Is it the court who will pay ASUU members the outstanding 7 months salary? I'm sure this is a judgement passed by the industrial court which I know will be appealed by ASUU..Does a government who does not obey court order expect ASUU to obey the same court order? Time shall tell!

At least there is an array of light at the end of the tunnel for the traumatized students at home for now.
This will to an extent boost their morale for now.

Let's hope that both parties will obey the order first and continue to argue their cases in court.

Honestly, it is now obvious that some of you political activists are the reason why the ASUU doesn't listen to the voice of reason at certain points.

if ASUU fails to call off the strike, form 48 will be filled for them by registrar in the court. contempt of court order attracts fines and jail terms for ASUU leadership:

government can choose not to obey court order because they’re the government. sad situation of Nigeria.

ASUU have been handicapped. they have no choice but to resume.

You see why one must be flexible with negotiations?

If they had taken fgs offer ....it would have been better than this

If courts can decide things like this, then it is unfortunate

We all knew it would come to this.

Now, ASUU will have no other choice than to resume or be found guilty of disobeying court order.

At the end of the day, ASUU will visit their anger on the students.

And how many order has the government obeyed in the past?

The decision before the NIC today was simple. Would the court allow itself to be used as an instrument of futility for the struggle so far? & only postpone for students, even longer strikes or would they check the FG as they are bound to & facilitate an end to incessant strikes?

It allowed itself to be used for the former.
ASUU is compelled to call off the strike. Disgruntled and disoriented academic staff are forced back to work pending the determination of the suit which the FG is willing to drag on till the end of its administration.

The reality is FG intended to use the court as an instrument to frustrate ASUU’s ambition and if the court had a bit of an hint of discernment; they’d know than to ask Academic staff to resume however disoriented they, are back into the situations they sought an end.

Yh, a futile strike. Students time wasted.

And not very far from now, another strike will begin anew. Might be longer than this 6 month. FG has no incentive then to address issue in so far NIC has offered itself as an instrument to nullify such strike actions and so the universities will continue to deteriorate, unmotivated staffs will be the universities lots, but then now and then we would rejoice at the convocation of our political elites children in universities abroad.

Can ASUU make an appeal?

Please explain

the final verdict on the case between ASUU and FG is yet to be given. this can take months and even years if it gets to supreme court.

the final verdict of this industrial court will be held on their next sitting, it is the result of this final verdict that can be appealed, and not the order to call off strike.

the order is to call off strike while final verdict is being deliberated at the court. they can appeal that final verdict, but the court forbids them from appealing this instruction to call off while case continues at court,

the judge prayed it will be wicked to keep students at home till the end of the court case considering court cases take months and years to deliver a judgement. they can appeal that final judgement, not this instruction to call off strike while final verdict is awaited.

That said, Channels reported this news over 1hr ago. Users have posted the news immediately on this platform too. Yet it won’t make FP until the news is stale.

How will it get to FP when the owner of the platform prefers interacting on Twitter, preferring to court the attention or be noticed by Hundeyin to using his own platform?

There was a time nairaland was the go-to place for breaking news.
It’s sad that the founder can no longer endure his platform. But rather than let the platform be destroyed as its reputation has been, why not put it up for sale? or get it listed.

Is it on empty stomach that they will resume?

Don't expect a call-off

This Order is just for the books, nothing will change until after a reasonable resolution of the issues that led to the strike in the first place

Lols this is just a court order from a mere industrial court, they can issue orders but they don't have the power under the law the enforce the order, the only court that has such powers is Supreme Court, now ASUU may decide to sue FG to the Supreme Court praying to the court to set aside judgment of the Supreme Court and start matters afresh, this case may linger more than u think because court case no dey finish quick, it is matter of the law, no be strength dem dey use do am grin

ASUU goes back to work, end the pending semester, returns to another strike and then the loop continues. Already the ASUU chairman has said they will obey the court order but i am sure another strike is looming very soon.

Make una use this time apply and collect your transcript
