For about thesame cash outlay, Victron is more robust, has better support for a large variety of Lithium batteries, has a lot more features and nearly infinite programmability, and has far better design (the product design shows superior understanding of how an inverter and ancillaries should operate and integrate) You should check out the Victron offerings and we can compare notes FEGEITOK: 1 Like |

odimbannamdi: That 190v is definitely a plus. Thank you. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ceaser: 9:11pm On Sep 22, 2022 |
odimbannamdi: Nice one. But no fan?! While this being an improvement over the earlier model is desirable, I will say that the absence of a cooling fan is rather a step lower for a device with 190v VoC. The use of cooling fins in these things usually make the sizes larger than average and I'm not really a fan of that. The fans in the previous model is not known to fail prematurely, at least with experience for about three years now, and that fan does a pretty good job at keeping the device within operating temperature. So beyond the fact that this improved model has a claimed VoC of 190 (which may even be debatable) giving the fact that the previous model with a claimed VoC of 150v only allows around 125v in reality, I personally may not be too enthusiastic to upgrade to it. Perhaps the only things that may make me to be excited about upgrading to it from the existing working model that I have is if the VoC is around 250v and there is BT capability or remote monitoring capability. I also hope in this model they have addressed the incorrect current display problem of the old model. This is my personal opinion though. But for a fact, new entrants into the solar journey will do well starting with this new model especially if they can afford it. |

NiyiOmoIyunade: I am just in love with Victron. Victron is amazing . Problem is the price . My 1.6kva victron does wonders . Runs my fridge and freezer, 2 Laptops, lighting points, 55 inches TV, Routers and V-sat and phone charging and more . All less than 50% of its ability. When I visit another property that I have a 2kva Mikrotec Inverter , just 2 laptops and a tv , the inverter fan kicks in and it starts struggling. I would rather have an 800w victron Inverter against buying other 1.6kva of other brand 4 Likes |

China May Find It Hard to Cool Lithium’s Rally This Time Around Prices taking out records in China as market stays tight The latest industry meeting won’t help short term: BNEF ByAnnie Lee September 23, 2022 at 12:00 AM GMT+1 Scorching gains for lithium, a raw material vital for powering electric vehicles, threaten to push costs even higher for Chinese battery makers, and the government is finding itself powerless to do anything about it. Even after a meeting last week where Chinese authorities pleaded with major producers to stabilize prices, lithium carbonate surged to a fresh record, rising to 500,500 yuan ($70,716) a ton. In yuan terms, that exceeds the level prevailing when Tesla Inc.’s Elon Musk called prices “insane” earlier this year. Seems battery price will continue to go up |

[quote author=NiyiOmoIyunade. Oga, you said about the same outlay.... Victron is far more higher in price than Deye. Though Victron is more robust as you rightly pointed out, but many people still prefer Deye for price average and other personal reasons. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 2:55pm On Sep 23, 2022 |
I believe we were comparing Victron vs. Schneider boss. Deye is a decent but yet immature product in my own view and for my own purposes. I use it at home as a backup system to store and use excess PV from the Victron side of things. Deye is setup as the mains input into my Victron's AC In 2 and comes alive every evening to preferentially discharge my EVE cells until LVD then the Victron can start discharging the Pylontech bank. To be clear the Deye works well enough in a simple home use scenario but still needs work to become a truly pro grade inverter. isangjohnson: |

NiyiOmoIyunade: I recall earlier where you said victron isn't a DIY plug and play device....has that changed, if not best you always state that when recommending victron, b4 a newbie listens to your advice and goes to buy victron, but gets stumped and finds out, he cant install and use right out the box 1 Like |

earthrealm: While paying an arm and leg in the process. Chinese inverter manufacturers have come a long way in quality inverters that are budget friendly without all the bells and whistles that European products like Victron, SMA etc have. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by FEGEITOK: 3:59pm On Sep 23, 2022 |
samir101ng: Your concerns are noted. That said when I wanted to buy an AC, I got Panasonic because of their reputation for quality, last week I wanted to get another AC, and did some more research and two names popped up, Panasonic and Daikin. Needless to say there are other brands which maybe cheaper. But quality to me is more important than price. I am interested in Schneider and Victron precisely because of the bells and whistles. I want more than a barebones inverter. 3 Likes |

FEGEITOK: Great to hear You can checkout SolaX X1 Hybrid G4 and Alpha ESS SMILE-G3 range of inverters for all in one inverters with high voltage batteries. SolaX has an authorised dealer here in Nigeria https://www.atlanticwastepower.com/ with a 10yr warranty on their products. Cool setups that are an all in one package without seperate charge controllers, combiner box, batteries, etc. 2 Likes |

The target market for Victron is folks & businesses who want industrial grade reliability and a ton of value added features & near infinite programmability. The installers are expected to be professionally trained & possess a superior knowledge of energy systems and their design, deployment and management in complex scenarios - to this end Victron have provided comprehensive training and support via text and video on all aspects of their systems with a clear path from noob to competence. A committed DIYer can avail the trainings to come up to speed, acquire the MK2/MK3 dongles needed for configs or use 'Remote VE Configure' via a GX device. Basically every feature/tool you need to work with Victron devices can be purchased from their reps at moderate cost, or you can rig up your own at your own time and expense and they provide fully useable instructions and diagrams to DIY all these tools and interfaces. The only barrier/requirement is the rigor to actually learn how things work and how to do things right then you can DIY with confidence and Victron's full support. If all one needs is basic inverter and solar charger functionality then such a person does not necessarily need to use Victron equipment. earthrealm: 2 Likes |

dollarnaira: I am sorry if I caused any confusion by using cheap instead of affordable. My first AC brand was Panasonic, the second AC brand was LG, the experience was as clear as 7up. Panasonic is way better. The third AC brand is Daikin, I picked Daikin because based on my research it is as good as Panasonic if not better. I just got it today. My reason for sharing is that I researched the brand, I researched their technology, I studied comparisons between Daiken and Panasonic, before I decided that Daikin is worth my money. I try to make purchases a logical as opposed to emotional decision. I was at their shop last week, got data and then got home and studied those and more before deciding. I did them same before picking my 1.5KVA Homaya. I did the same before deciding to go for the 8kva Schneider. Now I am about to do a comparison between Schneider and Victron. There are certain bells and whistles that attracted me to Schneider, and I gather those bells and whistles are in Victron but not in Deye. I agree that Deye is more affordable, but for some reason I don't love the brand as much. Maybe I should research Deye more deeply, but for now my mind gravitates towards Schneider and Victron based on features and not pricing. 2 Likes |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ceaser: 7:48pm On Sep 23, 2022 |
FEGEITOK: Well, it's not just about the brand names, especially when dealing in the Nigerian market, but also the availability of the real deal. As far as these electronics are concerned, there are "products made for Africa" which are always below par what they produce for the US and Europe. This is especially common for TVs like LG, Samsung and Hisense. I have LG TVs purchased directly from Fouani (LG direct rep in Nigeria) and also a year old used imported from Europe. Mehn, you need to see the clear cut difference. In quality, the Europe model trumps the one from fouani many times over. So my question to you is if you got these Panasonic and Daikin ACs from Nigerian reps which will in effect mean you're likely offered "Made for Africa" model or you had them imported as Europe models? |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by FEGEITOK: 8:15pm On Sep 23, 2022 |
ceaser: Agreed, that it is not about the brand name, but the source of the brand, my research led me to the direct representatives. I got it from the direct representative, and got it installed by a certified installer. My Panasonic was made in Malaysia, we have have made in China and made in Indonesia. My Diakin is made in India. That said, I am trying out Daikin having been thoroughly impressed by Japanese technology in Panasonic. Need I say I got a Panasonic blender that has lasted over 15 years and works as new, never been repaired. Daikin is also Japanese. 2 Likes |
