Lanrelagboi: This IGI they keep bandying up and down is both truth and fallacy. Yes LASG has been more aggressive with collection. But a lot of it also comes from the devaluation of the Naira and is due to no creative work by the LASG. If the LASG 10years ago earned 5% WHT on a $1mln transaction of an International Oil Company (IOC) based in Lagos when e-rate was $/200, that would be N10mln. Today at $/700 that would be N35mln. 350% increase by doing nothing!!! 2 Likes 2 Shares |

That's why those refuges keep trooping in and claim to be Even a single lebanese or hausa who owns a business whose value is more than the whole okrika they sell in all Lagos markets doesn't boast, they just do their biz quietly and return home. But some clowns have given up on their home and they're looking for a new colony. 7 Likes 1 Share |

COMPAQ: You truly have a computer COMPAQ brain that is working excellently. Sane Lagosians will wonder why the vuvuzela noise about IGR, FDI, GDP, loans etc have not impacted governance like education for every child, mass transit etc. Things that Jakande, Mobolaji Johnson, Awolowo and even Marwa did without propaganda and with shinkinni money. Echoban: I made reply to the guy comment. The comments on this thread is already bashing our tribe. So, I'm saying, make them calm down, every country has such city and people tend to migrate there more. They are already bashing one tribe for migrating to Lagos. Do u get it now? Because u guys on Nairaland enjoy fighting. I don't have energy. |

valentineuwakwe: But you have the sea in the South south, PH, calabar etc, why have you not done something with it - I will educate you, Lagos from the onset was open-handed, friendly and accommodating, while in your South, even prior and after independent you are full of hate, you don't give equal opportunities to people of other tribes, that is not so surprising regarding there are people you regard as OSu (slave/ non-worthy), how much more people of other tribes. There was also the killing of twins, while working for Un in the 80s, my dad escaped many times lynching, that was how dark and backward many tribes in the East are. I was in Bayelsa in 1999 with friends that we lived as brothers in Lagos, it was a burial rite for their grandma. I was amazed to learn that, I could not move freely, I could not bathe in their stream like them etc. Lagos placed priority on equal rights, sells land to non-indigenes, and allow businesses to thrive. if your grandfathers had done that, Calabar would remain the center of attraction till Abuja was decided... Lagos is not strategically placed, Lagos only gave what others could not give. Lagos is small and at the extreme, and more than half of it is covered by water, Lagos is also below sea level. But you know the truth, but the hate for Lagos will make you convince yourself that you have a form of defense as to why Lagos is what it is. I am Lagosian, lived most of my life in Lagos, and been around many other states before i decided to live in Naija, however, no other places were accommodating as such I could not live in those places, or find opportunities due to hostilities. While I was at Alausa, we had many non-indigenes in the parastatals, that is what Lagos is built to....Out of the FIR, Lagos do not get a %age proportionate of its contributed quota as others who offers less get....Lagos mostly depends on its IGR, hence why it has been developed from 600m to 45b between 1999 - 2022, the resultant effect is more companies will come in, more investment, and more opportunities for people around the country, even with the small land mass - hence infrastructural deficit will be imminent always unless there is a vision of such which the state is trying to expand and introduce other means of transportation. More people means more waste generation, as such we need effective waste management - 3Rs in the sustainability of the 5S in lean implementation. Until these other states open up for equity in all ramifications, the states would still be behind Lagos. I for one, want a country where everyone can move freely, live freely, walk freely, without fear of non-inclusivity. May God take us there, i cannot share my personal experiences in other places, it's like going to other country as a Nigerian to seek job. 4 Likes 1 Share |
