I am still here in Nigeria tho and there is this agent who a friend introduced me to. My friend happens to know someone in the UK who he chatted with that he is interested in relocating and she shared a contact with him. She told my friend that she got to the UK through the same agent. She said he doesn’t process UK for now tho that he can help with Canadian Sponsorship Visa and all he has to do is get a form from him first and then follow the steps.
Since I have my passport ready, I decided to reach out to the agent too. I paid for my form and did a lot which includes a statement of account for funds confirmation.
Now since everything was accepted, a text was sent to me from Canada Emb on an appointment date at Abuja which will be in about 2 weeks time from now.
I was scheduled so I decided to ask the agent for things I am meant to bring along with and he then immediately, he sent a text to me. I will paste it here so maybe someone with more experience can help me out because I have not done this before and I don’t know how true it is.
For better explanation, I will paste the message I got from the agent after I received a text from Canada Emb.
I have my doubts tho but please how real is this NON APPEARANCE thing?

This smell like the normal visa scam..embassy do not text ,,even the agent told you biometic is done at the agent office ..i guess on paper..another red flag...i have seen many scam like this ...one agent even paste a fake visa,inside a guy passpport after collect milloons and then advice he pass via dubai since na special visa...all na scam !!!

You don’t have to be an engineer to apply. You only need to be a Canadian resident/citizen and apply as an apprentice in f you don’t have any experience in any of the trades. Once you get into one the unions, you will be trained and fully absolved into the union in 18 months. You can still earn while training, though you get paid the apprentice rate, which is even higher than the average minimum wage. After 18 months, you start receiving your full benefits/pay rate.

einsteino: A colleague at work, is trying to make the switch from Structural Designer to Structural Engineer. She asked me for some help with the technical exams PEO(Professional Engineers Ontario) assigned her. After looking at the courses, I came up with what I think are the best courses to take as an immigrant structural engineer. Since most Nigerian Civil Engineers are heavily focused on structures, this course selection might be the wiser choice for a Nigerian Civil Engineer who finds his/herself in my colleague's shoe.
Two group A courses: Elementary Structural Analysis Elementary Structural Design
One group B course: Advanced Structural Design
I selected these courses because they involve less reading, since their knowledge areas overlap. They are also what I use everyday at work. That way, you are not just trying to pass an exam but brushing up on skills that you would need to land and keep a structural engineer job in Canada.
The only knowledge area in those courses that would be alien to Nigerian trained engineers is Earthquake Engineering and Seismic Design. The good thing is that the focus here is earthquake loads rather than the engineering design itself, that should not be difficult to learn. Even if it were the engineering, I would rather study that than have to do courses like Hydraulics or Geotechnical Engineering lol.
I have included a google drive link to reference textbooks and a draft of the required Canadian code. One thing to note, design manuals cover the same topics as textbooks. At work, we use Design manuals more often than textbooks but when you are trying to learn something for the first time, focus on textbooks.
Do not overload yourself, you are not trying to read every text from cover to cover. Focus on the topics listed by PEO, I also included a pdf of this.
If all of this seems too much for you, exhale and remember that life doesn't begin nor end in Engineering. There are several other rewarding careers in Canada and probably with less than half the stress. Even I remind myself of this. If you insist this is for you but you need an easier way out, consider applying to other provincial engineering regulators like APEGA.
One last tip: If applying to PEO, you should make sure that you include a course description for at least all undergraduate courses. This is especially important if you don't have a Canadian post graduate Engineering degree (Masters or PhD). Even though I have that, I still included a course description, better safe than sorry. In the absence of course descriptions for a foreign undergrad degree, PEO is more likely to ask you to sit exams because they have no way to tell what topics your education covered.

It’s a SCAM, can’t you read between the lines? You are even making enquiries so you will possibly look into the possibility of doing such? I have heard of a scam where the werey agent took them to Ghana to do biometrics, it still ended up being a scam.

Yes, the firm is in many markets and is one of North America's largest engineering firms. So it has engineers from various disciplines, not only civil. There are some openings for project coordinator and field engineers posted on the company website.
Hello, I'm planning to apply to a school that cost around 13000 cad, I plan to work to pay for my tuition fees and as well take care of my feeding and accomodation. My sponsor will take care of my feeding and accommodation for the first 3 months, after that, I'm on my own. Is this possible?

You must be ready to hustle real hard, you will do the normal 20 hours a week job and you will also do cash jobs to get extra income. 4. Once the school is on long holiday, you will work for like 80hours a week in other to save up. The money u make during the long break would be used to pay your second year fees. 5. You won't live a luxurious life for these 2 years period. No unnecessary spending, no dates, no fancy phones on credit etc.
N:B: working cash jobs/extra hours during school session is illegal, so u must not be caught.
In summary, ensure that your first year tuition is sorted before u leave Nigeria
