N1b Bribe: Group Asks EFCC To Invite Ayu Over Wike's Allegations

A socio-political group, Rescue Nigeria Economy Project, on Saturday urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) to invite Senator Iyorchia Ayu, embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to respond to the corruption allegations leveled against him by Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike.

Wike, in a television interview with some journalists in Port Harcourt on Friday described Ayu as very corrupt man who collected the sum N1b from a presidential aspirant in Lagos shortly before the PDP's presidential primary.

“I’m totally informed. Ayu has the opportunity to challenge me, I will reveal more. Some of the governors can tell you. Will he deny the fact that he collected N1bn from Lagos? Let him deny it; I will tell him who gave him the money not from the Lagos State Government. The money was given to him in Lagos.

“He met one of the presidential candidates (aspirants) and told him that he’s not sure these governors may want to sponsor the party".

However, in a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, Dennis Alamu-George, the group said Ayu's silence over the weighty allegations leveled against him by Wike shows that something is amiss.

" We are surprised that 24 hours after the weighty allegations leveled against the PDP Chairman by the Rivers state governor, he has neither confirm nor deny the claim".

" For us, silence is not golden on this matter. If Ayu fails to challenge Wike to prove his allegations, then the anti-graft agencies should do the needful. The EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa should personally take up the matter".

" For the national chairman of a political party which has been accusing the ruling party of corruption and misgovernance and has offered itself as a better alternative to be involved in this humongous scandal is not only alarming but at the same time worrisome" the statement said.

Wike should be invited not Ayu. If efcc is to invite everybody on allegation then Peter obi should also be invited because of the allegations his former aid laid against him.
Anybody that made the allegations should have the responsibility of proving his allegations.
Efcc invite Wike!

Honestly there's money in this country enough to go round, but what do we have? Rotten smelly hands politicians with devilfish minds. Imagine bribing a single man 1b Naira. That is enough to create a standard bakery in all state capitals of the country that can employ thousands of teeming youth. PDP is stupendously rich as well as Atiku.

Someone has been reading my posts wink The main issue raised in that interview is a corruption petition against Sen Ayu and a call on EFCC to unravel the aspirant that paid the N1billion bribe.

If Tinubu who's a well known international criminal is working freely, then they should allow others too cos Tinubu is worst than any corrupt man you can think of in this country.

So Peter Obi who was part of the rot until about ninety days ago is now Mr Clean Whistle? Obi who paired with "Corrupt" Atiku three years ago is the Hercules that'll clean the Augean stables? So Obi who was once a Governor in this corrupt dispensation has metamorphosed overnight to the sweeper of corruption from the streets? So Obi didn't pay a farthing when like Nicodemus he went cap in hand to the Labour Party which had already concluded its nominations that he be given its presidential ticket? He would have stayed on in "corrupt" PDP if he was given the ticket! Obi is bereft of principles. He's a desperate politician who was weak enough to know that with Atiku contesting, he had not a chance in hell to win. He's a man of expediency. Pray, tell us the kind of hyssop that cleansed Obi in such a short time, that we may apply it to the other corruption-infested areas of Nigeria's weak spheres. I didn't realize that you people were as low as this! You keep on promoting mediocrity when Igboland is full of eminent Nigerians who can be President of any other nation of the world. Obi is going nowhere. It's your inordinate fixation on him that prevents you from seeing that the Igbo have become the laughing stock of the other Nigerians. A One-man project for President which isn't bothered by the fact that it doesn't have candidates for national and state assemblies, for governor and for councillor! Who is the leader that doesn't have followers beside the unruly partisans of his clansmen whose stock in trade is name-calling, abuse and laying of curses? One hopes that the Igbo would not attempt to burn down the house when the reality of their daydreams comes into physical manifestation in February 2023.
