AdaFelly: Best to go to the centre in person, the online is strictly on appointments. Most of my students have got same day medical without appointment, ensure you have your yellow-card to save time. NB: this is only applicable to Abuja, might be different for other centres , also note, Australia has specific days in the week, hence you might not get same day if it's not specific to Australia medicals. |

Itzpetersv: It is better you go for Master, this is to makes it easier for you. But if you still want to go for Bsc, it is still good but you will have to defends yourself, that is what have you been doing from 2015 till now, maybe you were doing business or farming or so. |

Hi people, Please, help me a couple of questions. 1. What do I need to apply for student visa for a full-funded phd program to Australia? 2. I will be getting my CoE and oshc proof this week. Do I do biometrics & medicals before visa application? 3. Please, what’s this GTE thing and at what stage do I need it? I will appreciate any more info. Thanks |

tochi0155: English test is an immigration requirement, again it increases your chances of securing admission as you'll be competing with thousands/millions of students that meets the requirements and have English test. 2 Likes |

DutanTheThird: Just to clarify, GTE is a requirement for the issuance of CoE and you can only get OSHC when your CoE is out. If you're applying from Nigeria, after an offer of admission , you'll apply for GTE with all requirements specified by the University. If GTE is approved, then you'll pay for tuition and OSHC(Most schools require OSHC before they issue CoE) Thereafter, you'll be issued CoE Then you can apply for visa Then Medical and Biometric Then arrive Australia So simple right ? |

tochi0155: You can ask for waiver from your university. but then, you need to provide them with result of your waec/neco assuming you passed English in flying colors. You also need to provide them with cover letter from the dean of your faculty assuming you already have a first degree back in Nigeria. In your exemption letter let them understand English has always been your medium of studies. You speak English in your family setting and Nigeria was colonized by British hence English is our official language. The structure of your write up will determine if they will grant you waiver. Immigration doesn't have the right to ask for IELTS as they are not the school they have accessed your eligibility unless your school isn't a streamline University. 2 Likes |
Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by WestAfrican: 10:08pm On Sep 26, 2022 |
tochi0155:Most schools require applicants coming from non English speaking countries to submit IELTS result. You will be amazed to know that South Africans have been removed from this list. Well you may want to write a convincing statement as to why you should be exempted from writing IELTS. If the school is happy with it and you're an AL1 applicant, immigration won't ask for IELTS result. 1 Like |

Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Islamicpope97: 7:13pm On Sep 27, 2022 |
leomax10:Yes you can do self sponsorship, but at least 15m in ur account, but if it’s a AL1 school like streamlined university you don’t need to submit any sort of proof of funds . 2., At least 4 months Bank statement is required. 1 Like |

Hello everyone, Illd be needing a bit of a guidance. Submitted application on the 20th of July, Did biometrics and medical 8/9 August. Got a refusal on the 21st September on this basis “I acknowledge that the applicant has family ties to their home country and place some weight on that in favour of the applicant. However, I have concerns that these ties may not be a strong enough incentive for the applicant to depart Australia upon completion of their studies. I give more weight to consideration of the applicant's potential economic circumstances in their home country compared to Australia and the value of the course to the applicant's future. While I accept that obtaining qualifications from an Australian educational institution may positively influence employment and remuneration prospects in an applicant's home country, I am not satisfied that the applicant demonstrated how they would achieve this against the background of prevailing economic circumstances in their home country. The applicant implied a career pathway intention in their home country and how this would be an incentive for them to return, but did not provide any convincing evidence to support this. I have considered the applicant's likely earning capacity in Australia and in their home country. Based on the information before me, I am not satisfied the financial incentives to return home outweigh the financial incentives to remain in Australia. I therefore place little weight on the applicant's implied intention” I’ve seen like 4 other people with same refusal notes. My questions are How long do we have to wait o reapply, what steps do we need to take to reapply What can we do differently to have a favourable decision? Thank you all |
