Stop making this funny statement. Many Niger Delta states have already achieved what Imo State is planning to achieve but couldn't beat Lagos in investments and revenue.

Replace economic zone of Southern Nigeria with economic zone of the South East because Imo State cannot easily topple Rivers and Delta States. Remember that Lagos is also in the South.

Whichever is the case, what's happening in Imo State, if it finally comes to fruition, is commendable.

This is not like a usual igbo state layout and planned city. This looks more like a Washington D C layout plan and serene. PRESIDENCY APPROVES THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 10MEGA WATTS HYDRO POWER GENERATING PLANT AT OTAMIRI AND NWORIE RIVER.

Imo State is yet again enjoying dividends of Democracy from the Federal Government through the interventions of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma as the President has approved the construction of a 10Mwatts Hydropower Generating Plant at Otamiri and Nworie Rivers.

Governor Hope Uzodimma disclosed this at the preliminary luncheon for the 62nd Independence Day Thanksgiving Mass, where he hosted Ndi Imo at the Government House Banquet Hall.

According to the Governor, the Hydro Power Generating plant at Otamiri and Nworie Rivers, is geared towards generating and supplying uninterruptible power supply within Owerri Metropolis and beyond.

The Governor added that with the recent approval for the dredging of Orashi River into the Atlantic Ocean, the Government has plans to float the Orashi Free Trade Zone for Oil and Gas. The Governor speaking, “With an initial $1.5b foreign investment, this will translate to much more than 300,000 job and economic opportunities”.

The Governor therefore, appealed to the conscience of the people to shun violence and arms bearing as options to address marginalization as the Shared Prosperity Government is addressing such issues.

The luncheon was attended by Wife of the Governor, Barr. Chioma Uzodimma; top government functionaries like the Deputy Governor, Prof Placid Njoku; Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emeka Nduka (leading his principal officers and other members); Secretary to Government of Imo State, Chief Cosmas Iwu; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr  Nnamdi Anyaehie; Commissioners, other Government appointees and Heads of Government agencies and parastatals.

These are rural roads but they are already better and well paved than the roads in owerri which are mostly dilapidated littered with filth everywhere. Anambra has the best roads and most organised in igboland both dual and single lane roads. Unlike imo state where everywhere is disorganised, dirty and unplanned without any traffic light nor any form of Modernity.

The guy you quoted is very correct. Onitsha is the biggest most important city in igboland. Aba is a dilapidated shithole. Owerri and umuahia are glorified villages. Enugu, Awka Asaba, Abakaliki etc, are developing so well too. Abia and imo states are the two worst and most backward states in southern Nigeria
