Not every IMF facility is a bailout. Standby facility is not. What you want to look out for is Extended Facilities. Kenya had those in 90s in stop-go reforms of Moi era. After that we have been generally fine...only taking standby facilities. Just40: 1 Like |

Mkenya2019:what an excuse ... You still manage to put yourself in a deeper corner since Kenya has more Extended facilities than Ghana. Ghana has 7 while Kenya has 10 or 12 of those Next excuse for why you've collected 6 billion from the IMF over the last 60 years 1 Like |

Since 1990s - you've been on extended facility aka bailout. Kenya has had few of those...generally on standby facilities (that are rarely drawn or cashed out) That big difference - Kenya has made ammends on prudent management of public finance - only needing IMF during global crisis like Covid. Ghana every three years is asking IMF for a bailout. Just40: 3 Likes |

Mkenya2019:so now you're disputing the facts? Ghana has had 7 extended facilities as you will like to deflect to Kenya has had 12 since 1989 and your first was 1975.. You receive 2.3 billion ECF last year ... Why are you taking another 3.6 billion EFF this year too? I've never seen a country been this frequent there before. Wasn't your 22 bailout enough? At this point you're getting worse than Liberia 1 Like |

IMF was created for COVID like situations. Many countries have taken bailout due to 3yrs of COVID-War shocks. IMF is meant to handle global shocks and crisis - not babysit countries like Ghana every two-three years - and tell them the obvious - prudently manage your public finances. Nobody imagined a country would be going to IMF for bail out every 3 yrs like Ghana has been doing the last three decades. You were in bailout in 2019 - and now you're inside - and want to take a big one of 3.5b...despite the gold and oil. Just40: |

Going for a bailout is a problem as IMF will give you very tough conditions and literally run your country. Going for precautionary facilities when you see economic headwinds is part of prudent management. What does Ghana do - run to Eurobond or commercial loans - then 3yrs later with shame and their tail behind the legs - they run to IMF for the usual spanking. Just40: 1 Like |

GeneralDae2:Sometimes you're a nuisance. L*cking @ss at the same time spewing misguided information. IGNORANCE AT ITS CORE. Go check ghana lending history: start with the amount withdrawn, by GHANA; Outstanding debt by IMF, and then factor in other crucial aspects like pandemics and disasters, climate change, and calamities. I hope we closed this chapter already. Mhhh, since you just brought it, we'll string along. Ghana has nearly half Kenyan population. Ghana has 95% of the arable land - Kenya 30% or less. Ghana has vast mineral resources. ( including the most valuable one) Ghana has no terrorist borders. Ghana has zero infrastructure worth talking about. If you sum the above syllogistic reasoning; you should get zero debt - Morocco or SA-like, and a very thriving nation. But guess what; ghana still triumphs in that sector of BACKWARDNESS WHY? Kenya experiences all of the above, the biggest one being climate change. Then talk of terror attacks, paltry mineral resources, and whatnot. To add to that; huge infrastructural development: Huge seaports, SGR, Airports, Roads, Skyline, buildings, huge military budget, etc. (* Ghana is devoid of infrastructure development, where does money go? You can do better. Don't engage emotions in your argument. Summary: Ghana outstanding amount: $800k Kenya "". "". :$450k Amount withdrawn by Ghana : $2.5M """"""""""""""''''''''''''''''""" Kenya : $1.5M Get your facts right.

Shma2022:is that the new excuse for why you've taken 22 bailouts? Kenya has 54% of it lands as agriculture lands, that is more than the land size of Ghana Kenya has twice Ghana population in any case shouldn't be taking 22 bailout Kenya has vast amount of resources Kenya has less infrastructure than Ghana in all area of development. So why is Kenya this backward, what did you use all those 90 billion loans you've taken. Why is your population in such a desperate situation? Why have you not provided then with basic stuff? Why are you running to the IMF every year despite all the Chinese money 3 Likes |

Just40:Dumb syndrome in display --- I'm not certain if this can be chronic glaucoma. This is a Kenyan map. Take eyeglasses on my bills and help yourself. The map is even showing 20% arable land, not 30. We need IMF more than you need it. We have climate issues. You don't. 30% of Kenya is like half of ghana. As of 2022, I see you've just paid $8M, but your outstanding debt still intact at a whooping $1.3M.

But anyway,we will need these Kenyans to come work in Tz.Our population in Tz won't be enough to work on each factory and on every sector of our bigggest economy Imagine just on LNG plant alone,we will have LNG plant of 40b dollars, plus another industrial park with over 50 factories using gas as a raw material for those new factories. Then we have this new Kwala city in coastal region with about 1,000 factories popping up. Then we have bagamoyo with I don't know how many factories planned in that town.
