I don't get. You want to download an app from the Play store and install it on an Android phone and have it remain installed if the phone is formatted or factory reset? Without working with the manufacturer to embed the app in their OS?

It's possible bro,....i mean by installing it in the system/app. If the phone is set to factory reset,....only the data or cache will be lost and the Application will be intact(requires User's permission though).

Most of the Application that uses this pattern are Anti-Theft Applications . Data and cache aren't important to 'em as they use Phone IMEI as phones identification and location to track the phone - i.e once the phone connects to internet, it auto install necessary dependency and sends live location/data to the server.



I might be wrong somewhere though but that's my understanding of how it works

It's not easy to get apps to install into the system/app location. Device developers guard that location like hell

I knew it was Cerberus kind of software you had in mind. In 2016 I worked for a Nigerian company that had a similar idea (it was ahead of it's time). We were looking to start a business model were we could encourage people to purchase devices on finance. One Finance were set to be our finance partners as the projections looked good. Spoke with an Israeli company that developed such software and they too were excited to get into the Nigerian market. We had conversations with Transsion (makers of Tecno and Infinix) and Samsung about embedding the software in their OS so that it was uninstallable and we could apply a kill switch in the event of a default. They required a minimum order quantity far in excess of what we could afford. So yes the technology does exist (and I know of at least one or two existing solutions that would fit your need), the question is what use case do you intend to have this deployed? Is this for end consumers or for enterprise? What do you intend to accomplish with the solution? Do you have target devices? Android? Apple will be near impossible because they have a solution for enterprise and are very guarded about their OS. Also while you have a budget for the app, do you have a budget for the command and control server that will have to manage these devices? That often can blindside business. What is your business model? How does the business plan to make money from this?
