This isn’t true. Attached is an open letter written by Indian students to the IRCC. As you can see, even the ones who applied in April through SDS were waiting as of mid - late August, while the the regular applicants have gotten theirs. Despite being pivotal to Canada’s elaborate immigration programs, I think IRCC is poorly funded and visa officers do things how they like. If not, we won’t be seeing too many cases of applicants winning appeals. For me, once you submit your application, what happens is unpredictable and there’s very little you can do, unless there are issues you HAVE to address. tlk2Prince: For real? Indians getting PPR and we are here waiting like say na heavenly race. The whole wait dey frustrating tbh but last last we’d get a positive result.

You are making so much sense man, I was surprised myself to hear Indians getting PPR back2back, not that I doubt the message because it could be possible too. I can also remember one applicant from India that committed suicide because of the long wait and the next day he got approval. To be honest, I did not expect this poor management from advanced country like Canada. Waiting without no concrete reason is BS, frustrating and annoying too. The least they could do is attend to prospective students well on time because these are peoples future/plans they are putting on hold. Because there’s not much we can do after putting so much effort and submit our applications, let’s wait it out and surely it ends in praise. Xclusiveman: This isn’t true. Help clarify The visa only allow you to enter Canada. Study permit allow you to stay, work and study in Canada. It is issued at the point of entry which is valid for the duration on your passport or duration of your program, whichever is shorter. To answer your question. Getting a study permit means that your visa to travel to Canada has earlier been approved. I hope this helps. 3 Likes |

Congratulations olokings: So this journey ds started with an intent in 2021 to acquire a dual citizen future for my kids visa study route since Express Entry was no longer feasible.
Did tons of research, mostly for info from Nairaland here.
Applied for study permit for Family of 5 (we are 6, as 1 child is a US citizen, we wanted to birth the last one in Canada as wifey had applied and gotten visitor visa in Jan 2020 but was unable to travel because of covid. We tried to birth her in the US but they denied us, thanks to Trump).
So we applied for visa (SP for me and 2 kids, VV for 1 kid, SOWP for wifey) precisely April 30th for the whole fam. Did upfront medicals. 5 days after submission, I began bombing Nairobi office emails with request to update medicals. Medicals were updated on 18th May.
6 weeks after application I started bombarding Nairobi office on status update, applied for gcms notes (it never came out till today), applied for status update thru MP who reverted that our well phonology was under review, although nothing was showing in portal.
I continued with emails firing, updating it every week, sending every Monday and Friday 3 emails per day. Praying them to consider my application on the need to get decision on time to finalize plans for family travel.
Charitojames, 2pretty4u were my goto posts for encouragement.
PPR came for all of us at once on 24 Aug.
Stamped passports on 1st Sept.
Tried to defer till January 2023 but school refused. So I had to quickly buy ticket for myself to ga'an resume. While I will return to pick family after Xmas.
Ethiopian airline departure was 19th Sept. Arrived Abuja Airport, Africa just ask N1500 mk I carry my big bag of foods dey go..I kukuma give an a I no want long talk.
Paid excess luggage about N88k (walahi, I pack foods no be small.. made a checklist from una plenty submissions here... I only saw indomie chicken, I kukuma but 2 cartons brave am like that). Wrapped my bag at the airlift before check in.
Carried hands luggage and extra back pack. PS: weda or not you are paying excess luggage, your bag cannot exceed 32k..... so know how to sort your things amongst different baah not to exceed 32kg per bag... I sweat like easter ghost while doing this because I have to be weighing the bag after every item removed or added.
Flight route: Abuja - Addiss Ababa (5hrs), had a 2 hr layover that felt like 30 minutes.... Addis Ababa- Dublin (8.5hrs)... speed for refueling, we didn't disembark the aircraft..... another long one Dublin - Toronto (6.5hrs)... I ate during the Abuja-addis flight, n only had dessert for the Addiss-Dublin. I like to travel light so that local man no go tell pilot say make e Park mid air make I enter Bush go do Number 2..... I am choosy like that.. lol
arrived Toronto 8am, did Self declaration, went to immigration, they only asked for LOI, and asked us all student to sitdon. 10 minutes later. They came out with printed study permit. Ushered me to a counter, Arab guy say, give me your study permit and passport, stamped me in. Finito.
Went to baggage claim, picked up my bags, went to drop off with connecting flight Air Canada to Moncton which doesn't take off for another 4 hrs.. omo make I dey waka about dey look.
Na so we see an.. already missing my fam, but no qualms.. if they miss me too much, mk they buy ticket come as visa dey dia pocket.
Like this, so, maple land don carry extra talent.... mk I go update my cv, attack them.. hehehe 3 Likes |

I got My PPR yesterday.
I joined This thread in December 2021 and part of my goal for the new year was to relocate to Canada. I dint want to pay an agent so I was determined to gather every info possible that will help me apply by myself. From December 2021 - May 2022, I read this thread everyday.
First thing I knew I needed was a company to pay me salary and I got one and started building the salary account since January -May (4 months bank statement).
I also informed my sponsor (brother) early in the year so he was saving towards my application.
When I was satisfied with the 4 month statement of account from both myself and my sponsor without showing lump sums, I decided it was time to apply for august 29th resumption at uni of Regina.

Congratulations hayoBams: It feels good to be able to share my ppr journey with the nairaland family. I was busy with sending my passport that is y I haven't dropped this sooner, but I'm here now.
I sincerely appreciate all the information and personal experiences shared on this thread. It has indeed helped quite a lot of people including me I owe to this forum Alot as I have profited immensely from it.
I shall be sharing my experience and timeline for my which was successful. please ignore any typographical error as I was literally trembling while typing this. Enough has been said about the preamble and now to main Koko "lol"
as I said in my previous post 1 year no be beans, The journey to Canada started for me in September 2021. But I had no idea about the how to go about it. then a cousin of mine who's also in Canada introduced me to this very informative platform.
I took an IELTS examination in December 2021 and I passed excellently well then I started building up my account "I won't go into much details on building my account cause you don't know who is who on this platform" I was determined to building it for at least 6 months. during this time I applied for an admission at York university for an undergraduate program in software engineering.it literally took a whole month before I got any update from york. then came February 10, I got an admission but to my surprise i was offered an entirely different program to what I had proposed for and the tuition fee was also too much. I was weak but I still had time to regroup my self.
I applied for another admission in March, but this time to 3 different schools including centennial college, George brown college and Humber college. i was offered admission at centennial college then shortly after George brown updated me. I waited a little bit for humber admission but it didn't come on time. I decided i had to go ahead and apply for the study permit with the centennial college LOA on may 14th, 2022. note This is my first application.
Find below the timeline: Portal GCkey * Application date 14/05/2022 * Biometric enrolment 16/05/2022 * Upfront medical. 05/05/2022 * Medical updated 12/06/2022 * Eligibility I'm not really sure about this. * bvl 12/09/2022 * ppr 20/09/2022
documents submitted include the following
1. College Unconditional Official Letter of Admission 2. Tuition deposit receipt (from the College) 3. Copy of my Birth Certificate 5. Copy of my NECO result 6. Copy of my International Passport Bio data page 7. Copy of my family picture (dad, mum,Siblings and I) 8. Statement of Purpose. 9. Landed property documents in (Deed of assignments and Survey plans) 10. medicals 11. CAC 12. sponsor statement of account (mom) 13. IELTS Examination result 14. Tax clearance certificate 15. affidavit of sponsorship 16. bank reference letter
my application took 4 months and a week, the wait wasn't easy at all. I didn't even send any emails to them. my application wasn't even close to the best anytime I come on naira land and see stories of refusal I usually say to my self that "these people that were refused even went extra miles in their application shey Dem go give me like dis" But God came through for me and will also come through for the ones waiting. I owe alot to this platform, thanks to everyone who played a big role in my journey the 1 year journey has now come to an end. 2 Likes |
