Also pls who will pay for the LMIA approval? The employer or employee? |
Re: Canada Closed Work Permit by waqanda: 7:43am On Sep 24, 2022 |
Johnson808:That varies from companies Big companies tend to cover the cost while some small startup might tell to do that. 1 Like 1 Share |

The employers pay for lmia, you pay for processing except it's an arranged employment or scam. Johnson808: 3 Likes |

adeolabilkis002:I don't think my CV is Canadian styled I have been using the CV for over 3years with simple modifications over time. I think it's because of the industry I am. Vanhack is free, they offer premium services but I didn't go for it. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Johnson808:I doubt. For my industry, it's much more than that. I have also noticed most express entry process requires at least a year experience and the more the better. What you can do is look for job descriptions for your role and see the requirements. indeed and the Canada job bank is a good place to start |
Re: Canada Closed Work Permit by rockford: 2:05pm On Sep 27, 2022 |
Been a while here We have moved since second week of August. The week leading to our departure was very stressful. Buying and packing was not fun. We had foodstuffs weighing up to 65k , and infant luggage over 40kg We had booked business class on Ethiopian Airlines so the luggage size was not a problem and really glad we did. Please if it's not too much for you, book business class for long distance travels, it's worth it. It's cheaper on airlines like Ethiopian compare to Qatar, Emirates, Lufthansa etc. Our flight was quite long, over 30hrs to get to our final destination as we had layover in Ethiopia, then refuelling in Dublin and another layover in Toronto. Immigration was smooth at Toronto, there's a priority line for families. The immigration officer only asked for my work offer letter, correspondence letter (LOI) and passport. He collected only passports from my partner and baby. We waited for about 20mins and I heard him making calls talking about the dried fish in one of my checked in bag I was calm since I already declared it in arriveCan and it was not over the limit. He called us later with no mention of the fish and gave me a printed work permit, my partner's work permit and my baby's visit permit. He explained some things in the letter to us and that was it. Left there and went to pick our bags. Getting to our final destination/province, I had people from my office(including the CEO) already waiting for us. My baby's stroller/car seat was missing and I complained at the airport office, they gave us a brand new one and said there was a mixup and we will get it later in the week (which we did) and we can keep the new one too. Already booked an Airbnb for all of August and got an apartment for September while in Nigeria, so accommodation was sorted. It has been really good here. Registered for our SIN and opened a bank account in the first week. People here are very very nice. It's the nicest I have ever seen. I have read and seen oyinbo people can be "snubbish" and they like their own space but people here have been good. I am much more happy for my baby. My baby has been the biggest winner in all of this. We received tons of gifts and deals for things. We are already eligible for PR through PNP and might pursue this soonest. Although, we could apply for PR right from Nigeria via the job offer but it could take up to two years and the company decided against it. It's been over a month now and things have been alright, coping with the weather and making sense of the culture. Everything here is different but we are getting up to speed gradually. I will answer any questions regarding this movement and others that I can answer to the best of my ability. Thank you Forgive typos 27 Likes 3 Shares |

@rockford congratulations. This is what I'm looking forward too hopefully in months from now. Please answer these questions below 1. what was the cost of the flight ticket? 2. Do you also have to pay for Airbnb when you are aware that your employer is going to provide an accomodation probably upon arrival which is part of the contract ? 3. With spouse open work permit, are jobs readily available or spouse have do a rigorous job hunting to secure one. 4. Can spouse who is a dependent and have an open work permit be the primary applicant for PR? I'm really optimistic. |

Re: Canada Closed Work Permit by rockford: 12:58am On Sep 29, 2022 |
donoz: 1. Flight ticket was around 2.9m for 3 of us. 2. My employer wasn't going to pay for my accommodation, no agreement of such so it was all paid by me. They helped with securing the apartment though. 3. I doubt jobs are readily available anywhere. My spouse isn't working at this moment sef. It all depends on your industry and experience. But I don't expect it to be as rigorous as what we have in Naija but it's also not on a platter of gold. 4. Of course if eligible and does makes immigration sense. This depends on the PR route too. 1 Like |

Hello Rockford, congrats. I wish to be like you someday. Please I would like to ask, 1, My passport renewal is taking time. Like I don’t know when it would be ready. Do you think I should wait to get my international passport before I start searching and applying for jobs with LMIA or can I start applying for the jobs while still waiting for my passport to be ready? 2, About how long did the whole process take you? Ranging from the very first day you started applying for the jobs to the day you got to Canada. |

peejayT: I didn’t seem to see it from the first to the last page. I only wish to know: 1, if I can start applying now even though my international passport is not ready yet or I must have my passport ready before I can start applying. 2, Also if the whole process took like 1 year, less than a year or greater than a year. Starting from the first day of applying for the very first job ever applied for on this course to when he eventually got to Canada. |
Re: Canada Closed Work Permit by peejayT: 8:44pm On Oct 06, 2022 |
Dalie: 1. It’s not dependent on intl passport 2. IRCC is really messing up a lot. No timeline, but their websites says 57weeks from the day of biometrics. |
