out https://www.manchester.gov.uk/info/200016/childcare_and_nurseries/7809/free_childcare_30_hours_if_your_child_is_three_or_four To get the extra 15 hours you must apply for an eligibility code.It can take up to 15 days from the date you apply for HMRC to issue a code. |

Ayowolebami: The beauty of this story you always hear the begining but sometime miss the ending or the middle part .... My sisterinlaw son started the 30 hours even though her husband was earning over 100k making them not eligible. They are British now living in Sheffield... few months down the line they heard from HRMC which told them based on their earning they are only allowed the 15hours so she had to stop immediately. However depending on when you heard her story . At the beginning she would have told you she was able to claim because the school allowed it, months later she would have told you a different story of how she had to stop. In another version it could have been how the 15hours became a problem, refund or even visa problem. ..... 2 Likes |

Ayowolebami: I got same information you got. The council said I don’t need to pay any additional costs. “ XXXX School offer full time funded nursery placements therefore you will not be required to pay any additional costs.” The seniors in the house might be able to clarify what it means. Maybe our children should not be going to these schools at all because they only offer full time funded nursery? |

Exactly my thoughts. It is very unlikey that primary schools will be offering fully funded nursery places? They will likely claim back the money from HMRC. A lot of the people working with councils and schools don't know the rules. Follow their advice at your own peril. LagosismyHome: 2 Likes |

Hello everyone. Please I need clarity on something. I was recently auto-enrolled into a pension by the agency I work with. I received a letter saying that I will contribute, my employer will contribute and the government will contribute/ give me 20% tax relief. Please and Please, does this count as public funds? Because it's not by force to do pension. I wrote to them seeking clarity on the matter but they asked me to seek independent views on what counts as public funds for my right to work etc. I will be grateful for any comprehensive explanation please, so I know what I should do next.

semmyk: Thank you, By term time I mean the period of time during my visa period when I’m actively participating in school activities (classes, projects, exams). I’m my case, my course started 4th January 2022 and will end 6th January 2023, but my visa won’t expire till 6th May 2023. So from 6th January- 6th May 2023 it is considered that I am not on term time and I can work full time |

AlphaUno: Many years ago i was moving in to a new place with a friend, they visited just as we are moving things including TV and asked if we have TV licence we said no that we don't watch live tv them left, few months late we received the usual letter and my friend panicked and wanted us to pay(He was an illegal immigrants but i don't know at that time) , i knew very little about tv licence issue then as i was about 6months old student. We started paying £10 a month even as i hardly watch tv let a lone live one because i work night and study day. Then i tuned in to a late night talkSports radio program one night and their was an hour long discussion on tv licence, i got educated and the rest is history. 1 Like |
