I believe the free meter rollouts made this possible. I know Ikeja disco will claim about 20% of the revenue.

They're running a business aren't they? To the best of my knowledge, you have to invest in your business to earn profits. Our DISCO operators seem to think otherwise and you seem to agree with them.

And you think they would make a profit when government sets their prices?

You also think they haven't invested?

We have GSM working because not only were they allowed to invest, but allowed to set their prices.

Please, don't argue with me. If government was setting your price as a businessman, you won't like it. And you know it.

NERC and power generation companies are supposed to generate up to 1 trillion naira if power supply is constant.
The neighbouring countries tapping Nigeria's power supply have been owing billions of naira
They don’t know people would pay if there is a Constant electricity.

Getting all customers prepaid meters would ultimately benefit the discos and get them more revenue, but the NEPA in them won't allow it. Their staff benefit too much from sharp practices and lining their personal pockets
They are currently fixing prepaid metres in my area, they are not even waiting for you to request, na compulsory

More like "Electricity consumers scammed of £₦210 billion naira in three months".

Glad I'm not one of the magas that paid.

My payment is only to the sun and my gratitude is only to the Almighty for creating the sun to do that job for me.

Which free meter? The government said the meters are free, the thieving DISCOs demanded money and then delayed providing said meters.

they will lose if they provide meters for everybody. They make more gain from estimated bills. They used to give me bill of 10k every month. Upon getting prepaid meters, i discovered i can't finish energy of 3k. That was in 2018. With increase in cost of electricity, i cant still finish energy of 5k in a month. The last i bought energy was on 21st july. I have been using it since then till yesterday that i travelled for a burial.

My sentiments exactly. It's very obvious that the corruption in the power sector thrives because of estimated billing. They say we need to pay about N80/kWh for the power business to be profitable but we pay only about N50/kWh therefore they don't have money to invest. That's a big lie and it's obvious even to the blind. With estimated billing, we pay far more than N100/kWh out of which they declare crumbs like they just did in this news item.

Some people however say we must pay more. I say NO! meter everybody then review prices. Simple! If not, we'll only end up funding the lavish lifestyles of some crooks in the power sector even more than we're already doing.
