We actually exceeded 2 trillion mark in taxes in 2021/2022 - from .1.67 to 2.03 in a year...now aiming for 3 trillion with Ruto.
KRA EXCEEDS REVISED TARGET, RECORDS HIGHEST REVENUE GROWTH IN HISTORY

Nairobi, 7th July, 2022…For the first time in Kenya’s history, the annual revenue collection has hit and surpassed the Two Trillion mark, defying the difficult economic environment brought about by Covid-19. This is after Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) recorded a monumental revenue collection of KShs. 2.031 Trillion for the Financial Year 2021/2022 (July 2021 – June 2022) compared to KShs. 1.669 Trillion collected in the last financial year (FY 2020/2021).

Kenya has done extremely well despite very little in natural resources.

The Mini-Zoo is only better than Nigeria - despite both having huge natural resources.
Kenya is just two years from overtaking Morocco to become 5th largest Africa economy - now more than 110B dollars - and soon 120B - with total revenues of 30B
All this achieved without any major mineral productions or huge arable land.

Mkenya2019:
UNDP-Human progress retreats to 2016 levels by COVID, other crises - so generally countries retreated back 4-5yrs and have to recover - it can be slow or quick recovery.

Some countries like Nigeria are already in such a crisis nothing can take them down further.

It appears that Ghana and Cameroon - breezed through COVID - obviously this why you need many indices (danger of one story) - because it's not true that Ghana were not affected- so UNDP are not infallible and make such errors.

I am okay with reality that COVID hit us ahead - we had 1yr out of school - Uganda did 2yrs out. Tanzania basically breezed through but got hit economically. That some countries were not affected is bs - GHANA has been hard it. UNDP just didnt do their job there.

Ghana did not take a hit from COVID ....
Ghana took a hit by out spending itself in the right places before COVID arrived and even in the face of COVID continued outspending itself..

Don't be surprised again in 5 years from now when Ghana HDI hits 0.800 where all those spending will start paying off

Your big zoo is still struggling to be better than South Sudan despite it huge agriculture land which is almost the Size of Ghana and all the other natural resources your country have.

That doesn't matter when the life of the ordinary Kenyan hasn't transformed because your growth does not trickle down hence the receding HDI.
It doesn't matter when your GDP per Capita is struggling to hit lower middle class level

Sometimes we dont keep abreast of everything. Thanks for highlighting. We have since learnt that Ghana maintained it's HDI for 2020 and 2021 of 0.63- and kenya dropped to 0.57 from 0.601 and now 0.58. Both are still medium HDI.

Now take the honour to tells us how you Zoogeria is doing. I am bet still at the bottom with Burudi with LOW HDI.

border closure and restrictions had no real impact on the Ghanaian economy ...

What has had an impact on the Ghanaian economy is government overspending for 4 years consistently...

Ghana trade did not decrease and neither did revenue or the main sectors of the economy underperformed.

So you might want to change your excuse for why the Kenyan HDI dropped massively because COVID is not the reason

crazy man

Like I've told you, COVID did not have an impact here.

Find another excuse for why Kenya is doing poorly because I don't think it is COVID.

The inflation that Ghana is facing is not from the global inflation but because of helicopter money which is self induced.

The year 2023 would be an amazing year for Lagos and Nigeria in general, as Dangote's largest refinery would begin operations, Ikordu Africa' largest rice mill factory would begin operations, the deepest sea ports in Africa would also begin operations, two rail lines (Red line and Blue line would start operations, the 10-lane Badagry and Oshodi Express with a BRT and rail line in the middle would be completed, and the massive Lekki Expressway would be finished.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM7vlx3NppI

Where been hearing this for the last 10 years and we are getting fed up of projects which are never completed the project for the oil refinery was supposed to be completed in 2021 then it was moved to 2022 2023 will come we shall hear 2025 empty barrels make the most noise. In 2023 there will be no more Nigeria the country with the broken up. The rice mill can never operate. Empty vessels are very good in making noise but let's look at the reality Nigeria's debt is now past Lagos GDP

If you look I have one of the most hardest working people which actually goes out and do the research most of the people here they just sit on their asses and post pictures from the internet but I am not like them I am a hard worker. With a lot of creative ideas I do not think anybody has gone to my level yet. Someone who disagrees with the covid situation as a setback of HDI prowess is an irrefutable undissembled and outrightly obtuse.

HDI is in basic terms Human development( human affairs and prowess)
Being anti LGBTQ is a direct several percentage backward.

Climate change affects human development in such a greater way, as it sinks majority into poverty, deaths, etc.

Covid affected several activities, including job losses and deaths. That's is a clear retrogression of human development(in a greater way) --- what are the consequences of job loss towards humans? Food for thought.

All other remaining aspects within kenyan HDI has improved. Those including life expectancy at birth, schooling years, health facilities and whatnot.

From the report, these aforementioned plus pay gap inequalities are the main reason behind our lapse.

From the report; as you can see, the biggest point of contention is CLIMATE CHANGE! the previous government has done so little in mitigating drought related risks, hope Ruto will achieve that. ..

Good read:
Artificial intelligence is already helping in modelling climate change impacts and in predicting disasters. In biology, it has revolutionised protein folding prediction, a huge boon for medicine.

Like all other countries, Kenya’s HDI was impacted by the most recent shocks, i.e., Covid-19 and the high cost of living induced by the war in Ukraine. Kenya’s 2021 HDI value is 0.575, positioning it at 152 out of 191 countries and territories..

Kenya’s HDI loss due to inequality is 25.9 percent, which lowers the value to 0.426 in 2021. The major contributor to HDI losses comes from income inequality, which contributes 33.1 percent. --- that makes nearly 10% deviation.

In conclusion, we're not doing bad as a country.

Of course, it was a lie. In 2019, Kenya's HDI was 0.601. How did it sink from 0.605 to 0.575 if It wasn't for this Nigerian (Adakiko) , who edited that source a few days before being posted here.

it really is a shame. Tatu city's development has lagged behind for sometime now. It has been on 70 industrial and commercial clients for ages now.
Alaro city is about to catch up at 59 even tho it's started like 10 years after tatu city.

Here are pictures of latest developments including the 8 lane main boulevard(important to point out that tatu city has tiny roads.)

The covid thing messed up Kenya more than most other African countries. It exposed Kenyas soft underbelly.

There's going to be more problems ahead for that country. Tatu city is the least of their concern right now.
