What was your first pc? Jeez! I can't even remember. My first pc was a 286 with 640k ram and a 20mb hard drive. It lasted a week and got upgraded to a 386 4mb ram and an 80mb harddrive. I think laptops followed after that, then work just dashed me one like every year. |

akwesenana: Bulletin boards and Wolfenstein and Lemmings mostly. It ran on MsDos and was superceded by the 386 for Win 3.1 on which I learnt Pascal, C and C+. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

budaatum: Omo! 286!! That's damned old bro. Definitely not a member of "Indomie generation" My first ever PC was a BBC Micro with radio cassettes as external storage. First Laptop was. Toshiba Satellite circa 2002. Work horse that laptop. Used it until it's keys were falling off 2 Likes 2 Shares |

budaatum: Lol! You had a 286 by 1990!!! You were a "big boy". My BBC Micro was not acquired until 1993. First time I saw a PC real life was perhaps in 1990 when I visited a friend whose mum had just come back from the UK with an Amstrad 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: by budaatum: 6:33am On Oct 03, 2022 |
airsaylongcome: No, not Indomie. I'm generation "pounded yam every Sunday", and that's after rebelling that there's no way I'm pounding yam every day! Had a Toshiba too once. My cousin used it carefully till it's keys fell out. 1 Like |

akwesenana: Hence, don't tell anyone. If people know they might start calling me auntie or sister buda, and some might not be able to insult me like some do and we can't have that! |

Early/Mid 2000s Bought a used monitor, case and motherboard. Pentium with 128mb RAM. Windows ME. Saved up for months before I could get the set up. There was no google so i had to pay a ‘computer engineer’ to do the assembly. I watched him and learnt how it was done. He charged around 50k for everything (motherboard, PSU, keyboard and case were brand new though) which was a complete rip off. I was able to now charge others to set up their computers. I started my first ‘company’ and installed 5 computers for a new business center in ibadan. Made enough money to buy a Sagem MyX5 and upgrade my system. Then, computer village was a computer village with techies as traders. Now, it is a tout haven for used phones. I still have that computer in my parent’s house. |
